  1. I just finished my 3 night stay at the Sheraton Bloomington that I posted about when I got the win in February. They now have free full-hotel wireless (that wasn't available at the time I bid, saved me ANOTHER $30) and give a $5 per day voucher good in the hotel gift shop, coffee shop or restaurant if you decline in-stay maid service. I was able to add a nice free breakfast to my already economical stay. My room was excellent for my needs. Big thumbs up for this facility.
  2. I bid about five weeks ago and was disappointed to get the LaQuinta. I'm an idiot. This is a legit 2.5* hotel in a convenient area. I'm typing this post using their free, very fast wireless, in my clean, nice room. Couldn't be happier. The consistent quoted rate at the time I bid was in the high $80's.
  3. Initially tried 3.5* Airport MSP-MOA for $38 and got denied. Then went same location, adding 3* for $42 and got denied. Sort of surprised, but not disappointed, I didn't get the Hilton. Then added Bloomington West for $36 thinking I'd maybe get the Sheraton and got the familiar "We can't answer you now, we're still working on it, we should have an answer in 15 minutes" message. I was sure they were checking with the Sheraton and yep, I got it. I've gotten that message in the past when trying to go really low and the win has always been La Quinta :) (in smaller cities where 3* and up is rare). In town for an event at the Convention Center and the problem with staying downtown for my dates is that most participants are required to stay at specific assigned hotels with Millenium and the Hyatt being the two major ones, and with mandatory high rates ($135 at Millenium) so those two usual players aren't playing Priceline ball that weekend, at least not yet -- I tried 4* downtown in the $55-$61 range with no luck. Could have waited and maybe got something, but didn't really want to risk being six blocks away, etc. and wanted to get it over with on my terms, if possible. $36 at the Sheraton Bloomington is fine. Thanks to everybody who has posted, it took a whopping 10 minutes wading through 5 pages to know what was going to happen, at least out in the Airport, Bloomington area.
