  1. Advice/Strategy? - 4* Toronto (Downtown) for 3 nights Arrive: Thurs., 4/10 and Depart: Sun., 4/13 I have used PRICELINE and the bidding strategy before and wanted to see if any Canada experts had any strategy advice. I took a look at HOTWIRE and the cheapest 4* was $64/night for a Toronto Downtown West hotel. From the amenities, it is either the Renaissance or the Hilton. If I recall correctly, PRICELINE usually beats HOTWIRE's rates. Should I start at $50, $55, increments? If anyone has any advice where to start my bidding and to go from there, I would be very grateful. Thank you!
  2. Well we got a 2006 Kia Spectra LX. The base model with power win/locks and CD player. It had side and curtain airbags, but no ABS.
  3. Radisson Plaza - Warwick Hotel Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square Area 1701 Locust Street Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19103 215 735-6000 Your Offer Price: $70.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $70.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $17.53 Total Charges: $87.53 Started at $60 then bid $65 and was rejected both times. Upped to $70 and was accepted. Not sure if I could have split the difference and won, but the rate is far better than what I found on Hotwire and travel sites. TripAdvisor.com user reviews give it a 3 out of 5. Seems to be middle of the road. Some really great reviews some really bad ones. 3.5 for the breakdown categories. Hotwire listed a 3* in downtown Philadelphia at $137. Radisson.com's cheapest rate was $179.
  4. PHL Philadelphia Airport Compact - Hertz Total Charges to your Credit Card: Your Offer Price: $30.00 Total Rental Days: 2 Subtotal: $60.00 Taxes & Fees: $21.98 Total Charges: $81.98 Started at 20.00 and rebid a lot until I finally got success at $30 for a compact car for during the week. What a difference from dirt cheap weekend rates. Pricing for the business travelers for sure. Hotwire was compact for ~$88.60. Shifty Thrifty car rental was ~$98 for a compact for the same two days using a discount code. Hertz.com was outrageous even using my discount codes.
  5. Your Offer Price: $46.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 2 Subtotal: $92.00 Taxes & Service Fees:$18.79 Total Charges: $110.79 Started bidding at $40 and was offered counterbid increase of $12. I went up to $44 and was rejected. I waited and rebid at $46 and was successful. The cheapest rate on HoJo.com was the senior/AARP rate of $132.07 for two nights. My mom qualifies for that rate. Hotwire had a 2* for $58 and a 2.5* for $71. We saved $21.28 over two nights. Not the biggest savings I have ever got on PL, but something is better than nothing. It can go toward the rental car. The 13 user reviews on TripAdvisor gave it 3.5/5 stars and it offers a free continental breakfast in the morning. Sounds like it will be fine for our quick trip.
  6. Hyatt Regency Boston (Upscale) One Avenue de Lafayette Boston, Massachusetts 02111 (617) 451-2600 Hotel: 1 room(s) @ $187.00 per night x 1 nights $187.00 Taxes and Fees: $30.95 Hotel Subtotal: $217.95 Total Cost: Some hotels may apply additional charges. $217.95 Amenities listed: Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Business Center. Customer favorite mentioned. My booking confirms the suspicion that the Hyatt Regency Boston is now a Hotwire 4* in the Quincy Market - Financial District area. I have three in my party so I tried Priceline for two 4* rooms and was rejected to $95 in Downtown and Logan. To go further pushed the price beyond Hotwire's. Web room rates for the mediocre 3* and 4* hotels all over Boston were pushing mid-$200s and up without taxes and fees. Ouch! I decided to go with the Hotwire hotel since it allowed confirming three people and it looked to be the Hyatt. It is my first Hotwire purchase and I will use the Entertainment Book Hotwire $30 rebate as well. Just to add, the Hotwire price dropped $3 from last night.
  7. I've also had trouble bidding for two rooms for one night, 9/18-9/19. I've gone up to $95 each for 4* Downtown and Logan. All rejected.
  8. Has anyone confirmed that this 4* QM/FD hotel is the Hyatt? In a previous thread the moderator mentioned it looked like Hotwire redrew the QM/FD boundaries to include the Hyatt. I have to agree after comparing the Hotwire map to a Google Map with the Hyatt pinpointed. Selected amenities include: Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Business Center. Customer favorite as well. Price per night: $190.00 Subtotal: $190.00 Taxes/Fees: $30.95 Total Price: $220.95 The Hyatt did have a strange nightlife package for $224 plus taxes for three that was much cheaper than anything else offered for the night. I am staying one night, 9/18/05, with two other adults. It is jam packed all over Boston. I did some bidding on PL but since it only guarantees double occupancy, bidding for two rooms reaches a point where it the value gets iffier. I read that the $10 coupon code no longer works. Bummer.
  9. Hyatt Harborside Your Offer Price: $63.00 Number of Rooms: 2 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $126.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $24.42 Total Charges: $150.42 First bid $60. Denied with $17 counteroffer. Refused and upped bid to $63 and added rebid zone. Accepted at $63. Hyatt.com prepay rate was $189 and Hilton.com prepay rate was $129 (all before taxes/fees). I thought I was sure to get the Hilton due to it being cheaper than the Hyatt. It shows, that one should never expect a certain hotel since each hotel's inventory and pricing changes. I heard that the Hyatt is nice from online reviews and am looking forward to my stay.
  10. Your Offer Price: $40.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $40.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.52 Total Charges: $53.52 Bid last minute on 5/26 and accepted on first bid. Orbitz and Expedia were $109.
  11. Hotel Name: Holiday Inn Greentree Zone: Greentree Rating: 3* Your Offer Price: $39.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $39.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $12.82 Total Charges: $51.82 Bid/rebid sequence: $30, 33, 35, 37 and accepted at 39. $82 on Holiday Inn Website.
  12. Check-In Date: Saturday, May 28, 2005 Check-Out Date: Sunday, May 29, 2005 Hotel Name: Four Points Sheraton Pittsburgh Airport Airport Zone Your Offer Price: $31.00 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $31.00 Taxes and Service Fees: $11.55 Total Charges: $42.55 Denied at $30. Counteroffered $38. Used free rebid zone and accepted at $31.
