Priceline Hotel: 3* Oakland - Eastbay (Pleasanton) Four Points

Attempted 4 star walnut/concord 55 up to 65 but no luck. Mistake on my part I thought there was no 3 star in Pleasanton so thought I was getting a free rebid - NOT

Total cost including fee of $20 made it cost about the same as the lowest rate booked directly $59 plus 8% tax prepaid - and I would have received Starwood points and benefits :)

At least it sounds as if you are able to use this hotel... better to lose some Starwood points than the cost of the entire hotel stay. I always say that if you use Priceline long enough you will eventually make a mistake... trick is to make sure the mistakes are managable.

You may already know this, but for others followng along, the following is an excerpt from PRICELINE BIDDING BEFORE 72 HOURS that explains the proper way to check your re-bid zones:

The way to check what star levels are available in each zone is to open a Priceline page, check ONLY the zone you are inquiring about, and then proceed to the next page (as if you were going to select a zone)... this will give you the available star ratings in that area. You can then hit BACK on your browser, uncheck the current box, check the next box, and repeat the process. It is important to do this before EACH attempt at adding a zone that you really don't want, as new hotels can be added and the star ratings can change at any time.

Near the end of the above thread is a picture showing the concept in graphical terms which may help those having a bit of trouble getting this concept down.
