Laur
I was thinking that I would get a higher star level, but bidding up to $80 for a 4 or 3.5* downtown seemed stupid when there was a PRICELINE EXPRESS deal for a 3* downtown for $68. I failed at and under $60, but thanks to free re-bids I got the Holiday Inn for $62 (I actually had a coupon that added $25 to my bid, so I really only paid $37 plus taxes/$55 total). Link to comment

Laur
Thanks, but I don't get why it's more costly than usual that weekend. People get 4 stars for around 60 dollar bids often, it seems. Link to comment
thereuare
If you haven't yet, please start by reading your messages.Hotel rates are date specific and a function of supply/demand, and for whatever reason (it could be an event in the area, orientation for incoming freshman at OSU so parents are making the trip with their kids, move-in day for a summer camp that is being help on campus, etc, etc) demand, and therefore rates, are higher then usual for these dates.Go to our sister site MAPS and HOTELS.com and search for these dates and then filter to only show 4* and above hotels and you'll see rates for the nite above is in the $175 area for most 4* hotels... then repeat the same search for the following Saturday nite and you'll see rates are in the $125 area. So it doesn't matter why rates are higher, but it's important to recognize that they are indeed higher. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
