  1. I needed two rooms for the night of April 7th before our cruise. Started at $70, 3.5 star, bids incremented at $5. Played the game using Airport/Beach for the areas we really wanted and threw in the free bid areas of Airport north, Coral, Miramar and Pompano. Got counter-offered to increase your bid by $20 when I hit $80, slowed the bids down to $2 increments at this point,counter-offer to increase by $25 when i hit $84, counter-offer to increase by $25 again when i hit $86. Won the Sheraton airport at $88. Pretty good but not great considering i'm pretty sure the Sheraton was $105/night on hotwire, but money is money. Thanks again for the great forum guys!
  2. I've placed a review for our sutton place stay in the HOTEL REVIEWS section. Thanks for the tip. No luck though on victoria though. I wanted to stay at the 4* level since this was our first trip with the little one. Ended up at the empress for $119/night through the friends and family deal. Great location, but the rooms are dated. Oh, completely unrelated to hotels, but if one is looking to travel from vancouver to victoria, I highly recommend Heli-jet. $129/person for a 30 min ride (compared to 3.5 hours on bus/ferry). Very smooth and you get great views. Plus, you get to feel like Donald Trump :)
  3. Stayed 4 nights with wife and the little one 6/10-6/14. Have to agree with OP that this is an excellent hotel. Very friendly, courteous service. No mention of priceline at all when i checked in, they accomodated a room change to a king size given that we were traveling with an infant. No need for a car if your activities are in vancouver itself. It has just about everything within 5 minutes (shopping, dining, museum, waterfront, transit, etc.) Best feature is the japadog stand out front. If you haven't tried it, you must, Anthony Bourdain and Ice Cube can't be wrong :) Skip breakfast at the hotel and go around the corner to the bellagio cafe. $10 for just about any combination breakfast you can think of.
  4. 4* Downtown Vancouver 6/10-6/14 $100 Sutton Place Hotel. Not the very best deal in the world but a very good hotel judging from the reviews. Started at $70, 5 dollar increments to $100 (my max). Now on to Victoria for the last 3 nights of our trip.....
  5. I've used a cdn credit card since 2005. address is calgary, ab canada. state = ca. zip = 99999
  6. Nice hotel. Beautiful amenities, great location. Poor experience though. They had two weddings the night we stayed and we were given a room facing the atrium. VERY LOUD. I would've preferred the sound of roaring airplanes in place of the bad polka music that was playing. We called front desk to see if we could change rooms but nothing could be done. Not very accommodating staff. I've stayed at the crowne plaza on the club level (quiet floor, free breakfast) down the street and really enjoyed myself there. I won't go back to the hyatt, at least not this location. :)
  7. Started bidding at $55 in $5 increments. Landed the Hyatt Regency SFO Airport for one night at $70. I used the PRICELINE link.
  8. Didn't see many hong kong postings but hopefully this will help someone. Tried this for 2 weeks straight before this was successful. 4* level is very pricey in Hong Kong. Tsim Sha Tsui is a no go at almost any decent price. Various combinations of Kowloon, West Hong Kong, Tsim Sha Tsui. Eventually got two rooms for four nights at $90USD each. Worked out to $834.34 with taxes. Hotel also has shuttle but that would depend on whether or not you're travelling with another as the rates are quite high, you might be better off with a taxi.
  9. 02/13-02/16 for $120/night. Tried rebids starting at $99 using $5 increments.
  10. Excellent location. Right next to Ft Lauderdale beach and the water taxi service. Water taxi is great value for the money ($5 all day unlimited). Hallways look a bit run down but the rooms are spotless. Bathrooms are a bit dark and dated as well. Didn't use any of the amenities (ie. pool) so can't tell you anything about them. The front desk staff don't appear very knowledgeable nor friendly but at a price of $53 using priceline, we couldn't really complain. Apparently the place used to be known as the Radisson Bahia Mar, so tell your taxi driver that if they can't find their way to 801 Seabreeze Blvd off of A1A. Hope this review helps the next bidder.
  11. Just following up on my stay from July 26-30th. Hotel is fantastic. You really have to see it to believe it. Didn't get a chance to use either of the pools but they looked fantastic. Three restaurants on site (stay away from Sunset Sam's, poor service). Free internet access, on-site coin laundry (you really have to look for it as they don't exactly encourage it). The resort fee is $10 bucks/day for which you get the internet access, shuttle to and from disney resorts (not Universal), and two bottles of water. Apparently you used to get orange juice too but they knocked that off without lowering the resort fee. Parking is $7 but there is no actual person checking to see if you paid. It's basically three big parking lots so nobody sees you coming or going. We realized this after we told them we had a car. Oh well. The location couldn't be better for accessing any of the theme parks. We got upgraded for free to a suite as well. Great value.
  12. Yes, very strange but it didn't accept the $85 bid 72 hours before. Just lucky I guess.
  13. Whoops, forgot to mention the dates....July 26-30
  14. This one took awhile. We really wanted a resort so kept adding areas that didn't have resorts and did separate days to finally arrive at $85. Started at $55 and went by $3 increments by adding non resort areas until we hit $80 then went by $1 increments. Finally used up all my bids, waited the 72 hours (twice), and voila...Gaylord Palms for 4 nights. I've read about the $10 resort fee but it sounds fair for what you get....(Water, OJ, internet, transport to disney, fitness, etc.) Just want to say thanks to all those that post, it's a big help in developing strategy.
  15. Bid in increments of $3, starting from $38, got the Bahia Mar Beach Resort on Aug 6-7 :)
