slowslc
HelloI am looking for a 3-4 star hotel in Manhattan (mid town or surroundings) for September 22nd.I went to HOTWIRE and found one for $163 (4 star hotel) - it's giving me 4 choices. Since I know the "base" price, can I use1. Priceline and do the bidding ? say start at $100 (maybe unrealistic) ? and keep going from there or just book from hotwire and forget the bidding thing. If I use PriceLine directly, I don't get as much as a good 'deal' as Hotwire.Great website by the way ! Saves us a lot of money.Thanksdavid Link to comment
thereuare
Welcome to BetterBidding!First, have you identified the property being offered on HOTWIRE? If not, in what zone is it located and what are the amenities associated with the property. Each service uses their own criteria to rate hotels, so you have to make sure you're comparing apples-to-apples in that the HOTWIRE 4* property is not a 3* on Priceline.Essentially which service you use depends upon what you're looking for... priceline is usually a little cheaper than hotwire, but HOTWIRE gives you the ability to take an educated guess as to which property you will receive before you make the purchase.Let us know regarding the HOTWIRE hotel offered above and we'll take it from there. thereuare
The HOTWIRE hotel above is a match for the Grand Hyatt and the Inter-Continental The Barclay, so either of those would be our best gues, although i believe the one you're seeing above is the Inter-Continental.So now you can choose to take this property, having a reasonable guess as to the ID of the hotel, or you can try to beat this price by bidding on priceline, but not have an idea of which 4* hotel you will receive. If you go with the above please use this HOTWIRE link to begin any purchases you make.If you'd like to try Priceline let us know which zone(s) you're willing to accept and we'll suggesst a strategy for you to follow. slowslc
so I did not book yet. But I am willing to consider MidTown area for the 22nd (1 night) and willing to pay up to $200 (including services)I've had no luck with Priceline yet. Help on the strategy (4* and 3*) - Hotwire availability is limited right nowI also read the rebidding guidelines. When you say close browser.. does it mean you've exahusted all possibilities and have to wait 24 hrs again ? Link to comment
thereuare
I've had no luck with Priceline yet.Have you already tried bidding on Priceline? thereuare
The HOTWIRE hotel above is a 4* so you bid up to $180 for that property, correct? As that property is no longer offered, do you know if it was still offered on HOTWIRE when you placed your bids?
