Will try again, but the upper limit isn't much over $70 and I don't want anything outside downtown or below 3*. Link to comment
Romelle
Not to be the "bearer of bad tidings", but things don't look too positive for the 3 1/2*. Hotwire has Central Asheville 3 1/2* at $174, and 3* at $129. Thanksgiving guests, plus maybe even some additional event?Kayak has the 3* Four Points Sheraton at $149.Even if Priceline beat Hotwire by 25% (and that is pretty extreme), you would be looking at a 3* at around $100. You can try to your max budget for the 3 1/2*s tomorrow, although the chances are pretty slim. Then you can start exploring the 3*s, first closing your browser and then coming back in again and rechecking the free rebid areas at the 3* level (there are only two).Looks like a difficult town for bidding, or at least very difficult dates.Sorry.Romelle Link to comment
thereuare
...the upper limit isn't much over $70 and I don't want anything outside downtown or below 3*.Given the prices Romelle quoted above, what is your back-up plan should you not succeed for a 3* at $70 or less in the Downtown-Biltmore zone? Thanks for using the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board. BamaVol
Probably stay home and spend the $70 on football tickets. ;-)We visit Asheville regularly and will do so the day after Thanksgiving. A room allows us to have a nice dinner and drink too much wine without worrying about the 90 mile drive home.I did get an email from PRICELINE indicating someone had scored a downtown Asheville 3.5* for $70. The implication is that they were looking at the same night. I will use the BetterBidding PRICELINE link tonight and find out for sure. Link to comment

BamaVol
After 4 tries at a 3.5* central Asheville hotel on PRICELINE with a top bid of $82 and 1 attempt at a 3* with a top bid of $70, I opted for the best HOTWIRE choice; the 2.5* Guesthouse Inn (guessed it would be this property based on a comparison of amenities with the list here). Pretty well reviewed on Tripadvisor. Other choices were too dicey or too pricey. Used the BetterBidding link to HOTWIRE. Link to comment
