To follow up from my previous posts. I ended up looking at some other sites because my bid for $140 for a 4* Hotel was rejected. I ended up calling Last Minute Travel and booked the Marriot Copley Place for $136 ($155 inc taxes.) This is 3.5* hotel and the reviews look pretty good. Plus, it's right across the street from the Westin. I can cancel this without any penalties up until 4 days before checkin. (Wed). I would have to be at $128 for a priceline bid to match (with taxes and fees) my last minute travel deal. Being as I'm right across the street, I think this is the best I'm going to do.

It looks like Copley/ Back bay would be best but Theater District is close by as well. I would like to be be about $125-140 for a bid price. I'm also considering HOTWIRE, but prices seem a little high. I would be willing to pay more for a higher rates hotel. Thanks.

I ended up staying with a friend in Warwick, RI that night instead of buying a hotel. Thanks for the info.

Hi. I have freinds staying at the Westin @ Copley Sq on 8/18. I'm looking to stay somewhere close by and am trying not to spend more than $150-175 all in. I would like to have a 3* plus hotel. Do you think this can be done. Any strategy suggestions? Thanks

I'm looking for a 1 night stay on 11/11 in the Newport, RI area. Looking for a Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Residence Inn etc type hotel for the one night. (Typically free breakfast/ free parking/ free internet, etc) Anyway, I thought that I would try to Middletown zone as that would be more likely not to have parking costs as it's out of downtown. When I selected that zone, I see this (New Guarenteed Amenities) which for the 3* shows free parking, free internet, pool, etc. Is this for real? They guarentee that the property they place you in will have these amenities? Also, any bidding advise would be great. Thanks!

Booked the 2.5* Springhill Suites in West Warwick, RI for 1 night on 7/21 for $47, using your PRICELINE link of course.

Bid on a *3.5 and 3* in the (Needham - Dedham) area yesterday up to $55, didn't get anything. First bid on a 3* today for was $61...I was hoping for one of the Residence Inn's, for the free breakfast but got the Sheraton Needham Hotel for $61 on the night of 5/7. Probably could have payed a few dollars less if I worked it more....nice hotel though, pool for this kids in the morning! They also accomodated the two double bed request.

Got the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel for $125. I started @ 4* in the Aquarium zone at $90 and went up from there using rebid zones, to no avail up to $125. I then moved to the Waterfront area @ 4* etc, etc, This ended up being a bid for *3.5 @ $125. The option to bid $30 higher without changing anything started at $112. I was hoping that I would get a little lower price, but I called the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel andthey were willing to accomodate a crib and 2 double beds so I'm happy. I've stayed at this hotel before using marriot reward points and was very happy with my stay, so all in all, this seems like a decent bid. Retail price is $359...

ok, my apologies. I'll figure out the night on 5/7 on my own. There is lots of examples of people getting really good rates, at nice hotels, so I'm all set there. So we can close that out. I'd like to focus on 5/8 downtown. I have looked at Hotwire, and there isn't anything that interests me. I can book the Millenium Boston that night with an andvanced purchase AAA rate for $172 and it seems to be going down as the date approaches. From reading other posts it seems that people are getting 3.5 and 4* hotels for around $100. So around there is where I'd like to start my bidding.....back to my question what star levels and or areas do I want to avoid so that I don't get stuck in an old hotel that has small rooms and may only offer 1 bed. I am confident that I will be able to work with the larger hotels to reserve a 2 bed room after booking as, it's a Sunday night and it doesn't seem to be all that busy on that day. I am traveling with with my wife and 2 small children for Mother's Day. We plan on visiting the children's museum on Monday 5/9. Therefore I would like to be in the quicy market, harbor front, or waterfront areas. The * rating is not that important to me, but rather the odds of getting a hotel that will have a room with 2 beds is what I'm going for. Being a Sunday night, with no know large events happening that night, I'm sure vacancy levels will be high, and I'll be able to negotiate a decent rate. I know this is a gamble, but I am willing to take a calculated risk, hopefully with a little help from you. I'm looking for suggestions on bidding price, * level and area to achieve my goal. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

So I've gotten the priceline bug....I booked a last minute room on Thursday night last week 3/31 At the Marriot in Burlington, MA at $75 and was pretty happy with that (rate was $189 on their web site), but now doing more research it seems as though I can do even better. So here's the deal... My wife and 2 kids (ages 4 and 1) are traveling to Walpole, MA on 5/7 for a party, I'm looking for a place to hang my hat that night in the area pretty cheap (Holiday Inn express style though full service Hotel). Then we would like to go to Boston for the night on Sunday 5/8 (Mothers Day). We loved our stay at the Millenium Boston 2 years ago, but just don't want to pay the rate. So I'm thinking about trying priceline for both stays. My dilema is that priceline can't guarentee 2 beds....I'm willing to gamble though. We'de like to the say in the Quincy Market or Harbor front area. Any suggestions for rates for both nights? Any hotel class to stay away from, that might only have 1 bed rooms? Looks like Club Quarters only has 1 beds based on the Hotel reviews? Other sugestions? Thanks very much, this seems really cool!
