  1. A yellow "Best Value" checkmark details it. Along with 90% recom by Htwr revws, $220 othr sites is crossed out above the price. But of note, does not list free internet. And on a subsequent search another 5* did turn up $101 north strip, $122 strip south, $133 strip south and $191 strip north, the only 5* 100% recommend, so I am unable to accurately guess without at minimum 20% doubt. Thought I'd chime in since you didn't get a response yet. But educatedly 80% certainty it probably is Aria.
  2. Looks like Aria but your dates have gone up to $146. You may have been given a super sale price given to upsell a better hotel shown after multiple searches. Free park, high speed net, fitness ctr, pool, restrnt, bus ctr, golf near, spa, blind/deaf access, wheelchair access shower.
  3. As we say around here, congratulations on your success, and thank you for using the PRICELINE links of the board. The reason for my suggestion on doing the hard to get dates first is so you know what you can get ahead of you before getting the easy stuff. Like at black friday when you go for the slash priced tv first before so you can grab the easy sure things later.. but awesome that it worked out for you. It usually doesn't happen like that but it sounds like good luck that your trip will go just as smooth, sounds like a great brand name hotel.
  4. Idac, something we're assuming you already took into consideration: Remember that hotel inventories vary, so one of those days may be fully booked/reserved at this time. And they will cancel all the way up to 24 hours before their book date. So you have to break up your dates maybe and start over with bid strategy and kind of have to be willing to move at least once during your trip. If you want to save.. I would suggest break it up to weekends (peak) and weekdays (off peak). Bid first the weekends because those most likely will be the sold out dates and the weekdays will be easier to get. (Unless there is some exacerbating circumstance like a sports team at that hotel stopping by for the night) and or a convention in on that day/group of days. IMHO Personally I would try Apr 13 Fri-16 Mon, 3 nts. So that way you include your weekend with your arrival day. Ideally, you get it. But if you don't here's another subset of problems as You now have to guess if people are there for the weekend (and then you need to figure out a Fri+Sat, or just a Saturday sleepover.) And because your travel day is going to be hectic and whatnot, I would try the Fri 13-15 Sun combo. And for the remainder of the balance of the trip you would get the rest of the days together ie, 16-18 in scenario one or 15-18 in scenario two. And yes you can wait until more cancellations come in but as a previous poster said, it's one of the last weeks of spring break so you might not even get a chance to bid like I advised because people are already picking and choosing what they need and taking the inventory out from under you. For your sanity, I wouldn't gamble on it, but saving money is a great game, and if you're brave enough, and don't mind taking a hit if you misjudge or have faulty luck, then wait.. but don't come to me crying, it has to be your decision, and now armed with knowledge, choose.. and report back with your findings.
  5. $32 per room per night. Tax recovery charges & fees: $28.74 Subtotal: $156.74 "See all" hotel amenities show only: Pool. Recommended in 90 % of Hotwire customer reviews, but no TripAdvisor Rating.. A yellow checkmark "Best Value" Hotel. I'm baffled. Dates may need to change. But I'm aiming to save, as this is a business trip. That or couchsurf or B&B with someone for $40 a night.. TIA You are a better man than I am if you can figure this out. My sources don't even have Phoenix for one of them and the other isn't updated I think. Wonder if this used to be a 2.5 or 3 star... hmm.
  6. Gold Nearby? ahhaha. My guesses: Monte Carlo Luxor Flamingo Ballys Did you ever book? Please report back so that the board can know. And so it can help others.
  7. This is Monte Carlo or Luxor. I am not a moderator like yellowdog but from research I am 99% confident without issue that it is one of these hotels and they both have the same amenities so there is almost no way to tell which is which IMHO. Remember to book through the HOTWIRE link and update us when you book it so that the board knows what the hotel ultimately is or let us know so that the thread can be closed out. And by the way, my data shows the Trop at 2.5 currently. So you can cross reference amenities, and look on TripAdvisor but IMHO the Trop is lower than Luxor or Monte Carlo considerably to be differentiated. But it should be noted that The Trop did very recently go through multi-million dollar renovations. So indeed it's rating may have changed drastically. In the interest of full disclosure. So on further review on Tripadvisor, it seems The Trop can be considered a 3.5 hotel and moderator thereuare did speculate it was that. However your date has passed, if you did book that day please report back so the thread may be closed.
  8. My bet on this is the Riviera. There is a small chance you might get lucky and get the Stratosphere, but on my research independent of this site (I am not a moderator like thereuare or AaronJB) I have found that if you see the Spa icon, it is most likely that it is the Riviera. Please report back to the board and use the HOTWIRE link to book. However this is not a 100% guarantee, however also, I am most confident that it is one of the two. I myself did a test booking for a stay in Vegas through Hotwire and I got the Riviera at a $21 rate plus $10 commission to Hotwire. I booked through Travelocity's Top Secret Hotels section the weeknight before and I got Stratosphere for $20.40 plus their commission. And their Amenity rating is about the same also. 3 Stars and almost everything but Strat even though they have a Spa type of service offering, it doesn't yet seem to be shown as an amenity yet. Also when put in several database searches the Stratosphere does not show up when the Tennis nearby icon is chosen. This is why I am putting my bet on the Riviera.
  9. What did the old Amenity list for this hotel have? Because yes the inside of the room looked quite different and much better even though the window was still a small one. IIRC the last time I went years ago it was a 2.5 star maybe? Definitely an improvement in the rooms. Casino itself is old looking tho.
  10. I believe for all Vegas has to offer, people on this board are right for going for the higher star hotels. I also would concur that unless it's a cost cutting trip, only go for 3 stars or above for Vegas. Or at the very least if not, then go for as close to 100% recommended by reviewers (don't go for hotels that they are still gathering information on) (which was this one) and as a last resort, if nothing else go no lower than a Tripadvisor rating of 3. Like you said on another post. a 2.5 TA review rating should be enough to keep anyone away. But then again I have maybe a little higher standards because I know what is out there. And this is even without experiencing 4 or 5 star hotels. Well except for the Ru sh Tower at Golden Nug get or The Rio if you count those two. Glad to be of service.
  11. (forgot what specific area they called it) Hotel Amenities they list; however I don't recall which ones were revealed at booking, I just wanted to book one right away because the site has a habit of selling out and still keeping that listing on, I guess as a selling point. Swimming Pool Restaurant On Site High-Speed Internet Room Service Gambling Facilities Dry Cleaning/Laundry Golf Course Business Center Convention Center Meeting Rooms $7.50 resort fee. Front desk guy Ron was nice however the supervisor, a middle aged guy was alright, however he wanted to downgrade me severely to a lower floored room, so I was willing to take my chances at gambling and I got a 14th floor at a different hotel. So he lost my business. Not even an apology for the flooding that occurred on the top 14th floor of that far wing of the hotel, just that he had to check into it, not believing me. He did offer me a lower rate but at that floor, the point was mute and not what I was only looking for. Being woken up at an early 5am in Vegas is really early if you factor things in like when you get back to the hotel that morning. This is pertinent so you can decide if it's worth it for you because all a hotel room is worth in Vegas is the sleep you can get there right? Amazing rate though. Must really have been low occupancy, and I might have made management not list anymore on the site as I see them not on there anymore it seems. Hopefully, it's just them being booked fully...
  12. Amenities: Casino Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Spa Services Forgot the recommendation in xx% of Hotwire customer reviews Quite impressed that the Riviera got better. Checked in later so I think that was the key to not getting a really bad room on the 2nd floor. Self check in kiosk meant I did not trapese in all the way to the front desk just to check in or out. 37 inch flat screen, updated bathroom fixtures and appliances. Water pressure so strong I almost fell out of the shower when I first turned it on. Literally. Still loud (I could hear planes last time I was here a year and a half ago or so), because early in the morning there are construction workers underneath that scrape loose rock with metal shovels on pavement. The point is that you could hear that from your window 14 stories up. But the new decor is nice. Bed is a Sealy made specifically for the Riviera. A little firm but more comfortable than some I've slept on. This is a semi-win/semi-success for me as the rate was superb, but yet I was hoping to get the Strat, however I'm feeling that even though the star ratings and location match, the Strat has more on it's amenity set. If I recall, the deposit was small on the card and internet was $11.99. Was booked right after check out and some delay over at Strat where I stayed the night before. So around Noon - 1PM this booking was made if that factors in any for how the Riv sells itself on Hotwire. However I caution doing that, I only did it because I did not know if I was staying another night. If you find a deal, book it. Especially if it's a weekend. This was a weekday booking; however a weekend booking of 3 days I waited on actually went up. So gamble-book at your own risk..
  13. Great site. How did you know it was the HRH before you booked it? I only show prices and not names..
  14. In November I got this great hotel for $42 + tax, it's a great stay with really nice front desk staff when I got in in the morning.
  15. Amenities include on my itinerary: Airport Shuttle Pool However I believe I did also see it include on other times when looking on Hotwire; (and also because this facility did have these things): Complimentary Breakfast (not great, but sufficient to fill up on, and free) Business Center (a little corner with a computer in the front waiting area) Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Right under the flight path of McCarran, not loud but noticeable. Ear plugs provided in every room. But it's not so bad actually compared to the noise of the planes outside when they fly over. Doors didn't feel solid, once closed could be wiggled in it's frame. The younger Asian staff was nice, but the white guy was rude, seemed like he hated his job. So seemed the foreign night shift older guy. I wouldn't call this a successful booking. The clientele was horrible. Biker gangs and other low class types. But for the rate, when others were paying $99 for a walk in rate (higher than internet direct bookings which were $49.99) Very comfy bed however. I believe it was a Simmons. I asked for a Deluxe room that was a step up and it had a pull out couch and was a bit better. 42 inch generic flat screen too, but terrible reception. I could be mistaken but I think it was free internet. Hotwire classifies it as Near Strip East but it's really more like Airport Area.
  16. Was there Apr 28 - May 1, 2011, paid $62 West of Strip area. 3* Breakfast, pool, Fitness Center, Business Center, no idea what Modified American Plan even would be. And it was indeed the HIE I-215 on Rainbow..
  17. Chose to Hotwire closer to town for two more days. Want to update that this HIE location is not as bad as where I'm staying now. Next time, I'm bidding a one day when we don't know for sure where it is. Incomparison to where I am now, that location was actually quieter and the clientele is more upscale and you don't hear as much noise from slamming doors as this location I am at, which I will reveal later, but it's very close to the airport and only a 2.5* if that gives you any indication. And Hotwire placed it "near Strip East" even though it's more like "Airport Area."
  18. You merged the posts and retitled the individual post so it looks like I did that. If people read this in the future, those were priceline bids and then moderator thereuare merged the post with a separate post for the hotel on Travelocity. Just so people know. Because there is no bidding on Travelocity. Just in case it confuses everyone. I didn't post it like this.
  19. Hotel Amenities: Block away from I-215 Coffee Bean Drive thru closeby, 7-ELEVEN also. Swimming Pool Courtesy Breakfast Non-Smoking Shuttle High-Speed Internet 3* Travelocity Rating 4 Smiles Traveler Rating Way far out of strip. About 6 miles out. The strip hotels look so small from here. You can hear planes until 1-2am. But it's not as bad as Riviera.. Breakfast staff nice. Night shift guy not at all. Loud a/c heat unit. 1st story back view is blocked 2nd story partially obscured by trees Even 4th floor not that great. Nice showerhead. Medium grit sandpaper toilet paper. So, not so bad. Mints in lobby. Free internet, but end rooms have bad reception. Wired internet avail, but cord does not reach bed, only at desk.
  20. Sure but I think this thread would have been more useful in the Priceline board because it listed failed bids for Priceline. That's the most important part of the thread. I'll look in that other section for Travelocity stuff. My rate was 47. Hotel Amenities (Additional fees may apply to some amenities) Swimming Pool Courtesy Breakfast Non-Smoking Shuttle High-Speed Internet
  21. It's okay that we didn't get to find out that 2* strip east hotel. Probably should have jumped at that instead of gambling that it would have gone lower.. The board did help though in telling me what was what I didn't want. Like the Microtel and the Super 8 although that would probably have been a better option distance wise than what I got.. More on that later. So Travelocity also had this thing called "top secret hotels" where they also hide the name of the hotel until you pay them. It's so people can't price match the lower price. So anyway they had a 3 star in "airport and convention center area" even though we all know that's not the same area at all by even PL or HW standards. But I guess they just lumped it in there. I was hoping to get it, but it was sold out and the computer system dragged their feet to update it. Either that or it was a schill to get other 3 stars sold. So after many many many times of trying; I would about ten, over the course of a couple of times one day and the next, I just was playing around with the other 3 star, but forgot it was strip west and i was so tired and fed up with this game they had, and having me call in to their call center in india and having the first guy tell me my card was bad, wtf. And then the supervisor finally not lying to me and saying it was sold out. I mean forreals. So I forgot it was strip west and wanted to test again to see if I could get the airport/conv centr area and forgetting I chose the 3 star west. And it went through. no refunds or cancellations. I was upset to say the least, big disappointment. If only someone somehow would have told me what that 2.5* was and/or Travelocity not lying and playing games then I would not be so far out west to the strip. I'm here on business but it deals with the strip. I have a car but i still want to be able to access the stuf in town and not be 15 minutes away. there's so much traffic now from the construction, hate it. takes so long and the drivers here cut you off but when you need to get by, they block both lanes in a 2 lane road. idiots. this is why you stay near where you need to be. Why do people say the thing about colsing threads? it seems like you still can comment.. but yeah whats done is done cant get help now i waited tooo for a long time for responses on some posts, guess the board isn't lik that it used to be whn you started it. i guess 6 years ago. that's long for internet years. you going to open up a Travelocity section also for the different city/state places?
  22. Okay thanks man. Have a good stay. Should have bought the rate while I still had a chance. It went down a little on Monday but mostly because of the conventions this weekend was mostly sold out of the cheap rooms close to town that were still at least somewhat decent or had more than a 2.5 Tripadvisor rating.. Btw, it's $53 now. It went back down to $47 at some point in the day I heard, but I didn't get to see it in time.. Also if anyone else in the future is going to read this it says it's 3.5 out of 5.0 TA rated and no mention of a resort fee.
  23. Really disastrously high. In the hundreds for the strip hotels I usually book through, the big ones on the strip. Even Excalibur is 85 on the lowest night and $1xx for the weekend nights. Must be a convention or three in town. I would expect thisfor CES/AEE but not the last week of April, ugh. I see $49 for Candlewood on the sites that show the names of the hotels and such, that's a 3 star suite (or so they say) and I never book on chain hotel websites anymore, they all seem double or full rack rate (with sometimes very minor negligible ($5 discounts) compared to say Hotwire, Travelocity (their non-opaque side). Their $35 3 Star Travelocity Rating "Top Secret Hotel" for their "Airport and Convention Center" area Pool, Non Smoking, Internet, Shuttle is listed but it won't sell it to me stating it's sold out. 4 Smiles Traveller Rating but who knows even what that means. Priceline bidding is exhausting to say the least. I wonder if this is just a ploy, and that there are actually no more rooms in this level in the inventory now, I really do not want to wait til the end to see if they release more rooms, I need the room on the night of the 28th Thursday. And I really don't want to see the only rooms available at twice the cost. D: No suggestions eh? I might just get something outside of Priceline. But I have a $40 Priceline Bonus, but it just doesn't look that great in the cards right now. Is Priceline that popular with the lower star bookers? It seemed so much like the Hotwire side of this forum was more active IMHO.. I could be mistaken mb, it is just an opinion. Observation.. Kinda really sucks. I'm there on business and I didn't know until Sunday and that's when I started booking and rates have been going up a little down Monday morning but mostly up now. : (((
  24. Dammit, now I'm mad. It was $47, now it's $51, guess we'll never know now... :/
  25. Could also be 2.5* Extended Stay Deluxe (East Flamingo) Amenities: Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Fitness, Laundry
