thereuare
The Central Park property is a match for the Empire Hotel while the Times Square property is a match for the Doubletree, so these would be my best guess for each. These are very different hotels with different personalities... if you like boutique-y hotels, small rooms, and a 'trendy' atmosphere then the Empire Hotel is a good fit; the Doubletree is more 'standard hotel' but is an all-suite property (the extra space is welcomed) in the middle of the tourist area. The Doubleree has better access to multiple subway lines and gets great reviews, and of the two i would probably lean towards this one, but for somebody who is looking for 'velvet-rope-trendy' the Empire i wouldn't have any problem recommending the Empire (it just wouldn't be my choice/style)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you decide and how it goes or if we can be of further help. elcorto
I need help with bidding strategy for 4* hotel in NY. I will be staying from May 2nd to May 6th. I'm willing to stay in: Central Park South, Chelsea, Empire State Building, Midtown East, Midtown West, Soho & Times Square. I have tried using the SEVEN re-bid zones: started at $170 and finished at $215 with no success. Any suggestions? Many thanks Link to comment
BrahmaBull
I'm in a similar boat. Plan on going May 3-6. I haven't gone as high as $215, so I am a little more discouraged! I might lower my star rating soon. . . Link to comment
AaronJB
Rates for these dates are unfortunately high and appear to have gone up within the last few weeks. What would be your desired budget per night?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
elcorto
My desired budget was under $200 but I'm thinking on going up to $230-250...Any suggestions? Link to comment
thereuare
Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID and/or staying outside of the city (but easy commute in) an option? You could get a nice 4* hotel in Jersey City/Hoboken for ~$165-$185 for the first 2 nites of your stay, then a 4* hotel in Manhattan for ~$200/nite for the last 2 nites of your stay.Thoughts? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. elcorto
I prefer staying in Manhattan and not splitting. I would rather go for a lower star rating. Any advice on bidding for 3.5* and 3* hotels, same zones: Central Park South, Chelsea, Empire State Building, Midtown East, Midtown West & Times Square Link to comment
