  1. Bid for 4* at Downtown-Harbor Island, started at $60, rejected. Rebid at $65 and adding Coronado area, also rejected. Rebid at $67 and adding La Mesa, also rejected. Rebid at $69 and adding Escondido - Vista, accepted. Room Subtotal: $69.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $16.62 (USD) Total Room Cost: $85.62 (USD) Used PRICELINE link on the top right corner of the website.
  2. Thank you so much on the tip about Discount Car Rental! I raised my bid on PL to $34/day for a full size and still have no success. Then I tried your suggestion and got a full size car at Discount Car Rental for a total of $235 CAD - which would be equivalent to what PL would cost at $34/day. Now we're all set!! Thanks!!
  3. We're staying at the Lodges at Canmore 7/22-7/23, and then the Acclaim Hotel near the airport on 7/24-7/26. Just realize the hotel shuttle would only work for the return trip to the airport.
  4. Thanks for your suggestion blkjck1. I'll try that if I have no luck with PL. The hotel I am staying offers complimentary airportl shuttle so I may try to find a rental car company near there. I just don't understand why the rates are so much higher at the airport - as you said the stampede would be over by then!
  5. I meant I rebid again today at $30/day and was rejected. At least this time it was rejected instead of "unable to locate available car type". Will probably try again tomorrow at higher rate.
  6. The message I got after the bid was submitted was "We were unable to locate an available car through our Name Your Own Price service for the car type you selected. We did find the following great deals available from our rental partners." I just thought it was strange because it was not "unable to accept your bid" that we usually see. I bid $30/day for full size with no success.
  7. I tried the Name Your Own Price on PRICELINE for YYC from 7/22-7/26 but the response was "unavailable". Also, the cheapest rate I found was $88/day (US$) + taxes & fees - that's outrageously high! Any idea why Priceline is unavailable and why the price is so high??
  8. My family is traveling to Kona from 4/10 to 4/17 and is very interested what deal you may get from PRICELINE. Thanks also for the info on DiscountHawaiiCarRental.com. I followed your tip and made a reservation through them for a luxury car. The total for the week is only $338, including taxes, fees and no charge for additional driver. The cheapest rate I got from Expedia was $480, plus extra $10 per day for an additional driver!
  9. Thanks. I tried, but didn't find a cheaper rate. I guess weekends costs more $$, so I am still getting a good deal at $95/night. BTW - South Bay is a GREAT place for thirty something singles so you don't really need Vegas for that! Enjoy your stay at Trump. I'm going to make the best out of my stay!
  10. three1oh - Can you tell me what travel sites you used to find the $79/night deal at the Trump? I also got the Trump a few days ago for 2/6 - 2/8 when I bid 5* on PL. But I'm paying $95 and if I can get PL to reduce it to $79, that would at least pay for the resort fee (which I also didn't know about)!! Did you call PL or email them to adjust the price?
  11. The dates are 2/6 to 2/8. It was on my original post but somehow it was modified (and my followed up question was combined with the original post). I'll use the PRICELINE link from this site in the future - didn't notice it before.
  12. Started bidding at $75 for a 5* at North and South Strip. Rejected. Rebid at $5 intervals until the bid was accepted at $95 for the Trump Hotel. One question. I noticed on Expedia that there is a $16.50 per day charge at the Trump Hotel to be paid either at check-in or check-out. Does this mean I'll have to pay more $$ than what I bid? Can anyone who have stayed at Trump Hotel through PRICELINE answer this question please?
  13. First bid at $28/day accepted. The rental days are actually 3 days (2 days and 6 hours). The total with taxes and fees was $124.79. Rental company is Hertz.
  14. I placed a bid for 4* downtown/convention center for $60. Bid rejected. Rebid at $70 and added French Quarter. The bid was accepted for the New Orleans Marriott on Canal Street.
  15. I've rebid several times with no luck. My latest bid was $135 for a 4* and it was not accepted. I'm only interested in staying in the French Quarter or Downtown/Convention area but was able to use the free rebid by adding other areas (Garden District and Metairie - Harahan).
  16. I am planning a trip for our wedding anniversary. Started bidding at $80 for a 4* in downton or French Quarter with no luck. Bid at $5 increment (adding other zones but kept it at 4*) to $105 with no luck. It is during the Jazz Festival and it is 7 months out, so perhaps I am bidding too early. Anyway, I will probably try again in a few days and is willing to go up to $120. I will post again if I get a winning bid.
  17. Sorry, didn't check the website since this was posted. Yes, it was for 28 days. As I said, it was a family reunion...
  18. Attending a wedding in Honolulu so I booked a minivan at $26/day through Avis for my family (see my previous post). Then I tried to book a car for my brother, and put in $16/day for a full size (rejected) but got the mid size at $15/day. The price for mid size through Expedia is $20/day, so I guess it's a savings.
  19. Bid on priceline today for a rental car in Honolulu. Started with $24/day for a SUV (rejected), tried $25/day for a luxury (rejected) and finally got a minivan for $26/day.
