steveref
Looking to spend four nights (Thu-Sun) in Times Square or Midtown East in a 4* property. Typically Thu and Sun nights are priced higher than Fri and Sat. Does this mean if I submit a bid for all four nights I will be overpaying for the weekend nights to compensate for the weeknights? There appear to be four free re-bidding zones. Can you suggest a bidding strategy with the objective of maxing out at $175 per night? Link to comment

thereuare
When bidding 4* in NYC you have four re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.Select 4* MTE...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Times Square...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and Times Square...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $150, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $155, if rejected use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* MTE and Times Square and re-bid zone4...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $170, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $175Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. steveref
Thanks for the advice. Got the Millennium Broadway Hotel in Times Square at $165 per night for 5/29-6/2 using your PRICELINE link. While I understand the concept of the free rebidding zones, was curious given that there are 4 such zones for 4* hotels in NYC, that you suggested I re-access Priceline and start the next sequence of bidding after using only 3 of the zones. thereuare
Congratulations on your win!...was curious given that there are 4 such zones for 4* hotels in NYC, that you suggested I re-access Priceline and start the next sequence of bidding after using only 3 of the zones.Since you were able to easily make it up to your maximum bid using the fewer re-bid zones. Just using the first two bidding sequences as an example: (changes in bold)Select 4* MTE...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $140, if rejected use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Times Square...Bid $120, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone...Bid $135, if rejected use our link to re-access PRICELINEThe first cycle would have you bidding up to $140 (instead of $135)... what if successful at $140 but you also could have been successful at $120 in the Times Square zone? Better to keep the bid range per cycle "tight", if possible, and not go too far from where you would start the next bidding cycle. Hope that makes sense.Glad to hear you were successful. Thank you for sharing your outcome with the board and for using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. darzinger
Hi,If you don't mind me asking, what are the four re-bid zones you are speaking of when bidding 4* in NYC? Link to comment
thereuare
darzinger,Re-bidding is expalined here: Priceline Re-Bidding ExplainedYou need to know how to determine your re-bid zones yourself as they need to be checked before every bidding session or you run an increased risk of ending up in an area you didn't intend. If you need further help with re-bidding, or help with a bidding strategy for your own trip, please start a NEW TOPIC for your own stay. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Thanks.
