Hello:

I would like to bid on a 4.5* hotel in Midtown East or West or in Central Park West. I have seven rebid zones and would like my maximum bid to be $250. Amenities are not important. What would be the best strategy? Travel dates are June 5th- June 8th.

Thanks!

I want to get a room with two beds. Is that a possibility or is it something I have to ask when I get there?

PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it's at the discretion of the hotel, and you could receive a room with only one bed. While you can call the hotel you win and request a room with two beds, the hotel may not be able, or willing, to honor your request. The risk of this is higher in NYC then in most other parts of the country as rooms are notoriously small and therefore hotels have a high percentage of rooms with only one bed in them, and many of hotels charge more for rooms with two beds vs. one bed. If this is not a risk you're willing to take then HOTWIRE may still be an option as they allow you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensure sleeping accommodations for everyone you include in your search (although this usually means two beds, the second 'bed' could be a sofabed, rollaway, etc)

Ok I did the bidding plan and didnt win. What is a realistic bid for a 4.5* hotel in that area?

I'd guess closer to the $275-$300 range.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

I ended up going with the express deal on Priceline for a 4.5* that guaranteed me double beds for $372. With my reserach I was 95% sure it was the Waldorf and it was. I felt I could do a little better than that but Im traveling with picky family members so want to make sure its a good hotel and we saved 30%. So thats something... Thanks for your help!
