I've commented before that it's hard to find any hotel in Puerto Rico with great reviews. The hotels are expensive, and although 'part' of the US, Puerto Rico runs on "island time" (a bit more laid back and not in any particular rush to do things). As a result guests expect a lot for the prices they pay, and the service levels are not usually up to part with the prices paid... the results is frequent negative reviews as to poor value. I've been to San Juan a few times and i ratchet down my expectations a bit, regardless of the quality level of the hotel i'm staying in.
