ozgirl
Hi,Can you please help me book a rental car from LAX for the 08/03/2009 to 08/06/2009? I have bid up to $19 for a compact car using the PRICELINE link from the website with no success. The lowest price on Hotwire is $60.20. I can book something from other websites for around $40 per day..... Do I have no chance with PRICELINE??What to do?? Link to comment
spragujl
LAX rent cars have been high via PRICELINE in the last year or two. Don't know why. 2+ years ago they had great prices. But my alternative is to go to www.carrentals.com and see what they have. They seem to be lowest. Then I always try Deluxe Rental A Car and Fox Car Rental. I've used them both and they're ok. You can probably get Deluxe at $40 or lower per day. Link to comment
thereuare
You may stil have success with PRICELINE... but perhaps not at 50% of prevailing rates. How high are you willing to bid for this rental? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. ozgirl
I think I'll be ok with bidding up to $25. There are some discount codes on the net but I'm worried that I'll have to show some ID. Any thoughts? Link to comment
thereuare
I'd first book a car as a back-up and protect you from any unexpectd increases over the next few days... most all rentals are fully cancellable (check the terms during your check-out process) and don't require a credit card to hold. This will protect you while you continue to bid over the next few days. Please check out support page for direct links to the rental agencies. From there i'd bid $21, $23, and $25, one bid every 24 hours over the next 3 days. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. ozgirl
Hi,Just thought I'd post a quick update. We couldn't get a car at $21. By that stage, we were keen on finalising the plans. So ended up booking a car with www.traveljigsaw.com.au for $168AUD for 3 days. Including petrol, additional driver, taxes and insurance. In total it worked to be $44USD per day all inclusive. Because of the company's 48 hour cancellation policy we ran out of time to bid on PRICELINE the last 2 days. Thank you for your help and we used the betterbidding link to bid - as always :) Link to comment

mbstone
LAX, LGB and SNA PL and HW (not to mention regular) rentals are not just high, they are insanely high. Could this have something to do with the automaker bankruptcies and government takeovers. Link to comment
