  1. Sorry, I guess I was trying to tell you that this was the hotel i had won and the info,,, I rarely post here, but was trying to help out.

  3. I had a similar situation in Nashville... the hotel had a popular bar in it... The noise was unbelievable, but at about 2 am i finally get to sleep, only to be awakened about 2:30 am by the sound of a large window or mirror crashing in the room next to me and a couple screaming obscenities. I had to call the desk and then listen to them evict the couple and vaccuum glass until 3:30 am. The hotel was NOT a 3 star like I paid for and the floor was dirty, area not very good area, and we actually got stuck for 10 minutes in their elevator. I complained to the manager and he personally refunded me $100, which was about what I paid for the two nights. I did not even have to get involved with Priceline or Hotwire (not sure which I used), except to reply with a negative 'would not recommend' review ....
  4. MrVegas711, I consider your situation much different from the original poster's. When using hotwire, a reasonable yet unwritten & unspoken (to my knowledge) 'rule', is that Hotwire only contracts with reputable hotels and will 'assure' you of a relatively clean, safe lodging based on star level. Even a 1 star should not be a total dump. I too was recently 'refunded' for a very nasty hotel (dead roaches in between mattress and box springs, dirty floors, smoke and mildew filled room, bad area, etc). I assumed I would eat the cost of the one night's lodging and did not even bother to complain, until they sent me a 'comment' email questionnaire. To my surprise, they gave me a credit for the room. I did not threaten them or request any refund but just responded the facts about the hotel in my comment card. But I guess Hotwire felt that they did not uphold their end of the contract, even though it is not written. But when I booked for a 3 day stay in Fairfax, VA in July that I had to cancel because my job schedule changed, I did not even think of complaining or requesting a refund. I broke the contract and knew I was out the money. The original poster's situation is similar and should not be refunded in my opinion. And even though I have to cancel a paid reservation here and there, or get a 'dud' maybe one out of every 20 bookings, I still love Hotwire and have gotten to stay at some really cool hotels that I could not have afforded otherwise. Usually I am VERY pleasantly surprised at some of the nice hotels I have gotten in the past (Marriott Rennaissance for $45 in Atlanta, Sheraton in New Orleans for $48, Hilton Head for $76 etc, etc). And I truly don't think I would book anything over maybe $500 that was not refundable through a non-refundable website or agreement.
  5. With Disney it is usually better to stay on site, in my opinion... especially if you will not have your own car or rental. For the dates of your stay, there may be discount codes you can use to get a cheaper rate. There is a discount code of BPN that is good 8/19/06 thru 9/30/06 which is available to the general public. You would have to book thru Disney or else have your travel agent request the code be applied to your stay. The number of rooms that are eligible for the codes are normally limited, though. I think there may be other codes available too. Check Mousesavers.com and allearsnet.com because they usually have the most current info about Disney.
  6. I have not had anything stolen from the maids. And, actually, on my last trip to Disney World, I could not even get the maids to take their tips! The first night I left a few bucks on the table...it was still there when we got back. So I added a couple more and put it on the pillow the next day.... it was there on the nightstand when we came back. Day 3 I left a few more dollars and left it with the same note on the nightstand. Day 4 I added a couple more and put a note with it 'for housekeeping'. It was still there when we got back. Finally after day 5 we had to check out, and I left a good tip and all the previous dollars with a note saying, "This is for the housekeepers. Please keep this money." I am not sure why the Disney housekeepers would not take their tips, but the room was immaculate each day,,,,except for the tips still laying there. Those Disney housekeepers had to be the most honest folk in the world, and I hope they finally got kept tips!
  7. i made the '2 bed' gamble on my most recent purchase because I had never had a problem in the past with calling and requesting a double .... unfortunately for me, the hotel i got this time ONLY has king rooms. No doubles at all ..... :) So, if I were you I wouldn't do it. Use Hotwire or another site and be sure.
  8. well, i will,,,, i took a chance and bid on a virginia hotel for july and for the first time I got a hotel that only has single queen rooms ... blaaahhhh ..... it sucks. I usually have been able to call and request a double room with no problem. Or I use hotwire. But in this case, the cheapost hotwire price I was getting was $80. So I tried to be cheap and gamble and lost .... :) I really wish they would change this feature of priceline too.
  9. Bid placed thru savingsbarn link.... Stay dates: 07/13/06-07/15/06 I had been bidding for days for a 2* thru 3* room in Tysons Corner... I had started bidding at $32 and bid up to $47 over a course of several days. Finally I decided to try another area... Today: 1st Bid Fairfax $40 for 2.5* rejected 2nd Bid Fairfax added 2* for $45 - rejected 3rd Bid Fairfax & Tyson's Corner for 2* - $48 accepted for 2* Candlewood Suites --- 2* 11400 Random Hills Road Fairfax, VA 22030
  10. We arrived 5/13/06 for a one night stay. The location was very near Disney World and was easy to find. The room was clean, yet was showing age. The carpet needs replacing. Check in was wonderful! We were upgraded to a kid's suite which my children loved. It was large enough for 3 small children and they had their own tv, although the sound from both tvs at the same time was undesirable. Several soda machines took my money and the ice machines on our floor did not work, but the front desk promptly refunded the lost soda money without question. The breakfast buffet was large, delicious, and reasonably priced. Kids ate free! Overall it was a nice stay for the price.
  11. Sounds like you got a good deal! Omni is pretty nice, and right across the street from the Jacksonville Landing and next to the monorail system. Good bidding!
  12. Another cost saver is the deal Disney is offering from august 13 through September 30, 2006. They are offering the Disney Dining plan for free! It is about a $150-$200 day value for a family of four! You can choose from about 80-100 Disney restaurants and basically eat almost anything off their menu for free! The dining plan includes a snack, a counter service meal, and a table service meal per person per night. The meals include drink, appetizer, dessert, and entree for each person. Taxes and 18% tips are included. We paid for the dining plan this spring during our 5 day trip... it cost $429 then and we still saved almost $250! You do have to book a magic your way package which includes room and park tickets. But if you already have your park tickets, you can just book a 1 day base park ticket for each person instead of buying tickets for each day. We are Disney Annual Passholders. Our family of 4 will be staying in September for 4 nights with a one day base ticket and all of our food for free for $599! Since we already have annual passes, we were able to save some money on tickets, but generally it is doable for about $800 with tickets. Reservations have to be made before 6/5/06, I think.
  13. thank you nd88! I am learning so much here,,,, hopefully my future bids will get even better with all the insight you all provide! I was just afraid that if I added another area, I might actually WIN in that area and then I would be too far from WDW. You all are wonderful at this site! Thanks
  14. I thought I saw on another site that bidding $35 during May might get me one of the Disney All Star resorts... but I did not come here until after I bid and find I should have bid $36!! :) For one dollar more, I could've had the Disney magic...) But that is okay, at least kids eat free at the Holidy Inn and it looks like a decent place .... Has anyone else stayed there? Comments? Room for 1 night on 05/13/06 Holiday Inn Nikki Bird Resort 7300 Irlo Bronson Hwy Kissimmee FL 34747 Bid $35 Taxes & Fees $11.60 Total= $46.60 Also, I originally bid $28 and was rejected.... but then a pop-up said I could immediately rebid (without changing options, area, or category) for $7 more. The pop up said it was a one time offer to do this and I had never had that happen before when using priceline....Usually it makes me change star level or area and bid amount. Do others get this message often or was it a fluke?
