monkeybars8
Hello. I am looking for lodging in Traverse City, MI for 7/22/12. Will start with 1 night but need up to 4 nights. I just failed at my Priceline bids. Here is what I tried:1) 3*, North, $792) 3*, North, Acme, $823) 3*, North, Acme, West, $894) 3*, 2.5*, North, Acme, West, $80I'm assuming with it being summer, my bids are simply too low. Any advice for my next try? Is 50% of the going rate for rooms a realistic bid? Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
During peak season(s) there is not much reason for hotels to discount so deeply. However, this is a Sunday nite stay which typically is the slowest nite of the week for hotels.Since you have a little time i would continue to inch upwards as you are doing, but my guess is that it will likely take somewhere in the $100-$120 range to be successful. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you make out and if we can be of further help along the way. monkeybars8
I tried again today and had no luck with PRICELINE:1) 3*, North, $902) 3*, North + Acme, $953) 3*, North + Acme + West, $1004) 3*, 2.5*, North + Acme + West, $90So, I bit the bullet and got a 3* room on HOTWIRE for $138. I assumed it was the Cambria Suites, and it was. It gets great reviews, so we should be ok. It wasn't available for additional nights, so I will keep trying for lodging for 7/23 - 7/25. Splurged for 7/22; hope to find some better deals for the rest of the trip! Link to comment
