TerryP
Hi there. I have a chance to book air fare to NYC for a great deal (from Toronto) and am considering a 4 - 5 day trip in mid-October. I think October 13 - October 17. Before I book though, I'd like to know if there's a good chance that I could get a 3.5* or greater hotel for under $200/night? Link to comment
AaronJB
Under $200 may be difficult during October and these dates definitely look expensive. What zones would be acceptable?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
TerryP
I have no idea. I'm open to suggestions. I assume as long as we're close to the subway and in Manhattan, it would be ok. I've never been to NYC except for a single day.Would it be better (in terms of likelihood of getting a room for under $200) to switch to a weekend in early to mid-November? Link to comment
thereuare
If you look at Thanksgiving Weekend, 11/23-11/27, i think you'll get a great deal (although airfare will likely be tough)... after that you'll likely do best the days just before Christmas... then you'll have to wait until after New Years (and rates will likely be least expensive in Jan/Feb).Any of the dates work for you (if so i'd check airfare but confirm your hotel options with the board before committing to the air)Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. TerryP
Thanks for that, but no, those dates won't work. Sigh. What about for under $250? Would that get me something in October? Link to comment
thereuare
HOTWIRE has a 3.5* hotel in the Downtown zone for $243/nite (before taxes and fees) which includes breakfast and has good reviews, but unfortunately has not yet been reported to the board and i'm not sure which one it may be. Downtown isn't the most ideal location for the average visitor, but it is certainly do-able for the right price. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. TerryP
Hmmm, ok. I may have to cancel this idea (again), but one last question - what if I lowered my expectations to 3*? Do you recommend or are there dodgy hotels in the 3* category? What do you think I could expect price-wise? Link to comment
thereuare
Yes, at current prices, you could likely get something under $250 at the 3* level.If/when you decide you're ready to proceed, please click each of these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links, and we'll continue this thread.
