  1. unfortunately HOTWIRE is not any better... I think I may wait closer to our dep date and hope there's some leftover inventory... thanks!
  2. hi... haven't been on in a long time as we could not afford to travel in over a year and a half... but now we can get away to Kauai for a week in Feb and I need some help in booking a car rental... I looked at all the major websites and rates for 2/13 - 2/20 range from $500 to over $1000 for the week! have prices gone up that much in over a year? can anyone provide any guidance on how to find cheaper rates? unfortunately those are the only dates we can travel... any help would be much appreciated!
  3. Recently, we had a wonderful stay at the Hyatt! So much that we're thinking of going back in December (probably 12/27-12/29) on our way back from Asia. Do you think it's too early to start bidding again? If so, when do you think we should start? Thanks again for helping us bid and win a great hotel!

  5. thanks for your help... went through the PRICELINE link and had to go through all re-bids until finally, at the last re-bid, I won the Hyatt Regency for $160... again, many thanks!
  6. Thanks for the quick reply. In the Beach zone, I'd prefer the least expensive of the two. I'd like to bid up to my maximum and then switch gears to try for a 3*. Thanks again!
  7. hi... it's been a long time since I made a request (lack of money = lack of travel) but I'm so glad this site is here... you are doing everyone a great service! I need help bidding on a room for honolulu for 4/3-4/6. I'm looking for Waikiki Beach Area, in a resort or 4 star, and paying around $150-$160 (max). I can also do a 3 star but in Waikiki City Central, paying up to $100. I would rather not do a 3 star in the Waikiki Beach Area since the Park Shore is in that zone and I did not like it the last time I stayed there. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!
  8. I made a mistake on priceline for honolulu. I named my own price for a 4-star hotel in the waikiki south area starting at $130 for 6/4/06 - 6/7/06. I was rejected at that price. I then went back and added re-bid zone 1; I increased by bid to $140. Somehow (and I'm still not sure how) my 4-star was unchecked and priceline accepted my bid for a 1-star hotel at $140!! I got the Sheraton Princess Kauilani but what I really wanted was the Marriott Beach Resort. I sent Priceline an email and will follow up with a phone call tomorrow but do you think I have any recourse? I don't know anything about the Sheraton. Is it even a decent hotel? Any advice please?!?! Thanks!!
  9. OK, if that's what the norm is... Can you help me with a strategy to get a min. 3 star rating room in the Kanapaal'i area for around $150 a night? Thanks!
  10. Thanks for the reply. I would be willing to stay in the Waikiki North and South zones with a minimum 3 star rating. I was hoping not to go over $100 a night. Thanks!
  11. hi, all. I'm running the Maui Marathon with some friends and was hoping to land a hotel or condo in the Kanapaal'i resort area. Can anyone help me with a bidding strategy? I'm not sure what rooms go for in this area but we were hoping to not spend more than $100 a day. Is that even reasonable? Anyway, any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
  12. hi, all! I'm looking for some guidance / bidding strategy for a short stay in HNL before heading off to Maui. I would prefer the Marriott, Hilton and Prince (in that order). Can you provide me with a good bidding strategy or do you think it's too early to start bidding? thanks!
  13. oh, no, not at all... I think it's a good price (the marriott website was offering $189 per night)... I'm new to Priceline and assumed they always reject your first bid... I thought I did something wrong... but in the end, I'm happy with the winning bid... Again, thanks for all your help! This board is a great resource!
  14. uh-oh... I don't know what happened but... I selected 4* Waikiki South and entered a bid of $130... and they accepted it right of the bat!! what gives? :-) Anyway, I got the Marriott Waikiki Beach And Spa for 4 nights from 5/24-5/28 (we had to tweak our travel dates because it was very last minute and these were the only dates which we could use frequent flier miles)... thanks for all your help!
  15. thanks for the response. I'm curious about the "Hawaii Prince" -- is this a good hotel? is there a different strategy to get this hotel? thanks.
  16. I would prefer those hotels but I'm open to a "decent" 3* or 4* hotel in the area. I'm trying not to spend more than $150 per night but I'm not sure if that's even realistic for Hawaii over the Memorial Day weekend.
  17. I'm trying to book a last minute hotel room at either the Hilton Hawaiian Village or Marriott Resort & Spa at Waikiki Beach for the Memorial Day weekend. I know -- good luck, right?!? Hehe. Anyway, I'm fairly new to this board and to Priceline. Can I get some guidance as to what my bidding strategy should be? Or do you think that Hotwire is the better option at this point? Any help you can provide would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks in advance!!
