robideauvt
Attempting to get a 4* Hotel in Jersey City for Aug 27 . ( 1 night). I noticed that Hotwire had a 4* in Jersey city for $103 + fees. So I attempted to see if I could get a better price on PRICELINE. I started my bidding at $80 and went up to $100 in $5 increments but none of my bids were accepted. I am going to purchase the hotel on HOTWIRE. I will post my win on the HOTWIRE forum. robideauvt
With the pending hurricane approaching New York City this weekend, does anyone have any experience with having Hotwire refund money or provide a credit because of the impending storm. I plan on contacting Hotwire and the Hotel to see if they can be of assistance. Just checking if anyone has experience with regards to these situations? Link to comment
thereuare
Often if travel is not possible (airports closed, etc) the opaque providers, on a case-by-case basis, have accommodated users, but not from the standpoint "it's going to rain so i don't want to go on vacation because it won't be fun to be outside". It may be early for them to make a decision too, given how storm paths can still be quite uncertain 2-3 days before expected to read the area.Let us know how you make out with any phone calls you make. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.PS- if you go to HOTWIRE now, there is a link at the top of their home page regarding the storm. (click this HOTWIRE link, which defaults to 'hotels', then click HOME on the navigation bar on the top left of their home page) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases Link to comment
robideauvt
I called Hotwire and they said if there is an evacuation ordered for NYC or road and bridge closures in the area they said that they would "work with us.". They requested that I call back on Friday as the storm approached the NYC area. I will update this site with any new information. Link to comment
thereuare
The Governor of NJ (where your hotel is located) has declared a State of Emergency so i would think you're within reason to call HOTWIRE back if you're looking to cancel/postpone this trip. Usually an official word from the state/government is enough for them to begin to take some action.Good luck. robideauvt
We got a full refund from Hotwire . We needed to be within 24 hours of checking before they would issue the refund. When we called on the day of our check-in , the Hotwire Customer Service person was very check to issue the refund since New Jersey was under a state of emergency. Link to comment
AaronJB
Thank you for keeping us updated and glad HOTWIRE resolved the situation well; sorry to hear that you weren't able to go, though. :) Link to comment
