  1. Since I will be arriving late Friday night, my goal is to stay near the airport and to use public transportation during my stay. I've been bidding everyday for the last 4 days, and that super-low price hotel was not looking promising.

    Search dates are 8/3 - 8/5

    Yesterday: Bid $77, 3* Seattle Airport;

    $82, 3* Seattle Airport, Seattle Center;

    $92, 3* Seattle Airport, Seattle Center, Seattle Downtown;

    $98, 3* Seattle Airport, Seattle Center, Seattle Downtown, Lake Union;

    $87, 3* Seattle Airport, Seattle Center, Seattle Downtown, Lake Union, Tukwila-Renton;

    Today: Bid $85, 3* Seattle Airport;

    $95, 3* Seattle Airport, Tukwila-Renton; SUCCESS!

    I'm just relieved to have a nice place to stay and I really can't complain about the price. As always, thanks for this site to use as a guide and a starting place by using the PRICELINE links! Yay!

  2. I just want to make a correction to my prior post in that I was not offered an additional room for $103. After winning the bid, I rebid to add a night on the check-in for the same rate. That bid was rejected and another window popped open for me to check-out what other offers are out there starting from $103. When I checked the necessary dates for this specific Doubletree, the rate was $149/night.

  3. I'm planning to be in Seattle the first and second weekends in August. So I have been bidding different variations of the necessary dates with little success. (You can read all about it in this previous priceline hotel post with the same hotel and price.) Anyhow, after finally winning for the second weekend, I began to try different bid combinations for the first weekend. All my low bids for 8/3 - 8/6 had been rejected. During my latest session, I tried different variations (Fri- Sat, Sat - Sun, Sun - Mon) for parts of the weekend. I was successful in getting 8/5 - 8/6 at $72/night and I was hoping to add a night at the same price. The add a night option was rejected, but I could book for $103 without bidding. I opted not to take it and will try to rebid in the near future.

  4. I'm planning to visit Seattle Aug 3rd - Aug 6th, then return Aug 11th- Aug 13th. Because of arrival and departure flight times, I want to stay near the airport as well as be close to the light rail. So, I've spent most of this week hoping to win a bid similar to some of the prior post which was $55. Here's a summary of the bid history:

    day 1- bid 1: 8/3 -8/6, 3*, Airport, $55 rejected

    bid 2: 8/11 -8/13, 3*, Airport, $57 rejected

    day 2 - bid 1: 8/3 -8/6, 3*, Airport, $61 rejected

    bid 2: 8/11 -8/13, 3*, Airport,Seattle Center-Space Needle, $61 rejected

    day 3 - bid 1: 8/3 -8/6, 3*, Airport, $62 rejected

    bid 2: 8/3 -8/6, 3*, Airport, Seattle Center-Space Needle, $67 rejected

    bid 3: 8/3 -8/5, 3*, Airport, Seattle Center-Space Needle, $65 rejected

    bid 4: 8/3 - 8/6, 3*, Airport, Seattle center, Downtown Pike Place, $72 rejected

    day 4 - (the 24 hr wait period had not completely passed- 22 hours later) 8/11 - 8/13, 3* Airport, $72

    I was really happy to get the Doubletree (especially after all the rejections!) After getting this win, I retried get win this hotel for the first part of the trip. I could not try 8/3- 8/6 since the original 24 hours had not passed, so I tried different combinations with the idea of adding a night. Any case, I won 8/5 - 8/6 for $72, did not allow to add a night to the check-in. I guess they're full! Will try again later.

  5. So, I've spent the last couple weeks researching this board and the internet for hotel rates to make an "informed" bid for my upcoming trip to Cananda next month. Low and behold, I receive an email about a 24 Hr Hotel Sale from Priceline yesterday, the offer was for $7/night up to $70 of bonus cash. Whoo-hoo!

    I log in to betterbidding.com, click link for priceline and login to my account..go to my rewards, choose this coupon...then the bidding process goes as follows:

    Bid 1- $78 (+$7 bonus cash); 4*;Downtown, City Hall/Downtown South REJECTED

    Bid 2- $83 (+$7 bonus cash); 3.5*;Downtown, City Hall/Downtown South REJECTED

    Bid 3- $78 (+$7 bonus cash); 3*;Downtown, City Hall/Downtown South, REJECTED

    At this point I'm nervous about not getting to stay near downtown and don't want pay more than I need to, so intead of rebidding, I clicked "my rewards" and started the whole process again. (Not sure if that's a bug in to Priceline web site, but it worked!)

    Bid 4- $90 (+$7 bonus cash); 4*;Downtown, City Hall/Downtown South, Granville REJECTED

    Bid 5- $95 (+$7 bonus cash); 3*;Downtown, City Hall/Downtown South, Granville REJECTED

    Even more anxious than before, I go back to the map to see what other areas I can try so I can be near downtown...start over by clicking my rewards, this $7/night bonus cash coupon...

    Bid 6- $100 (+$7 bonus cash); 4*;Downtown, City Hall/Downtown South REJECTED

    Bid 7- $95 (+$7 bonus cash); 3*;Downtown, City Hall/Downtown South, Coquitlam SUCCESS!

    This bidding was mostly stressful because the bonus cash was about to expire at midnight and I really wanted to get the best rate. I'm excited about my win and my trip to Canada!

  6. As always I used the link above to start my bidding. I learned about the Entertainment Book coupon for $20 of bonus cash after reading another post. So I started from this site, logged in on priceline to redeem my bonus cash which turned out to be $5 per night that I could add to me bid. I tried to low ball by bidding $60 for 3* north coastal area and Del Mar, which would be $65 with the bonus cash. Rejected. The next day I tried $67 (+$5 bonus cash) for north coastal area only. Rejected again. I added the Del Mar section and raised my bid to $77 (+$5 bonus cash) and the bid was accepted! Yay!

    The total was $308 + $52.92 taxes and fees, with a grand total of $360.92.

    Thanks for the helpful info. This site is great!!

  7. I first made an offer of $77 for 3* Burbank so we could be close to Universal Studios. It was denied, but was offered to rebid for $20 more in the same area. I chose not to rebid, but added North Hollywood (or something like that) zone and rebid $85 for 3*. Priceline accepted and "upgraded" my bid to a 4* hotel.

    2 nights = $170

    taxes and fees = $30.52

    total charges - $200.52

    I'm pleased with the win. The only downside is that there is an $18 self parking fee.
