mrsv
Is it too soon to start looking at hotels from Sept 18-21? I would need 2 rooms. If I should wait when is the best time? Link to comment
thereuare
It's never too early to start bidding, as long you as you know what a "good deal" should be and make sure you don't overbid. mrsv
I would like to stay in the Times Square area and will need 2 rooms. Do you think I should use HOTWIRE or PRICELINE? Also is there a post in here where I can see what hotels are in the TS area? Link to comment
AaronJB
At the head of the NY sections, there are posts that list both HOTWIRE and PRICELINE hotels for NY. Link to comment
thereuare
Each hotel list is also pinned at the top of THIS FORUM.Whether to use PRICELINE or HOTWIRE should be based upon a few factors... do you need more than double occupancy for either room? What is more important to you... the lowest price or having an educated guess as to what hotel(s) you may likely received?Separately, i'd advise looking beyond the Times Square zone, as you'll likely get a better deal if you include other zones, and if you haven't seen it yet, read our thoughts on Hotels Near Times Square. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know once you're ready to proceed and we'll take it from there OR if you have any questions regarding the above. mrsv
Need help with bidding stratagy.Need 2 roms for Sept 17-20. TS area. Max is $100/night. Preferably 4* (do you think this is realistic?) Link to comment
AaronJB
I do not think this going to be realistic for a 4* for these dates. Link to comment
mrsv
what would you say will be realistic? Link to comment
thereuare
If you're only willing to bid the Times Square zone, at the moment i'd guess $160-$200 would be more realistic. Is there a reason you're not including other nearby midtown zones? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. mrsv
We are travelling with another couple at the end of there honeymoon. They want to stay in the times square area. I ntice that mid-town west is also a good area, just not sure if they would be ok with that. Link to comment
AaronJB
I would discuss plans with the other couple; for Times Square, prices are going to be pretty high. Prices for MTW or especially MTE or one of the other Midtown areas are going to be less. $100 for a 4* isn't going to be realistic, but a 4* in other areas may be cheaper than the $150-170 likely price of a TS 4*. I seen someone get the Hilton MTW for $115 and would be more than satisfied with that price as that would be my max price. We are open to TS (preferred area), MTW, MTE and would be open to MSG & ESB depending on what hotels are in the at area. Should I start a new post or is it ok to continue on this one? We would also like a 3.5* or 4*.Thanks in advance. Link to comment

AaronJB
PRICELINE rates are date-specific, and can vary significantly. The posts you mention are for different dates, and these dates are more expensive (as is much of September.) Unfortunately, I don't think $115 is going to be realistic for a 4*, given the rates that I'm seeing. Link to comment

thereuare
At the 3.5* level you have THREE re-bid zones available, none at the 3* level. mrsv
Nadda. We keep trying and we are going to increase the bid amounts at this point. I think the problem is that we are looking for 3 rooms. Can you provide a bidding stratagy for a max of $150/nt please. We are open to TS, MTW, MTE, CPS, Chelsea & Downtown. 3* and up.Thanks :) Link to comment
thereuare
Nadda... I think the problem is that we are looking for 3 rooms.I don't think so... i believe the problem is that $115 is not realistic for a 3* for this time of year, regardless if you're bidding for 1 room or 3 rooms. To confirm, you haven't yet bid for the Downtown area, correct? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
