beckinney
Ok, so we booked airfare for a trip to Florida and will be wanting to bid on hotels like this:April 3 and 4 - Ft. Lauderdale, Beach Area, 4 Star (or 3 1/2)April 5, 6,7 & 8 - Orlando, Lake Buena Vista/Kissimee Area, 4 Star April 9 - Ft. Lauderdale, Airport AreaWhat would be a good biding strategy for this kind of trip?Thank you!! Link to comment
thereuare
Please use a separate topic for each leg of your trip as it will be easier to follow as well as enable us to reflect the hotel ultimately purchased in the topic title of each (and then each an appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins and Priceline Maps)We will use this thread for the first leg of your trip (Ft. Lauderdale Beach)... feel free to start NEW TOPICS for each of the other legs of your stay. HOWEVER, i will add one comment before doing so...I'm not sure of your plans or if you have things to do in each location, but i'm assuming the first leg is to enjoy some beach, the second leg is Disney, and the third stay is for a flight home? If i'm correct, and you have time upon your arrival to head straight to Orlando, i'd consider doing that... this way you only have two hotels for this trip, only need to change properties once, and staying in the Beach zone near the end of your trip should still get you close enough to the Airport for your flight home.Let us know your thoughts on the above or do to a fixed itinerary (or just your preference) you prefer to stick with the dates/itinerary above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. beckinney
Perfect ~ That is what I will do... this one will be my Fort Lauderdale 2 day trip on 4/3 and 4/4. Really wish we could use your plan, as it does indeed make more sense, but we have a wedding we are attending on Saturday morning in Janzen Beach and will be heading to Orlando after that. thereuare
For April 3-5 in the Ft. Lauderdale Beach zone you're likely looking in the $165-$185 area for a 3.5* or 4* hotel... is this inline with your expected budget for this leg of the trip?Let us know your maximum bid, and if you want to first try for a 4* hotel up to your maximum (or for a 3.5* in hopes of a lower price), as well as if this is the only zone that is acceptable, and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. beckinney
yes, we have used PRICELINE Hotels in Fort Lauderdale beach area twice in April. Once got the W for $100 but that was some crazy luck and the second time we got a 3 1/2 star (can't recall the name) for closer to $150 so we are aware of the fluctuations in the area for sure. Anything close to $150 would be wonderful, in a 3.5 or 4 star in that area. Link to comment
thereuare
Are you willing to pay more for a 4* vs. a 3.5* OR is the goal the least expensive 3.5* or better for this part of your trip? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. beckinney
Thanks for asking ~ i would say we are hoping to keep it at about $150 for this part of our trip. Link to comment

beckinney
Sorry, yes, we would prefer the 4* at $150 for Ft. Lauderdale :) Link to comment
thereuare
When bidding 4* in Fort Lauderdale you have FIVE re-bid zones... only TWO re-bid zones at the 3.5* level. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.I would begin as follows:Select 4* Ft Lauderdale Beach...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $150If the above is rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE, and re-try:(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 3.5* Ft Lauderdale Beach...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINE...Select 3.5* Ft Lauderdale Beach and re-bid zone2...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130Any questions feel free to ask. If both of the above are rejected just post back and we'll revise to try again in 24 hours. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. thereuare
Yes, at the 4* level those are correct, but always double check just before bidding to make sure that nothing has changed since you last looked. Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board.Good luck! beckinney
Great ~ If I am unable to get a 4* (although I have several weeks so will continue to look), I will try the 3 1/2 star bidding process. When looking on your Priceline Hotel List of 3 1/2 star hotels on the Ft. Lauderdale Beach, the only one that is listed is 'Courtyard by Marriott'. Are you aware if there are others as well? Link to comment
AaronJB
The lists provide what has been reported to the board. There may be others not yet reported to the board, but not all hotels may also participate on the bidding side of the service. Star ratings can also change at any time.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
