gatorfan88
Hi, we are looking to bid for the first time in Tribeca using either Hotwire or Priceline. We are open to Tribeca, Soho, LWS and LES. We would like to spend $100 or less per night. Can you give suggestions for bidding? Link to comment
gatorfan88
We are looking for a 4* or better in the Tribeca/Soho area 4/6/12-4/8/12. Our budget is $110/night. Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding! On HOTWIRE the area you're trying to target is included in the "Downtown-SoHo-Financial District" zone, but this zone is larger than just the area you're trying to target... if you go to HOTWIRE and look at this zone, are you willing to stay anywhere within the shaded boundaries of the zone? (which includes the area around Battery Park and the Financial District) If so, are any 4* hotels in this zone offered within your budget? We are open to Tribeca, Soho, LWS and LES. We would like to spend $100 or less per night. Can you give suggestions for bidding? If you enter "New York City" and your dates in the search box at the top right corner of this page you'll see how PRICELINE divides this area... are there any zones where you would be willing to accept a hotel anywhere within the zone? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Thanks. gatorfan88
For PRICELINE, We would be willing to stay anywhere in SoHo Tribeca, Chelsea Village and Wall Street. Nothing on HOTWIRE meets our budget requirements. I have read the Priceline bidding explained post and that seems to be the best option. How do you recommend bidding based on our specifications? thereuare
Based upon current rates i don't think a 4* is going to be likely within your budget, but if you want to give it a try...At the 4* level you have SEVEN re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* SoHo, Chelsea, and Downtown...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $103, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $105, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $108, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $110Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. thereuare
Did you want to try for a 4* property first (as per your topic title) OR are you know interested in a lower rated hotel? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. gatorfan88
We can try 4* first. Thanks. Link to comment
thereuare
So try the suggested strategy above, and if rejected and you want to try for a lower rated hotel, post back and we'll revise accordingly. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. gatorfan88
We were unsuccessful with the 4* bidding. Can you post a strategy for 3 1/2 max 100 per night? We would like to try SoHo-Tribeca, Hells Kitchen, Empire State Building Area, Central Park South. Thanks! Link to comment
thereuare
Before bidding, note that the 3.5* level in the CPS zone contains the Hudson Hotel, which while centrally located, has notoriously small rooms... would this be an acceptable outcome? However, i'll add that whether you include this zone or not, i don't think you have a high likelihood of success based upon current rates... $100 isn't a lot for this time of year in NYC.Please confirm and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases... and please click this PRICELINE link before replying.Thanks. gatorfan88
Small rooms are fine. What about a 3* for 100? Link to comment
thereuare
I'm not saying you shouldn't try, as all you need is one hotel with low occupancy to offer a low threshold to accept a bit, but $100 and under typically isn't enough except for the absolute slowest times of year (and while this isn't yet quite peak spring season, it's not ultr-slow for hotels either)... what is the best rate you're able to find thru conventional booking channels?Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll take it from there. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
