1. I was bidding only for a 4* in the Minneapolis/Bloomington West zone. I started bidding at $49. I increased my bids by $2 until I got this hotel for $55. Total for 2 nights wih taxes/fees was $133.38. Seems like a good deal to me. Thanks to all who keep this site going.
2. I was bidding on all three Fargo area zones (West Fargo, Fargo, Moorhead). I started bidding at $57 for a 3*. It was rejected, with a message to rebid immediately for $75. Instead, I added the 2.5* level and immediately got this hotel. It seems slightly better than I could have received on PRICELINE EXPRESS deals. The cheapest rate shown on their website was $99.44 with tax; this room cost me $69.25 with taxes and fees. I used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link. Thanks to all who keep this site going.
3. I was bidding for a 3* hotel in the 6 closest zones (roughly) around and including downtown St Paul. I got this hotel on the first bid of $49. Arrgh! It seems like a decent value, but I've stayed there before and it's not my favorite. Anyhow, the total with taxes and fees was $61.43. Cheapest rate that I saw on their website was $161.00. Thanks to all who keep this site going! I used the BetterBidding link.
4. I was bidding in the Chicago Suburbs zone for a 4.0*. Started bidding at $48 and raised my bids in $5 increments until I was successful at $63. Total cost with fees was $76.69. One caveat-- when I placed my bid, Priceline added a $10 hotel fee to the total. When I got my receipt it says, "There are no hotel fees at this hotel. Hooray! The hotel fee is charged by the property at check-in" --so I don't know if I'll get charged more when I get there or not. Thanks to all who keep this site going. I used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
5. I was bidding in six zones in the Minneapolis area for a 3.5*. My first bid of $50 was accepted at the Sheraton Minneapolis West in Minnetonka. Total with tax and fees was $62.61. I saw motels matching this one in zone and star level show up on Hot.wire and Priceline.Express for $54-$56, so perhaps I should've started in the $45 range. The cheapest rate I saw on their website for the same dates was $169 plus tax, so it still seems like a good deal. Used the Betterbidding PRICELINE link--thanks to all who keep this site going.
6. I was bidding on eight Minneapolis zones--except Minneapolis downtown and Downtown east--for 3.5* hotel. I got it on my first bid of $55. I hope I didn't bid too much! The cheapest price I saw on their website was $152. Total with tax was $68.66. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link--thanks to all who keep this site going.
7. Started bidding in a lot of Minneapolis zones for a 3* at $48. Increased my bid by $2 increments until I got the Best Western Kelly Inn in Plymouth at $52. I stayed here a few years ago and was very disappointed. I left a scathing review on Priceline and mentioned that it should only have been rated a 2*. I hope they've improved in service since then. BTW, this in the Minneapolis-Northwest/Plymouth, not the Minneapolis Northwest/Maple Grove. At one time I believe these zones were combined at one time. Total with taxes/fees was $67.24. I used the Betterbidding PRICELINE link--thanks to all who keep this site going.
8. I bid $45 for a 3* in Fargo, airport, and Moorhead zones but failed. Added Fargo east at $46, but still failed. Added a 2.5 star and lowered bid to $44 and failed again. Added 2* and lowered bid to $39 and got the Econo Lodge West in the Fargo zone. Total with tax for one night was $50.63. Thanks to all who keep this site going!
9. I probably overpaid for this motel, as I see that the last two wins in the past nine months were at $37 & $39 respectively. I had spent too much time bidding, so I didn't lower my bid that much when I added the 3* level. We'll see how it turns out. Total paid for two nights with taxes/fees was $118.16. The best rate I saw on their website was $306.22 for two nights with tax. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link. Thanks to all who keep this site going!
10. I started bidding in the Walker zone for a 3 star at $80. Got a message that I could raise my bid to $108 and bid again. Ha! Raised my bid to $90 and added Bemidji. No luck, so I added Mountain Iron and raised my bid to $100 and got Chase on the Lake resort. I know nothing about this resort--looks like an old school resort/motel. I was certainly bidding at the last minute, and everything in northern Minnesota was nearly full/really expensive, so this seems like a fair price. Total with taxes for two nights was $233.30. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
11. FYI, this hotel is located in Brooklyn Center. $54 plus taxes and fees for a total of $68.86 Amentities: Free Parking Free Breakfast Free Internet Pet friendly Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Pool(s) Restaurant(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities (self-service) High-Speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Accessible for the blind Accessible path of travel In-room accessibility Accessible bathroom Handicapped parking Roll-in shower Thanks for all who keep this site going.
12. I started by bidding on most zones with a 3.5* available. Started at $45, tried $50, and finally got the Doubletree Hotel Minneapolis Park Place/Minneapolis West for $55. Total with taxes and fees was $70.45. Used the Betterbidding PRICELINE link. Thanks to all who keep this site going.
13. A side note to my win here--I originally tried to get in the new zone of Brooklyn Center--a few months ago PRICELINE was showing a 4* there, but now only show up to 3.5*. I bid up to $85 for the 3.5* for this same night, with no success. For this win I bid on a 3.5* in the following Mpls. zones: Bloomington West/MOA, Brooklyn Center, Mpls Midtown, Mpls NW/Plymouth, and Mpls. West. I started at $39 and increased my bid $1 increments until I got the Doubletree at $47. Total with taxes and fees for one night was $61.52. This seems to be an average Priceline rate for this hotel. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link. Thanks to all who keep this site going.
14. I was bidding on the same day as arrival, so I didn't have a lot of options. I was still trying to get a 3.5* or 4* in the new Brooklyn Center zone so I started bidding there on a 4* for $50. No luck, so I added Minneapolis West and Bloomington West as well as adding the 3.5* level. I increased my bid to $54 and got the Le Bourget Aero Suites in Bloomington. This is my second stay here and we've enjoyed both times. I've always upgraded to a king suite for $15/night which has a separate bed room, two tv's, and a sleeper sofa in the living area so the kids sleep there. I used the betterbidding PRICELINE link. Thanks to all who keep this site going!
15. I was trying to get the new 4* in the new Brooklyn Center zone. I had bid up to $64 with no luck. I started a new bid and selected 4* in Brooklyn Center and downtown Minneapolis and bid $53. I got The Hotel Minneapolis Autograph Collection on the first bid. Total with taxes and fees was $68.49. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link. Thanks to all who keep this site going.
16. I was bidding with $6 bonus cash. I started by bidding $22+$6 bonus on a premium car but was rejected. Added the full size category and lowered my bid to $15+$6 bonus and was accepted by Hertz. Thursday through Monday. HOTWIRE was offering a full size at $22/day plus taxes/fees, so my offer at $21/day (with bonus cash) would've still saved me money even if I wouldn't have had the bonus cash. I don't rent a lot of cars, so this seems like a pretty good deal. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link. Thanks to all who keep this site going.
17. I just found out that this hotel was previously branded as a Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza--I think it was rebranded in the fall of 2011. I'm still confused about the zone.
18. This is actually the Holiday Inn, not the Holiday Inn Express Hotel and Suites. I'm not sure if I made a mistake when I posted it or not, but I can't figure out how to edit my previous post. I am confused about the exact zone--The address is 2700 Pilot Knob Road, Eagan, MN 55121, and Priceline's map clearly shows it in the Eagan zone, but my confirmation from Priceline says Holiday Inn Mpls/St Paul Arpt-Mall Of America. Anyone else had this problem? Also, I think I'm right about being concerned with the star rating--the motel's website shows only queen or double beds, no kings!
19. Started bidding at $45 in 5 different zones on a 3.5*. Increased my bids by $2 each time until I got this motel at $57. I'm a little nervous--most Holiday Inns don't justify a 3.5* rating in my estimation. Total with taxes for two nights was $138.70. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link. Thanks to all who keep this site going.
20. First, I was bidding with $5 bonus cash, so I assume that my winning bid was actually $54+$5=$59. I started bidding at $41 in Fargo and was rejected. Added the free rebid zone of Fargo East and bid $45--no luck. Started a new bid with Fargo and the free rebid Hector/Airport area and bid $49--again, no luck. Added Fargo East again and bid $54 and got the Settle Inn and Suites in Fargo. My friends who I made the reservation for said the motel was "really nice". I used the Betterbidding link to PRICELINE. Thanks to all who keep this site going.
21. I started bidding at $45 for a 3*, but was rejected. Added a 2.5* and left my bid the same and was accepted immediately. Total with taxes and fees was $59.60.
22. I was bidding on 3 rooms, and my date was non-negotiable. I started at $45 for a 3* with no luck. Added the 2.5* level, left my bid the same, and got the LaQuinta. Used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
23. Here was my bidding process: I bid $50 for a 3.5* in South Newport News. No luck, added North Newport News and bid $55. Added Hampton and bid $56. Now bidding in all 3 zones, I added the 3* level and lowered my back to $50. Added the 2.5* level and lowered my bid to $45 and got the Springhill Suites in Hampton for a total of $58 and change. I LOVE Priceline and I LOVE BetterBidding. I used the BetterBidding PRICELINE link.
24. I had $10 bonus cash, so my actual winning bid was $43 for a realistic bid of $53. I was bidding for a 3.5* in the following zones: Bloomington west/MOA, Airport/Moa, Minneapolis west, and Woodbury/Oakdale. I started at $29(+$10), increased my bids by $1 using my free rebids, until I got the Le Bourget for $$43(+$10) I used the Betterbidding PRICELINE link. Thanks to all who keep this sight going. For what it's worth, I had bid up to $40(+$10) for a 4* in Bloomington West trying to get the Hotel Sofitel, but had no luck.
