chrispee
Used the PRICELINE link of course, and have been trying for a few weeks to get a Waikiki Beach 4* hotel. Tried today starting at $122, and got offered a free rebid at $152. Declined the rebid and added Ilihani with a bid of $124, since I knew I was unlikely to get the JW Marriott in Ilihani at that price. No luck, so I added Waikiki Marina and did a rebid at $127 and was not successful. Added the North Shore since I knew I was unlikely to get Turtle Bay at this price point, and rebid $131 with success for the Sheraton Waikiki. Thanks Betterbidding.com for such a great resource! chrispee
thanks! i actually hedged my bets and only booked 1 week of our 2 week stay. anybody got an opinion of whether or not i should just add on our additional week at the sheraton waikiki @ $131, or should i wait it out and see what kind of a deal i can get at a closer date? thereuare
Are you able to get to Hawaii often and/or have been there before? I loved Oahu, but for a 2 week trip, i would try to visit another island, especially if you're not nearby and/or not able to get to Hawaii very often. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases. chrispee
yes, we go to hawaii once a year and have been to all of the islands. we'll actually be visiting clients on and off through our trip, so we don't have the opportunity to island hop unfortunately.priceline won't allow me to add the week beforehand, so it looks like i'll have to hold off and try bidding again closer to the date! :) Link to comment
thereuare
If you tried the add a nite feature, you can only try that once. Since that option won't be offered any more for this stay, why not start bidding now for the additional nite? chrispee
ah, ok, so the "add a night" feature isn't available to try again at any point. i'll start rebidding the additional nights then. in your opinion, when are the best deals available in relationship to the date of stay? one month beforehand? two months? AaronJB
There is no way to know if prices will go up/down closer to your stay. It's best to start bidding now - given that your trip is a few months out, you can pick a lower ceiling and bid up to that and if bids aren't accepted, try once a week until around 1/1. If no bids are accepted by that point, then raise your ceiling and start trying up to that point. What would be your desired budget per night for the additional night/s?Thank you for using the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
chrispee
i'm willing to pay up to $135 per night for a 4* + hotel. i'd stay anywhere in waikiki near the beach, and i'd be happy if i lucked out and got the jw marriott or turtle bay at that price (although judging from the data on betterbidding.com it seems highly unlikely). most of the pressure from the wife is off now that she knows the 2nd week of our stay will be a good one at the sheraton waikiki beach. any bidding strategy help would be greatly appreciated. thereuare
Please start a NEW TOPIC for the additional dates you need, and in that post please clarify the zones you're willing to accept... you mention you'd be happy with the Turtle Bay Resort but that is in the North Shore whereas you mention only bidding the Waikiki Beach zone. Please use the PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on the board to begin your travel purchases.
