1. Started with the PRICELINE link from this site, bid at $11 and was offered a rebid, then $18 was accepted. Total of $74.94 with fees.
2. Thanks for the replies. I usually set my max Price.line bid to 90% of what is being offered on Hot.wire, but in this case that strategy didn't work. I would like to stay within walking distance of the National Mall, so I will keep trying for a last-minute Priceline deal.
3. Started bidding last week for two nights, Friday 4/10/15 and Saturday 4/11/15 and of course using the PRICELINE link from betterbidding.com Went through 8 re-bids topping out at $123 because I was looking for a bargain but couldn't get any bids accepted. Tried again today: 97 Downtown - White House 103 Capital Hill - Convention Center no 4 stars: 112 Alexandria West 117 Bethesda 126 Capital Hill South 132 Cleveland Park 137 DC Northeast 147 Georgetown North 158 Mount Vernon 168 Silver Spring Now I will just use my backup reservation at $233 per night to collect some hotel points or maybe try again next Thursday night. This is the first time Priceline has failed me on this scale and I wonder if it's part of a trend of hotels not releasing inventory to Priceline.
4. Started with a bid of $77, but was rejected and received an offer of $91 per night. Declined the offer, added a zone with no four star hotels, rebid at $83 and won. As always, I used the Priceline link from this site to start my bidding.
5. Based on the past history on this board, I started with a bid of $85 for a seven day stay. This bid was rejected, but Priceline countered with a $99 offer. I started over with a shorter five day stay at $93 and this was accepted. I'm very happy with this win and grateful for this board!
6. Objective: 4* Golden Nugget on Fremont Street Strategy: Direct booking price is $135, but I saw a win on this board for $80 on 9/13 so I started there using the PRICELINE link from this board. Started with my area then added other areas that didn't have four star hotels. $80 Fremont Street - rejected $85 added Boulder Strip - rejected $90 added Henderson - rejected $95 added NW Las Vegas - rejected At that point I gave up and booked it directly so I could cancel if necessary and get the extra comps and match play coupons.
7. Objective: 4 * around Times Square, price between $120 - $150 Starting bid $122 - Times Square, rejected added Midtown West $122, rejected added Midtown East $128, rejected added Coney Island $134, rejected added Long Island City $140, accepted
8. I'm really happy with this win because I previously stayed several times at the Grand Hyatt and I like this area. I was afraid I would get stuck with the Liason hotel because it doesn't have very good reviews on Tripadvisor and that area is sub-optimal. As always, I used the PRICELINE link from this site and here was my bidding strategy: Objective: 4 * Convention Ctr - Capital Hill Starting bid $83, rejected added Alexandria West $87, rejected added Bethesda $91, rejected added Georgetown North $96, rejected added Silver Spring $102, rejected added Mount Vernon $109, accepted
9. Wanted to get a 5* in Tsim Sha Tsui, so I tried: $158, Tsim Sha Shui, rejected $168, add East Hong Hong, rejected $178, add Central Kowloon, rejected $188, add Tsuen Wan, rejected start over with 4* $158, Tsim Sha Shui received Priceline counteroffer for $187, took it. This hotel was available on Expedia for $193. I couldn't price it on the Kowloon Hotel's web site because it wasn't responding. There is also an offer on Hotwire 4* $187 for Tsim Sha Tsui, so I wonder if it is the same hotel.
10. Started off looking for dates 9/5/11 to 9/9/11, 4* only $85 Downtown South rejected $91 add Don Valley rejected $97 add Burlington rejected $103 add Brampton rej $109 add Oakville rej $114 add Toronto Airport West rej $121 add Toronto East rej $127 add Toronto West rej $133 add Vaughan rej start over, dates 9/6/11 to 9/9/11, 4* only $121 Downtown North rejected $127 add Don Valley rej $133 add Burlington rej $137 add Brampton rej start over, dates 9/7/11 to 9/9/11, 4* only $133 Downtown South rejected $137 add Don Valley rej $143 add Burlington rej $147 add Brampton rej $153 add Oakville rej $162 add Toronto Airport West rej $167 add Toronto East rej $172 add Toronto West rej $187 add Vaughan rej I never even received a counter-offer on any of these bids. I know the film festival is starting around these dates, but seriously are the hotels completely full? Any tips for getting a decent hotel in the downtown area?
11. Well Priceline really made me work for this one with all the rebidding I had to do. Hotwire was listing a 4 star for $233 so I thought I would start low and try to find the cheapest price I could get in the Quincy Market or Harbor Front areas. start 4* or 3.5* $88 - rejected start over, 4* only - find areas with no 4* hotels 96 - Brighton - rej 102 - Fenway - rej 112 - Medford - rej 123 - North Cambridge - rej 136 - South Boston - rej start over, add 3.5* - find areas with no 3.5* hotels 88 - Brighton - rej 102 - Fenway - rej 123 - Medford - rej 142 - North Cambridge - rej 163 - South Boston - rej start over, add 3* - find areas with no 3* hotels 166 - initial bid for Quincy Market or Harbor Front - rejected, but received a Priceline offer for $206 - declined 187 - Fenway - rej 206 - North Cambridge - accepted In the end, I got a great location for what was apparently the cheapest price, however I've never paid this much for a room in NYC, Philly or DC. Boston is an expensive city!
