It took 3 attempts (using other locations that didn't have 3.5 star hotels) but eventually I got a 3.5 star hotel in the Fishermans Wharf area. With tax, it comes to $111.89
I tried getting a 3-star hotel at SeaTac for the one night, first at $45, and then again at $50 using Kirkland as a secondary because it doesn't have any 3-star hotels. No go. Will try again in 24 hours.
I never have a maximum bid per say. I just roll with it and see what happens. 2011-07-26 Update: I just tried $85 for Palo Alto for the same dates. No go. Then added Mountain View, keeping the bid at $85. No go. :-(
Tried booking a room for August 8 - 11. Started at $75. Rejected. Unlike many other locales, there are no sub-regions with only 2.5 stars or less so I'll have to wait 24 hours and try again. :-(
Tried for $60 for a 4-star in the Westminster-Broomfield area of Denver. No go. The system asked me to rebid immediately for $75. From past experience I've learned to not do this and instead go back and bid again using an additional area that doesn't have any 4-star hotels. I was successful for $70 and got the Westin Westminster. P.S. I already have my PRICELINE & HOTWIRE links preset to include the reference to your site
Just booked a 3-star hotel at SeaTac for April 13 - 15. Initially bid $46 per night and got it ... at the DoubleTree. Robert P.S. This time I remembered to go to PRICELINE through your site first!
I've consistently seen a 4* hotel in Redondo Beach that I assume is the Portofino. Watching it the past week the rate has varied between $110 - $127. Tonight it's at $124.
