Started bid at $95 for resort. Rejected. Raised to $105. Rejected.

Raised to $115. Rejected. Raised to $125 (my limit). Changed the dates numerous times too. Rejected.

Changed to 3* and was accepted at La Concha.

6 nights @$125 $750.00

taxes and service fees 108.26

Total charges $858.26

However, there is an extra $18 per day parking fee.

I was not aware of this until calling the hotel to request non-smoking.

Even the guests paying $200/nite will be paying for parking... at least you saved substantially on the room rate! I would imagine that most hotels in Key West charge for parking as it is at a premium.

It's usually recommended to LOWER YOUR PRICE IF YOU LOWER YOUR STAR RATING, as explained in the previous thread.

Key West is expensive in the summer, and a very difficult zone to have successful bids during the peak time periods.

As a Priority Club member our rate was $149.00 if we had booked through the hotel. The Holiday Inn website showed no vacancy for the dates that we wanted. You are right. I should have tried lowering my bid. I will do that next time.

The person that I talked to on the phone at the La Concha told me to be sure and let them know at check-in that we are Priority Club members and we will get a reduction of $4.50 a day on the parking fee.

You may want to doublecheck that... i showed the $149/nite rate valid for a few days of your stay, but when clicking beyond the first screen there was a note that the rate increase for the other nites (to $199).

It was a prepaid only rate - no cancellation - through priority club.
