  1. So I played with it on and off all afternoon and decided to just bite the bullet as we'd be OK with either Country Inn and Suites or La Quinta Inn and Suites Oceanfront. 3* Cocoa Beach - Cape Canaveral 5/8-5/13, 1 room, 2 adults, 1 child 80% recommended 4.5/5 TA rating Amenities: Free parking Free breakfast Free Internet Fitness center Pool(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Accessible parking Roll-in shower Overall, pleased with the price if not the location. Beach wasn't necessary though...we're down to do maintenance on our new (to us) sailboat. Too much work to do to lay around on the beach. :( Thanks again for your help and advice.
  2. Thanks. Interesting tactics. I checked to see if my original is available in 1+4 or 4+1 chunks and the only way I can get it that way is: 5/8-5/12 2 adults 5/12-5/13 2 adults, 1 child Frustrating. And after doing some more research, that MAY be the Four Points. I'm going to try your alternative in a 1+4 or 4+1 combination and see what comes up. Thanks again.
  3. Good morning. As always, I initiated my searches with the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links. I need some help IDing the following: Cocoa Beach - Cape Canaveral Area 4/8/15 - 4/13/15 1 room 2 adults, 1 child $86 90% recommended Amenities: Free Internet Fitness center Pool(s) Business center Self-service laundry Internet access Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Accessible parking Roll-in shower Thanks again for all the help you give!
  4. My apologies! I completely forgot to close this topic. This trip never materialized. Thanks again for all the help over the years!
  5. Thanks in advance for the help. Of course, I started by using the HOTWIRE link at the top. I will be booking one of the two ASAP. #1 Fort Lauderdale Intl Airport (FLL) Zone - 4* "condo" - $57 Pet friendly Smoke Free Rooms Airport Shuttle Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access Tennis Nearby Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower #2 Pompano Beach area - 3* hotel - $63 Free Parking Free Internet Pool(s) Self service laundry Internet access
  6. Naturally, I used the Priceline and Hotwire links to do my searching and bidding. Hotwire listed $58 Priceline Express listed $54 Bid $45 to start. Rejected. Added Cape Coral (no 3* or higher) and bid $48 for the win. Cheers! Love this site and love my bargains.
  7. Was looking specifically for the Vdara or I would've used PRICELINE to low-ball into the $70s. Burned myself trying that last year and got the Aria, which greatly disappointed us. So...I used HOTWIRE: The Strip - South Area Condo 90% Recommended Free Parking Free Internet Suite Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access Golf Nearby Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower Perfect. Thanks again for the great site!
  8. Thanks AaronJB. AND free wi-fi. Much better than our normal, overpriced Chicago visits! :)
  9. First time using PRICELINE for a rental car. It's a lot different than with hotels. Anyway, using the Car Rental Checker, I saw that the lowest "regular" price was $33/day for Economy. Unacceptable. :-) Bid $16 for a Full-size SUV (PRICELINE offered one for $18 after a hotel win tonight, but I didn't jump on it). That was rejected. Tried a more realistic $18 for a Mid-size car. That did the trick. Beat my Hertz Gold Plus price by $80. Not bad.
  10. As always, I started out my search using the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE QuickQuote widgets at the top of the page. Searched Tampa and St. Pete/Clearwater for a 3* or higher using Hotwire first. Once I was familiar with what was available (and pretty certain I wanted Hyatt Place Tampa Airport/Westshore), I headed over to Priceline to try to get it cheaper. Hotwire was $81 plus higher fees. Started my bid at $60 then $65 after adding Tampa South (no 3*). Waited 24 hrs then used the same zone strategy with $68 and $70. Added Busch Gardens (only 3* there is also a Hyatt Place) and went up to $72, which was accepted. Thanks again, BetterBidding for helping me save a significant amount of money. Priceline even offered me a Full-size SUV at PIE for $18/day, but I waited too long to jump on it.
  11. Thanks Yellowdog. We like that property...stay there every January. This worked out well for us.
  12. OK. First of all, thanks to you all for your help. This site is invaluable because of you great people. I decided to sit back and wait awhile, hoping that prices would come down a bit. My patience paid off. What I determined to be the Doubletree finally showed up today on HOTWIRE for our dates...$49. Therefore, I went over to PRICELINE (using your links of course) and bid $42 for 3.5* North Michigan Ave - River North. Rejected. PRICELINE has changed a bit since I last used it and when I went to re-bid, they had chosen 4* and 4.5* for me and wouldn't allow me to uncheck them. Made me a bit nervous. But, I added Lincoln Park area and raised my bid to $45. Voila! That's the best I've ever gotten for the same weekend, same property. In previous years my best was $61. This win made me feel like a champ! LOL Cheers!
  13. Happy holidays, Aaron. We're looking for walking distance to Navy Pier. This is an annual trip we do for the Strictly Sail show. The last three years we were at the Doubletree, which isn't showing up for those dates on Hotwire. It is, however, $62 on multiple other sites. That's pretty much what we pay every year. We just thought we'd look for something else relatively close...perhaps the W. If not, we'll book the Doubletree again. That said, could you help with the following? 4*, Magnificent Mile Area - River North 1/23/14 - 1/26/14, 2 adults, 1 room $53, 75% recommended Free Internet Boutique Hotel Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Wheelchair accessible Accessible bathroom Roll-in shower The boutique aspect takes the W out of the running, I would think. Thanks again!
  14. Thanks thereuare. We won't be booking this one as it's too far from where we want to be. I have another to ask about. Should I start a new thread or continue this one?
  15. 16. Again, thanks for the great board and your help. I made sure to use the HOTWIRE link when initiating my search. Apologies...couldn't edit the title Chicago - Magnificent Mile Area (River North) 1/23/14 - 1/26/14, 2 adults 4.5*, 95% recommended, $83 Listed amenities: Free Internet Pet friendly Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet Access Spa Services Accessible for the blind Accessible for the deaf I'm thinking this is the James, but not quite sure.
  17. My apologies for not reporting sooner! We did not book this trip. Thanks.
  18. Thank you, thereuare. Will let the forum know via a different thread when we book.
  19. First off, I did my research and started my search using the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links. I then went on to use your Bidding Helper (great feature, by the way. Anyway, I got a 4.5* Near Las Vegas Strip West for 11/2 - 11/4 with this amenity set: Free Internet available Outdoor Swimming Pool Free Parking Restaurant Fitness Center I didn't see a match in the Priceline Hotel List. Any idea what this might be? Thanks as always! EM
  20. First off, I did my research and booked using the HOTWIRE and PRICELINE links, as always. We always shoot for Vdara and Hotwire had it (or Four Seasons) priced at $87. Went over to Priceline and started at $72, going up in $2 increments and adding other non-5* areas. Won the Aria for $80. While it's not our first choice, it's a nice property and we'll try the $20 trick (plus we're checking in on my birthday).
  21. Sorry everyone. Completely forgot to post the amenity set. Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center High-Speed Internet Access Aaron, thanks for the high-floor tip. We'll try that this year (got lucky last year and had a nice lake(ish) view.
  22. $1 less per night than I got on Priceline for the same weekend last year. Perfect hotel for the Strictly Sail show @ Navy Pier. Naturally, I used the HOTWIRE link!
  23. Thanks AaronJB. It's a perfect location for attending Strictly Sail (which is at Navy Pier). Thanks for the recommendations...we'll be sure to check them out!
  24. Had seen the Doubletree on Hotwire earlier today for $62 but it disappeared by the time I wanted to book. Bid 3.5* Chicago - North Michigan Ave - River North Area @ $62. Got it first try. Probably could have gotten it for a few $ less but I'm happy since this is Strictly Sail weekend. Of course, I used the PRICELINE links at the top of the page to do all my searches and bidding. Sorry if this double-posted, not used to the new format of recording wins! :-) Cheers!
