midlogolfer
I'm trying to get a 4* room for Saturday Feb. 27 in Atlantic City. I believe there are two 4* options, Harrahs and Caesars, and either of these are fine. I've never used the bidding capabilities on either Priceline or Hotwire so as much advice as possible is preferred. Current rates range from $280-309. I would like to spend $150 or less. Is this possible? Thanks. Link to comment
AaronJB
Welcome to Betterbidding. :)A 4* in Atlantic City would seem at least somewhat unlikely, given rates that I'm seeing for these dates, but is worth trying. Would your budget be $150 + taxes and fees or $150 "all-in" (including tax/fees)? Have you attempted to bid yet, and if so, how much? Please use the site's HOTWIRE or PRICELINE links to start your purchases and searches. Link to comment
midlogolfer
Haven't done anything yet, was waiting for some feedback. Any suggestions as far as approach to my bidding. Should I go ahead and bid top since it is unlikely I will get it for 150 or should I start off low expecting it to be denied? Also, if it is denied how should I approach the re-bid? Link to comment
larry_c
I'd go to Hotwire for that date and check availability for you date for 4*. If there is availability on HOTWIRE, it's likely that there may be the same hotel on Priceline for a bit less. I generally bid 10-20% less on PRICELINE for the equivalent star rating on HOTWIRE.I see a 3* for $183 for your day on Hotwire, so it's unlikely you'll get a 4 star at all.Good luck,lc Link to comment
thereuare
At the 4* level you have FOUR re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* Atlantic City...Bid $90, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $100, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Atlantic City and re-bid zone3...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Atlantic City and re-bid zone4...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Atlantic City and re-bid zone3 and re-bid zone4...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. midlogolfer
Thanks for the advice. I probably won't book the room until the week before I plan on going (to make sure weather cooperates), but will keep you updated. Link to comment
