Wr3ck3d
Hello,I booked 3.5* NYC (Chelsea-MSG) *Doubletree Chelsea* Hotel for $115 from 5/29/09-6/6/09 using HOTWIRE link. Please let us know how this stay goes, the opening date keeps getting pushed back. Was May 15, then May 23, Now May 30th for opening! Link to comment
AaronJB
Well, if the opening is 5/30, this poster may have an issue. Given how many people have gotten this hotel (many of whom I think have reservations prior to 5/30), I think a lot of people are going to either be switched to another Hilton in the city (which could turn out to be a good deal, depending on which) or, worse case scenario, you'll have people arriving at this property and knocking on the door, wondering why it isn't open (one of the many reasons why you should take a print out of your hotel reservation with you.) Would they contact you ahead of time with new reservations or would you arrive in the city to a building still under construction?I'm booked at the same hotel for June 27th - however the way the opening date has been moved and moved again I am a bit concerned. I have a back up reservation but it must be cancelled 2 days prior to arrival... blahhhhhhhh Link to comment

AaronJB
I wonder if the people who have reservations before the hotel is open are going to be "walked" (first night comped?) to another hotel (nicer Hilton?) I'm very curious to see how the situation is going to be handled, because I think there's a fair amount of people (see also: http://www.betterbidding.com/show.php/showtopic/66408) with reservations prior to 5/30. ainesey
I have a reservation at the Doubletree Chelsea from May 27th-May 30th, and have also been nervous about the changing date on their website. It now says July 15th! I called Doubletree and was told the same thing by two agents: they are opening on May 22nd. They said the date on the website means they are trying to control the reservations so that prior to the date on the website, you can only book the hotel by calling them directly. Link to comment
nmyankee
FYI - I was putting off buying one night in June at the Doubletree Chelsea on Hotwire, and yesterday the price went up to $185 - $199. The dates previously won have also gone up, so I wouldn't worry too much...sounds like they are in business to me! Know that you probably got a great one time deal! Let us know how it goes. Wr3ck3d
I emailed hotwire yesterday with my concerns and was told to call them at my leisure. Called last night and they offered a replacement hotel and they would cover any extra charges and move me up 1/2* rating to ensure I didn't get the same hotel again. Chose Times Square and got the Crowne Plaza Times Square - was going to $259/night for 4 people compared to the $100/night paid for the Doubletree! They credited my account with hotdollars to cover the extra before processing the new creditcard payment... Kudos to Hotwire with the way they handled this situation! Link to comment
