dirkgun
I am looking to book 3 rooms after a cruise in December 2012 12/23 -12/27/12. When should I start booking or bidding for hotels? I know airlines ... the best prices are found 6weeks out but I am not sure with hotels. Thanks Link to comment
AaronJB
The FAQ discusses purchase timing in greater detail. What would be your desired budget per night? There is no way to bid for a particular property (such as the Caribe Hilton.)Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment

Then also a post cruise stay from 12/23/12 through 12/26/12. Thanks any help is greatly appreciated. Max bid would like to be below $105 per night per room. Link to comment

thereuare
Please post only one stay per thread but keep all posts for the same stay in the same thread. We will use this thread for your pre-cruise stay of 12/14-12/16, please start a NEW TOPIC for your post-cruise stay of 12/23-12/26.Please start by following-up your previous Priceline Airfare thread with whatever you ended up doing for tickets for that trip, then reply to this thread and we'll have a look at and comment on your post above. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. dirkgun
OK I will remember that ... sorry. I am trying to find 4 rooms 12/14/12 - 12/16/12 I want to know how to find out which hotel. Link to comment
thereuare
I want to know how to find out which hotel. When bidding on PRICELINE there is no way to target or guess the hotel you will receive before your purchase, you have to be able to accept any hotel in the zone at the star level (or higher) that you choose. With HOTWIRE you can often take an educated guess as to what is being offered based upon the amenities associated with the property, but it's still a 'best guess' and no guarantees you will receive the hotel you're hoping for. As well, HOTWIRE only shows one hotel at each star level per zone, so there is a chance the hotel you're hoping for isn't the one which is offered for your particular dates. The trade-off is that PRICELINE is usually a little cheaper than HOTWIRE.Let us know your thoughts as to which service you think is better for your needs this trip and how you'd like to proceed, we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. dirkgun
I would prefer to use PRICELINE but I just don't know the best way to go about it. If you have a bidding strategy I could use that would be very helpful. Thanks, Link to comment
thereuare
So to confirm, by going with PRICELINE you're no longer trying to target a specific property but are interested in the least expensive Resort/4* property with a maximum bid of $105/nite? Also, please confirm if you want to bid on a Resort property or a 4* property.Let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. dirkgun
Thanks, that seems like a great plan of attack. If it were you bidding when would you start the bidding process? Link to comment

dirkgun
Help I just bid $95 for a resort level in San Juan I know I will need to go up but I don't know hoew to find the free rebid zones in Puerto Rico. 12/23- 12/26/2012 Link to comment
thereuare
When bidding 'Resort' in San Juan you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you've already read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and are still confused, start with the following...1) Use the PRICELINE search box on the upper right of this page, enter New Orleans and your dates, and click "GO".2) List each zone that is offered in this region. 3) Next to each zone list the highest star rating offered in the zone. The way to determine the highest star rating offered in the zone is by selecting the first zone i the list, then scrolling down to see the highest star rating selectable (ie- not greyed out). NEXT UNcheck the selected zone, place a checkmark in the next zone, and repeat the process for each zone in the region. Each time you take note of the highest star rating in the zone, make sure that only ONE zone is selected above.4) post your findings and we'll take it from thereIf you don't follow the above just post back and we'll break it down further. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. dirkgun
I used the links on this page to bid for and win the Caribe Hilton for 12/23 - 12-26/12 ... 3 night for 4 rooms for $125 per room per night. I had used the rebid zones last week and bid all the way from 110 up to $155 and no pick up today I bid once and they picked it up. This is the property I had hoped for. Could not be happier.
