  1. That's pretty much what I've been doing for the past week; bidding $190 for TS, then adding MW and changing the bid to $195. I'd like to keep the price for a 4* under $200, and maybe $185 for a 3.5* (not including taxes, fees, etc) Best case scenario is to get 4* in TS for under $200, hoping to get the Marquis again
  2. Hi, Looking to win a 4* (or 3.5*) in TS or MW for four nights (9/19-22) We won the 4* Marriott Marquis last year in early Sept for $160, but right now, even $215 bids are being rejected, even for 3.5* hotels. Could it be the hotels are still holding on to their inventory, and I'm bidding too early at those amounts? In the past, I began bidding 6-8 weeks in advance. Thanks
  3. Looking to bid on a room in NYC for Sept 19-23. When I go to select my desired zone (TS), I see that both Coney Island and Queensborough Bridge zones are "greyed out" and not selectable. Any idea why this happens? (This is unfortunate, as these are two zones I've previously used as "rebid zones") Thanks
  4. The "Priceline Express" was showing $151 for a 4* in MSG for 11/16 thru 11/18. Based on above feedback, we decided to take a chance doing "Name Your Own Price" We had a "Priceline Bonus Reward" for $9/day. I bid $143 (plus the $9 bonus), for a total bid of $152, which was accepted by the Ramada New Yorker. So, we're pretty happy with the win. Thanks for the help.
  5. Priceline Express is showing a 4* in MSG area. It has a 7.0 Guest Rating with the following amenities: Free Internet, Pets allowed, Airport Shuttle, Business Center, Fitness Center. Could this be the "Ramada Plaza New Yorker"? If so, any opinions about it? Thanks
  6. To add to AaronJB's reply, the New York Marathon race week runs Nov 1 thru Nov 5, with the actual race on Nov 4, which may account for the higher rates.
  7. Just wanted to thank you guys for the info supplied on the site. I was looking for a bargain for a 4* hotel for Labor Day weekend (9/2 & 9/3) in Times Square. Started with TS zone at $130 - rejected Added rebid zone at $150 - rejected Added rebid zone at $160 - Accepted for the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. We won the same hotel in May 2011 for $190/night, and were very happy with that deal, so $160 seems like a "steal" for a great hotel in a great location. To make things even better, we used the rental car link in the Priceline confirmation and were able to get a Full-size rental car in Phila for $17/night.
  8. Using your PRICELINE link, I won the 4* Marriott Marquis in TSQ for May 21 and May 22 for $190. Please consider this topic closed.
  9. Using your PRICELINE link, I bid on a 4* in TSQ for May 21 and May 22. Bid for $190 for both Saturday and Sunday was accepted by the New York Marriott Marquis (which seems like a heck of a deal, considering the "listed" prices start at $449) Thanks so much for providing such a helpful site :)
  10. Yet another request, if you don't mind (for May 22-24)... Midtown Central 4 stars $184 Non-smoking/Fitness Center/Restaurant/Business Center/Hi-speed Internet 75% recommendation Thanks
  11. Appreciate your help once more identifying the following property for May 22-24. Times Square - Theater District 3 stars $180 Non-smoking/Restaurant/Business Center/Hi-speed Internet 85% recommendation Thanks
  12. I didn't realize that the HW MTC zone went as far north as CP. Thanks for that info, and the quick reply; it just may have kept me from making a big mistake. Somewhat off-topic, but how do I 'close' a topic when I'm ready?
  13. Hi, Please help identifying the following properties for May 22-24, and if those seem like reasonable rates. MTC 3.5 stars $152 Fitness Center/Restaurant/Business Center/ Hi-speed Internet 65% recommendation MTC 4 stars $173 All Smoke-free/Fitness Center/Hi-speed Internet 85% recommendation Thanks
  14. Hi, This is our first visit to this great site!! My wife and I will be coming to New York to stay two nights, the third week of May. We have some flexibility re: dates...basically, the least expensive two consecutive nights, either 5/19-20, 5/20-21, 5/21-22, 5/22-23, whatever the most affordable is. We're looking to stay in a relatively convenient area, TSQ/MTW/MTE/MSG/ESB/CPS. Financial District is also an option if it's cheaper, as our son lives on Wall St, but obviously there's much less to do down there, although taking the subway or cab to get around isn't a problem Would like to be max of $150/night, if possible We'd prefer a 3* or better, but we're not too picky (as long as we're not sharing a bathroom, and it's not too far of a walk to the subway). Do prices tend to be less during the week, or on weekends? Does it make sense to bid now, or wait until it gets closer to the date, in the hope of getting a lower rate? Thanks
