eineschwalbe
I'm looking to get a room in areas 6 or 9 (near US Bank Arena) for one night 2/13/11 (this Sunday) leavin 2/14/11.Here's what I bid tonight and was rejected:3.5* areas 6&9 $35I want to book the room as a backup in case we don't feel like driving back to Lex after Linkin Park. So it's not a super necessity, but I don't want to spend a ton for the simple fact that we might not check in, and if we do, we'll be leaving EEEAAARLY to get to work Monday morning.Another consideration, I don't want it to be super sleezy because the concert tickets are a Valentine's gift ( :) ) to my boyfriend, so I'm not so keen on dropping any *s.Advice? And if you just think I need to suck it up and offer more $, feel free to go ahead and tell me. :) Link to comment
yellowdog
Welcome to BetterBidding! What would your max budget be before tax/fee for a 3.5*? Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Yellowdog. Link to comment
thereuare
Rates are not that high for these dates, but typically it takes more than $35 to win a 3.5* hotel or better in these zones... if you can raise your budget to $40-$50 i think you'd increase your chances substantially. If you would like to bid higher let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. eineschwalbe
I guess $45+tax/fees would be my max. Link to comment
thereuare
Assuming both Downtown and Riverfront are acceptable, i'd try as follows:At the 3.5* level you have TWO re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 3.5* Downtown...Bid $35, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $38, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $40, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Riverfront...Bid $35, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $38, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $40, if rejected close browser and use this link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* Downtown and Riverfront...Bid $43, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $45, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $48 (if you decide to try an extra $3)Any questions feel free to ask. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. eineschwalbe
Thank you for being so helpful! Since I'm new to this, I just wanted to be sure of my rebid zones...When I just search for a hotel, it gives me a different list of zones that the list on the name your own price page. The only one I find with no hotels at 3.5+ is Cincinnati East. But when I compare the two maps, it looks like maybe Cincinnati Northwest-Fairfield, or maybe Ft. Mitchell would be the other one? Thanks again! Link to comment
thereuare
No, you don't want to use the 'retail' section of PRICELINE to determine your re-bid zones. See this thread: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding. If you read the above link and are still confused just post back and we'll break it down further for you. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. eineschwalbe
AHA! Now I get it!I ended up with the Millennium (3.5*) for $44. I've read other posts on here about $6 parking nearby, as well as free checkin upgrades, so I'll try my luck with that too!I followed thereuare's instructions, and used the link, but in the last set I went $42, 44 and got accepted there. Thanks SO MUCH!!! I totally understand it now :) Link to comment
