hapo
Hi! I'm new in the forum. Registred as I need do book hotels for Chicago, Las Vegas and New York for a trip in August 2014 and I found so many good tips here!I used priceline before, so I'm familiar with re-bidding and so on. But how to make sure to get a room with bathroom in New York? I looked ad many hotels in Expedia and the cheap rates are mostly with shared bathrooms. Is there a star-level from witch on the own bathroom is assured?thanksHannah Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding.I don't believe that PRICELINE and HOTWIRE offer rooms with shared bath, but I would not recommend low star ratings in NYC, as quality can vary quite significantly. What would be your desired budget per night for this stay and what are your date/s of travel? I would also not suggest going to Chicago the first weekend of August due to Lollapalooza, but we will be happy to help for the other destinations in additional threads.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. hapo
I was thinking bidding for a 3.5 - 4* room in Manhattan. 3 nights (20-23 august 2014), 2 adults, if possible <600$ all in for the stay.We are in Chicago from 2-5 August. So partly the Lollapalozza weekend. Will be a lot of fun :-) So probably New York prices for Chicago also for this 3 nights? And no good chances to get a good deal with priceline as no need for the hotels to get rooms filled up?When schould I start bidding? Now or only some weeks before the journy? Propably I will make a safty-reservation already now at least for Chicago.Hannah Link to comment
thereuare
hapo,We have moved this thread to the NEW YORK >> Priceline section of the board. Please start NEW TOPICS in the Nevada and/or Illinois section of the board for each of those stays. As far as NYC goes, i don't see your budget being too much of an issue as summer is generally one of the slower times of year in NYC. Are you looking at the highest star rating your budget will allow OR looking to spend least amount as possible at some minimum star rating?Have you found a suitable back-up hotel? If so, where and how much? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. hapo
in this case, i prefer to spend least amount as possible at some minimum star rating. For the moment I found the GEM Hotel - Chelsea at 660.31 $ for a king bedroom. Didn't book until now as its a bit more that I want to spend... so i keep on looking. Link to comment
thereuare
On PRICELINE you can bid up to ~$165/nite and come in at your $600 all-in budget. Are you ready to begin bidding now? If so, which zones are you willing to accept? 3.5* minimum, correct? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. To early for bidding?Best regards!Hannah Link to comment
AaronJB
At this point, in Midtown, I think you're likely looking at $140-160 for a 4* in Midtown. You do have a lot of time though, so I wouldn't be overly aggressive in trying to lock something in.Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. thereuare
Please change the currency drop down menu on the top right of PRICELINE's home page to US Dollars and post to the board in US Dollars so that rates are consistent and not subject to interpretation due to future currency fluctuation. Once you're ready to purchase stay on the US version of their site and simply change the drop down menu to whatever currency you'd like to use and complete your purchase. What is the rate of your back-up in US Dollars and what is the rate, in US Dollars, of the PRICELINE EXPRESS property above? AaronJB
Marriott East Side and Lexington would be possibilities, but I'd lean towards the Lexington. Thank you for using the board's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment

No luck... what are the ~prices for bidding in this period? best regardsHannah Link to comment
AaronJB
You have time to try lower, but I think unfortunately - at least based on the rates I'm seeing - you're likely looking at $145-160 for a 4*.
