  1. Bagged this hotel for the wekend of the Army vs Navy and Bills @ Eagles :) Very happy to get it for a good price on a busy weekend!
  2. In all honesty I don't recall how long the walk was from Back Bay, but I don't recall it being especially short. My Father has a lung condition that means he gets out of breath very easily so I'm looking to keep the walking to a minimum where possible but still allow them to potter around knowing they are not far from the hotel if rest is required. For some reason I didn't think about the Priceline express side, as I naturally head straight for the Name your own price button. However that certainly looks like a good deal for the dates!!
  3. Hi there, After a bit of advice and help with bidding in Boston :) I have travelled here previously on my own and I think I stayed in the Westin in the Back Bay area, which I think has now changed hands or closed. This time round I'm looking to take my relatively elderly parents for 2 nights to see Boston in the fall (I know it's the end of fall, but I'm stuck with the dates above). I want to stay somewhere close to the tourist attractions without a long walk for them to get there, so I'm guessing Beacon Hill and Boston Common are the ones that I need really. I'll need two rooms in a minimum 3.5* prefer 4*+ and idealy less than the ~$350 a night per room that I can pick up a 5* hotel on Hotwire ;) Cheers Steve
  4. Another Nice Hotel in Philly, just need one more booking now for Boston and I'm done for the year :) This was booked through the HOTWIRE link and was listed as: Hotel Amenities Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Self service laundry Internet access Accessibility Accessible path of travel
  5. Sorry forgot to add, amenities showed as: Indoor pool(s) Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access Accessibility Accessible path of travel Roll-in shower
  6. I love this hotel, especially at this price :) Booked through the HOTWIRE link here, thanks for the savings over the years :)
  7. Tried 4* same dates up to $85 first, then got this for $65 on second attempt (first was $60). Very pleased as have only heard good things about this place and have been waiting to stay here :)
  8. Forgot to add, I've been there once before. Pretty sure I was upgraded to a junior suite or something similar as there was a couch, table, fridge and microwave in the room. I think I have posted the pics to 'Real Hotel Photos' although I could be wrong...I'll go check :)
  9. It'll be high cause of Monday Night Football on the 5th :)
  10. Holiday Inn Historic District Restaurant(s), Pool(s), Fitness Center, Business Center, Laundry Facilities (self-service) 1 room(s) @ $67.00 per night x 10 night(s) $670.00 Taxes and fees: $101.95 Hotel Subtotal $771.95 Total Price $771.95 Gave up on Priceline after trying every 72 hours for the last few months and decided to hedge my bets and go with the Holiday Inn. (If I had done this about a month ago I could have got the Sheraton for the same money :) ) Before buying this I went upto $68 a night on Priceline with no luck for the same dates! I think that this is a reasonable deal still for my stay in Philly as the first weekend is the Army Navy game and MNF, and the second weekend is the Giants at home!
  11. Damn, I thought that it was $60 for this year :) I've been upto $58 for a 12/2 - 12/12 stay this year with no luck now for weeks in both 3* and 4* I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to look at splitting my bid as I think the Army Navy game on Dec 3rd is pushing up the overall bid required! So when I saw this post I thought, sweet another $2 next time round and I should score the Hyatt :)
  12. LizNYC, Thank you for the reply, I'm really looking forward to my trip and I will take your advice on the room :) mini
  13. Hi Vegas_looker, If you want to call from the UK to give them grief then use this number: 0844 462 95 95 Then simply enter the number in the USA you want to dial, with international dialing code. Calls cost 2p per minute :)
  14. Pictures added for the DoubleTree and the Hyatt from my last stays, will post reviews and more pictures of all my hotels for this trip when I get back :)
  15. Pretty sure it was $50 as I skipped to $46 then went up $ at a time as I thought it would probably come in around halfway, with the 4*'s in Philly there are plenty of rebid zones and I have plenty of time till the trip.
  16. Scored this last night after trying forever on Priceline! Aminities exactly as described here, never stayed there before but seen it out my window in the Hyatt hopefully will be pretty nice :) Seems like a good rate for a hotel over a weekend in Philly. Just like the Hyatt it's close to my favourite sports bar in Philly, Oneals on 3rd and South :)
  17. Scored this the other night for short stay in Philly between my other trips to Vegas and Miami. Started bidding at $44 was imediately offered $56 for the nights, I hadn't used any free rebid zones so just worked my way up till it took $51. An awesome rate, at an awsome hotel for a gameday weekend I think!!!
  18. Hi thereuare :) Thx for the reply, Priceline USA does have my CC details stored but it keeps seeming to 'forget' that it has them after a few bids meaning a reboot which is rather annoying! Hmmm how did I miss the Monte Carlo for the same price as the Boardwalk !!!! I read that the buffet there is great :) Thx I'll cancel my Boardwalk reservation and book the Mone Carlo, unless anything else comes up I think I'll stick with that. I have seen the Imperial Palace for that price on another site but I heard very mixed reviews about it so I'm not too keen on that one! Are there any links I can use to book the Monte Carlo that will help out here?
  19. Sorry the actual dates are in the title 11/21 through 11/25 Also in the title anything 3*+ in terms of quality, although I'm wary of dropping down to 3* on Priceline as I hear your likely to get a hotel thats not on the strip. I guess my bid limit will be $70 per night as thats what I currently have the 3* Boardwalk booked at on average, although if I can get something much nicer for a few $$ more per night then I will. However $99 for the Venitian would be a little too much. Yeah I did bid through the US priceline for a few goes but found it annying as it kept asking me to re-enter my CC details every couple of bids. So I gave up and went back to using UK Priceline. Cheers Steve
  20. Hey all, Seeing as I'm going to be in the USA for just over 3 weeks in November - December (and after advice from thereuare :) ) I have decided to go to Las Vegas as well this year :) I have been bidding using the UK priceline so all prices in $ are rough but any help would be great :o I have decided that I want to be on the strip and am not to bothered about the hotel so long as it is on the strip, as I guess I'll just be using it as a crash pad. I already have booked the Boardwalk Top Tower room thats cancel-able for $280 + tax direct from the Boardwalk. So I'm looking for something thats possibly better/same for cheaper. I have tried 4* on Priceline using free rebid zones up to
  21. Yeah I don't think that any of the China buses will actually stop by the meadowlands I 'm happy to pay $24 return to NY then the $7 return to the Meadowlands on the NJ Transit :) When I have been bidding up till yesterday, but nothing cheap as yet I've bid upto
  22. Yeah it is in a good position, and is going pretty cheap on HOTWIRE at the moment so that's always an option if I need to use it. Every time I've been over people tell me about the "China Bus" that goes to NYC for $12 but no one I have actually spoken to seems to know exactly where it departs from! If you have any further info I would appreciate it, as it will mean I'll have an extra $14 for two more beers at the Meadowlands :o I'm not bothered about wearing the Green away, well not in NY anyways! I was given a few beers by some Giants fans last season just for being from the UK and flying out to watch the Eagles play. As a sort of update to this thread, there is a website over here in the UK called lastminute.com that you can book cheap getaways and other stuff. On there in Philly they only have dates roughly 5 months in advance.... This got me thinking perhaps they use the same channels as hotwire and priceline use to book the hotels, so I tried the last dates that they had availability for in hotwire and boom the prices were cheap as chips. They had the Hyatt for $68 a night :) Just to check that this was working I tried a few days in advance and the prices were the normal ~$120 again. So I waited a few days then checked it out again and it was down to $68 :) Based on the dates that lastminute.com run in Philly, I figure that I should start my priceline bidding Friday June 3rd for the first 9 days in Philly and Sat June 18th for the second 10. Although that may change as I'll regularly check lastminute.com for there last available dates and when it matches the last day of my stay for each I'll start my bidding :)
  23. Wow, I hope that I can get something as good as that when I start bidding for my trip. That's an awesome price for what looks like a real nice hotel :)
  24. Thx for the reply :) No worries with splitting it up when I win something :) The reason for the long stay in Philly is so I can watch the Eagles :o I fly in to Philly Nov 19th and want somewhere to dump off my junk and shower before I hit a bar to catch up with a few friends. I'm then going to get up early the next day to catch the Greyhound to NY for the Eagles @ Giants. I did think of staying in NY that night, however last year I got a Hotel in Secaucase (spelling) and so have done the whole day thing in NY. I just got the NJ Transit in instead of waking up in the city. Plus it means I can catch the Greyhound back to Philly night of the game and hopefully celebrate with a bunch of Birds fans. Week after I there's thx giving and stuff which is cool in Philly as I know a bar that does free food and is v.friendly, then the Packers game.... Then I hit Miami as the post above says for 4 nights and back into Philly Friday for Army v. Navy on Saturday, Sunday rest and then MNF :) I guess that then I have a few day spare that I could visit other places.....or I could just get drunk and hang out with friends in Philly.....then Giants again on Sunday and fly back Monday. So I don't really have much time to play with, lol Just to stray back onto topic, the prices on hotwire for both sets of dates aren't too different for what I believe are the Crown Plaza (Downtown East) and the Holiday Inn (Historic) with the Crown Plaza being the more expensive of the two. Although as you say when you check the hotel websites there is quite a difference. I'll keep you updated as to how it goes, thx again
