  1. I did enjoy my stay. Its hard to believe this is only a 3 star hotel. I had a king size suite on the 4th floor. It was very comfortable. I was on the side of the hotel facing the highway but I don't feel the road noise was bad at all. It had a small fridge, very small microwave, flat screen TV. The suite had a nice living room area with a desk and couch. There was a lot of storage. I was staying a few days and unpacked and had lots of room. Only two drawers but lots of shelves and cubbies. The closet was fairly small, I guess but fit all my clothes fine. The bathroom sink, mirror, and hair dryer are out in the main room and the toilet and shower are behind a closed door. This was fine with me since I was staying alone, but if you were sharing a room it might be an issue. I used the treadmill. It was a good quality treadmill in a very small exercise room (similar to a lot of hotels) overlooking the indoor pool. The front desk staff were all very friendly The hotel was completely full the last night I was there, so I was glad to have gotten a room for $55 The location was good. Nothing much within walking distance except the McDonalds which shares the parking lot but there is lots of shopping just the other side of the highway A shopping mall, Target, Fred Meyer, Best Buy all within a 5 minute drive of the hotel. Very convenient to everything. The only slight negative is when I bid on it PRICELINE had said there was a continental breakfast included but the hotel changed their policy May 31st. Since they upgraded to a Hilton property they upgraded the breakfast and now charge $5 for it. This did not affect me since I had brought my own breakfasts. I feel it was more like a 3.5 star property at least.
  2. I bid $50 and it came back asking me to raise my bid by $13 and I could re-bid. Went back and added Dallas since there were no 3 star hotels there and changed my bid to $55 and got accepted. Used the links here to go to PRICELINE.
  3. I had a great stay at the Crowne Plaza. There was no mention of my being a priceline customer at check-in, other than saying that my room was pre-paid. The clerk asked if I wanted two queens or one king, and I chose one king My room key did not work on first go, and had to take another trip down in the elevator to get it replaced, but no biggie. The room was nice and quiet, far away from the elevator dinging and the ice machine chugging. You could hear a tiny bit of road noise, but when you closed the curtains at night you could hardly hear it at all. The room was nice and big and the bed was very comfortable, with upscale linens. The bathroom was nice and clean, and included a hair dryer and a huge makeup mirror on a retractable arm. The tub was a little small, even while showering it was tight to turnaround, but the water pressure was good and the water was hot. There was a coupon for 30% off any pasta dish in the hotel restaurant, and so my friend met me at the hotel and we ate there one night. The hotel restaurant was very quiet, there was only one other table occupied. The food was very good, the prices were very reasonable, and we had great service. I looked in on the pool, and it looked inviting, and the fitness center was adequate, about the same as you get at any hotel. The fitness center had a treadmill, stair stepper, elliptical, exercise bike, some free weights, and a big screen TV with remote. Every member of the staff I interacted with were friendly and welcoming. I had room service the last morning, and they were quick to get it delivered and the food was good. The location was perfect, as it was at the intersection of two main highways, so it was easy to get on the road in the morning and do touristy things. We went to the tulip fields in Woodburn, Oregon, and then the outlet mall. The outlet mall was big, and I think it's the best outlet mall I've ever been to. I enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to others.
  4. Winning BID 3.5* Portland (Lake Oswego) Crowne Plaza $55 4/9-4/12 Congratulations, your price of $55 was accepted by Crowne Plaza Portland Lake Oswego. I kind of did this on a whim and got the Crown Plaza for $55 by adding a rebid option of Clackamas which has no 3.5 stars Subtotal $165...Taxes and Fees $30.51...Total $195.51 I'm happy to get my three nights under $200. This sounds like people have liked staying here No breakfast included but at least it's close to restaurants and shopping and only 15 minutes from my friends house. It has a pool and fitness center and wifi and a restaurant Used the link here to get to PRICELINE every time I bid Do I need to put a separate thread to show the winning bid as the title? or is this enough?
  5. I was checking out nearby Lake Oswego and see the only 3.5 star there is the Crowne Plaza which has really good reviews and a winning bid on this forum of $56 back in 12/2010. I went in and bid $53 and got a counteroffer of 68 I may try again on this one. It's only 10 minutes away from the Beaverton/Hillsboro hotels I'm trying for right now.
  6. bid $65 3 Star Hillsboro/Beaverton 4/9-4/12 Counteroffer from priceline $85
  7. Thanks. I was all panicking last night thinking I had to decide what to do right away Then I got reading on the forums and saw they do this counter offer thing pretty often and I may even get another one I'll try your strategy after my 24 hours is up tonight
  8. The two lowest direct hotel website non refundable rates are Hilton Garden Inn and Phoenix Inn Beaverton which are both around $85 So if I minus out the $10 fees priceline charges per day, definitely wouldn't want to go any higher than $75, or might as well get one of them direct It's kind of a bet wondering if I would be getting something better than the Hilton Garden Inn or the Phoenix Inn, all the other hotels are around $169 It's just a high priced little neighborhood. I know I could find something 20 minutes away for much less.
  9. I just bid $61 at priceline for a 3 star and they sent me a message asking me to try again right now quote If you are willing to raise your price by $15 to $76 per room, per night, you can try the same request again right now. Normally you are required to change additional items (add zones, star level, or dates) in order to try your request again. However we are able to extend this one-time opportunity to you because of the zone, quality level and dates you requested. ???? If this was going to be for a nice hotel (alot of the hotels in this area are $169 - 189) that would be a good price Any suggestions?
  10. I've come to realize that location is pretty important to me and I was willing to give up location if I got a really cheap rate but once I'm up past $60 per day plus around $10 per day in fees, it's not that much more to just get the hotel at the location I want, close to my friends house.
  11. Priceline winning bids is now listing a 3 star won 6 days ago in Hillsboro/Beaverton for $90 I don't know. For that, I think I'd just as soon know ahead of time what hotel I'm getting and get either the Hilton Garden Inn or the Phoenix Inn for $85.. They both have good reviews on tripadvisor. I've got time, so I'll keep submitting low bids for a few more days just in case, but then I think I'll go directly to the hotel site
  12. You're right. I'm getting about to my limit on the PRICELINE bids and will have to rethink the hotwire and Travelocity offers. The Travelocity property lists internet as their only amenity, which seems strange in a 3* . Wouldn't mind getting a breakfast at the hotel. I'll go back and look at them some more. Will let you know what I decide. Using the links here to get to HOTWIRE and Travelocity

  14. I'd like to keep it under $60 since there are hotwire and Travelocity 3* deals under $60 Thanks for the info. I didn't take into account the fees.
  15. 2.5 star rejected $53 4/11-4/14 2.5 star rejected $51 4/9-4/12 priceline recent winning bids own site quotes $50 winning bid for a 3 star hotel in this area just 5 days ago. I'm kind of surprised none of these have been accepted.
  16. 3/19/2011 Hillsboro/Beaverton bid rejected 3 star rejected $55 4/11-4/14 3 star rejected $53 4/9-4/12
  17. What I get tired of is every time I bid I have to have the security code off the front of my AMEX card. Why can't they store that info so I don't have to get up and go get my wallet every day when I do this? What's the point of registering with Priceline with a password if they won't keep your info on file Sorry. It just seems so stupid.
  18. Actually I'm surprised since the "regular" price is $84 they haven't already accepted my offer of $51. I wonder if the Hilton Garden is just not on their list at this time I was hoping to get something for under $60 a night. Of course I would love to get it for even less. Anything listed on the 3* hotel list here on the forum looks good to me. I can always stay with my friend if it starts getting too high, so I'm keep playing in the low numbers hoping for a good deal. It's kind of nice to have your own place and not impose on people when staying more than one night. By the way, using the link here to get to PRICELINE :) If I just go on every day and bid the same $51 is there a chance they will take it eventually if different hotels become available and as the date gets closer? I can always get the $59 hotel from HOTWIRE or Travelocity secret hotels.
  19. Yes, I was disappointed last time I got a hotwire hotel I thought I was getting a 3 star hotel like you might see in the Triple A travel books but it was more of a 2 star hotel, though I was perfectly comfortable, I was just a little let down but for $44 a night, it was okay.

  22. Sunday 3/13 4:53pm hillsboro 3 star $46 rejected 4/11-4/14 2.5 star $46 rejected 2 star $39 rejected hillsboro 3 star $49 rejected 4/9-4/12 hillsboro 2.5 star $49 rejected 4/9-4/12 Tuesday 3/15/11 Hillsboro 3 star $51 rejected 4/11-4/14 priceline winning bids: priceline says there is a 3 star winning bid of $51 for Hillsboro and a 3.5 star winning bid for $65 2.5 stars $50 2 star $40 hotwire has hillsboro 2.5 star for $52 and Beaverton 3 star $59 Beaverton w/breakfast, fitness center, pool, and hi speed internet 2.5 star $55 Travelocity top secret lists 3 star in Beaverton for $57 It looks like the 3 star hotels on priceline are nicer than the 3 star hotel on hotwire. I am so far just bidding on the 3 star hotels, maybe 2.5 on priceline Would rather be in hillsboro but beaverton is a fairly close second choice. Pretty flexible on dates, either 4/9-4/12 or 4/11-4/14 Can I rebid and change the date by just one day with same overlapping days? i.e. 4/9-4/12, then 4/10-4/13, then 4/11-4/14, then 4/12-4/15, then 4/13-4/16
