  1. I did book a back-up. I am not very familiar with EasyClickTravel or Hotwire, but I guess it is time to learn about them. Thanks for the advice. I'll let you know how it works out. It seems we've lucked into some busy dates for this trip.
  2. Bid for 4* hotel in downtown Philadelphia, beginning quite low & going up to $110. Still rejected. I think there is a conference going on at the Hyatt..it looks like Tuesday only might be possible, but I am not sure I want to split the nights. I wonder if there is any hope of rooms being released between now & then?
  3. Yeah, that's how I checked. You're right, it has probably just changed since the original thread was posted. I always check right before adding a free re-bid zone. I just keep an extra Internet Explorer window open & use it to double-check.
  4. I haven't actually checked it out, but I did see a referance to it on this forum. Thanks for the link. I will check it out. That may very well be where we stay. Thanks for the help!
  5. Tried for Inner Harbor 4* for 2 rooms, 2 nights (July 28 & July 29, 2006). Failed all the way up to $125.00. Tried for Inner Harbor 3* same dates and failed all the way up to $100. Tried for Inner Harbor 3* for July 29 only & failed up to $100.00 Booked a back-up cancellable reservation at the airport and I guess I'll try again in a day or two. Does anyone know of conventions, etc? I know the baseball team is in town, but I also saw that another member received a 3* in Inner Harbor for baseball game nights earlier in July for $50.00. His nights were week-nights, however. Any suggestions? Thanks! PS I used Savingsbarn link & will continue to.
  6. I realize that this is an older post to which I am replying, but I am presently doing the exact same thing---trying for Inner Harbor, 3 *. I double-checked Priceline and it seems clear to me that they only offer 2 1/2 * in the Hanover-Fort Meade area. I don't understand how you could have been given a room in that area if you had your bid set at 3*. :) I did just check thereuare's hotel list & i do see the Courtyard listed as a 3*, but Priceline does not list a 3* option for that area. Is this a glitch in Priceline's system?
  7. To be honest, I didn't see your suggestion....I probably should have checked back here first. I have never used hotwire before & am more comfortable with Priceline. I should probably learn more about Hotwire. At any rate, I am happy with the Radisson...thanks again for the help.
  8. Won the two nights at the Radisson Hotel Cambridge at $85. Failed at $75.00
  9. Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. Not sure what I'll do now....
  10. Not really looking for help--just thought I'd post the info. for others to see. I was bidding for 1 room, two nights. I used re-bidding sstrategies to bid 4* in Boston-downtown/Charleston and Copley. Went up to $115, still rejected. Maybe I'll have better luck as the date gets closer...or maybe I will decide to try for 3*.
  11. Just ordered the O.C. 2nd season through Amazon.com using the betterbidding link. This really is simple...it is just a matter of remembering. With back-to-school shopping going strong now & the holidays coming soon, maybe everyone will remember to use the links for all of their Internet ordering. :)

  13. What a great hotel! The location is very good, although I imagine most hotels in the harbour area of Victoria are well located, due to the lay-out of the area. The staff is very attentive and helpful. There was no mention of Priceline and we were given rooms next to each other. They were both king beds. We would've preferred 2 beds in one of the rooms, but we also know that isn't part of the deal with Priceline. The hotel itself is beautiful, with lots of understated wood & marble. The restaurant has Starbucks coffee, pastries, yogurt & fruit for sales in the morning. You can enjoy these on the outdoors patio or indoors by a gas fireplace. The free in-room Internet is very nice. There is a guest laundry with 2 washers & 2 dryers for one (Canadian) dollar each. Across the hall from the laundry is another free Internet area with some free printing. Soda machines on every floor & ice on every other floor. Parking garage uses the same elevator as hotel if you park on P2. The hotel is air-conditioned, unlike many in the area. This probably is not even important most days, but it was fairly warm when we were here. From what we've seen, this is as nice a hotel as anyplace in the area. :) :)
  14. We bought two rooms for three nights each at this property through Priceline. We arrived late at night & the hotel was full. We were given rooms on the 6th & 7th floors of the South tower. I know you were under the impression, theruare, that they did not even have guest rooms on these floors.....and they shouldn't. The rooms had views of a very high concrete wall. From our room on the 6th floor we couldn't even tell if the sun was shining. We literally could not see anything except the concrete. From the room on the 7th floor, we could see a little bit of the north tower if we craned our necks. :) The rooms were very nice, otherwise. I spoke to someone at the desk the next day & requested a move for one of the rooms (our kids didn
  15. Well, after much thought & debate, we decided to not split the nights & to bid whatever it took. This trip is a baseball trip for my husband, our son & a few of his friends. I don't know if anyone else will even think this is a bargain, but maybe the info will help other bidders (PLUS I used the SAVINGSBARN.COM link) Basically I bid the Millineum, Grant Park area & the North Michigan Ave area in $5.00 increments until I was accepted at $120 :) , for the Sheraton Chicago Hotel Tower. My last unsuccessful bid was $115. Priceline asked for a counter-offer of $22.00 at both $110 & $115, but I exited & began again each time. I don't know what else I could have done, except wait the 72 hours & hope for last-minute savings. I just noticed today that Priceline has a "hotel service" that allows you to choose your hotels . Right now they are offerring $10.00 back per night. I wonder how this will affect the Name your own price approach....will they be less likely to go for low bids? Will they have more last minute savings?? Cool maps, thereuare. I like the links, too. :)
  16. thereuare, Thanks, That's a good idea. I haven't done any more bidding. Need to decide how badly we really want to do the trip first. Thanks again...I'll let everyone know my results if I bid again.
  17. Just thought I'd post my attempts here to help others trying to bid on same dates: I began @ $60.00 for NMA & followed bidding strategies increasing the bids by $5.00, adding free rebids, etc. Got all the way to $95.00 for NMA plus Grant Park-Loop but was still rejected. :) I plan to try again in a few days.
  18. As for Cubs tickets, my sons & I were there last week (June 29 & 30) and were able to get tickets for the Cubs game on the 30th by visiting their website on the 29th. We paid face value plus a "convience fee". (Earlier visits to the website had offered no tickets, saying the game was sold out, so these must have been late releases by management.) The seats were directly behind home plate at the very back of the lower level. As you may know, there are tons of scalpers, also, but I have heard that they often ask more than face value. At any rate, you should be able to get tickets at some price. Have a great trip!
  19. I was rejected at $35 & won at $41. Used savingsbarn.com :) OOPS--I see the mistake in the title ut don't know how to edit it. Sorry :)
  20. Bid rejected at $37.00, won at $40.00. :) Used savingsbarn.com.
  21. Tried again and was rejected at $110 for 4*. Then was accepted at $117, 4 *, 2 rooms, 2 nights at the Marriott Victoria Inner Harbor. Used savingsbarn.com :) I am really looking forward to seeing Vancouver & Vancouver Island again :) Should I begin a new topic with the success in the title, or will you edit this one, thereuare?
  22. Hey Scorp, Thanks for asking. I have been waiting to re-bid. I actually also was rejected at the 4* level @ $101. I think I will try again today. I guess location is # 1. We were in the area about 16 years ago & stayed outside of town at a place overlooking the water. As I recall, the room was somewhat like a cabin--two units in the building. The water was way below us--a beautiful view. We didn't know, however, that we had to either leave our car in line for the ferry to the Olympic Penisula overnight or else get up really early to get in line. Staying in town would've been better for that reason. This time we are spending two nights & then heading back to Seattle for 1 night & flying home the next day. I haven't researched the ferry situation at all yet, so I don't know if that is even an issue. Also, this time we have our teenage sons with us, so being in town would be good for that reason. I'll let you know how I do on the bidding today.
  23. I want to help support this site. I love it because of the attitude of helpfulness & friendliness. I totally quit visiting TOBB after discovering Betterbidding! I would really like to just donate money or pay dues....I don't know what pay pal is, but I guess I could learn. In the meantime I tried to see what I could buy through your links. Entertainment books are on sale for 9.99, probably because they will come out with the 2006 editions in September. But that is perfect for summer vacation discounts. So I tried to order 3, one for each area we plan to visit this summer. Each time I got to the "buy now" part I received this message: OOPS! Entertainment.com General Error. The Entertainment.com web site has encountered a General Error. You may have tried to directly access a page without supplying the correct form parameters. If this error persists, please notify Entertainment Internet Administrator. Please click here to return to the home page. Thank you. I will try to notify the adminstrator, but I also thought you might like to know.... :)
  24. Offered $80 for 3* for these dates. Rejected. Will try again in 72 hours...or I may decide to deal directly with a hotel after some research. If I do I will be sure to use Betterbidding's links. :)
