Posting to wrap up this thread. I decided to stay in Shelton instead of New Haven and used PRICELINE EXPRESS.
Clicked the PRICELINE link from this site and booked the Courtyard Shelton for $65/night. Very good deal. The guaranteed amenities were:
Free internet
Pool
Free Parking
Restaurant
Business Center
Gym/Spa
I'm looking at New Haven for a possible upcoming stay. For Priceline bidding (accessed from the link on this site for 9/5-9/7), I notice a 3.5 star option for downtown, but haven't seen a 3.5 star hotel from just a regular Priceline search at posted prices. How is that possible? Is it a possibility that Price.line would have a hotel available for "Name Your Own Price" but not available for purchase at posted prices?
Started bidding at $50. Added re-bid zones and got the hotel I was hoping for on the 4th bid.
I'm not seeing the 87.20 special for the Palomar on Expedia. It still shows $135 after I do the search for 2/11-2/13. Am I missing something?
Is the Hyatt Regency the only 4* in the Millennium-Loop-Grant Park area that accepts Priceline bids? It's the only one I've seen reported on this site.
I used the HOTWIRE link and found a 4* NMA, Water Tower, Gold Coast hotel for $90 for 2/11-2/13. Trip advisor rating is 4/5 and 95% of Hotwire users recommended the hotel. Listed amenities are fitness center, restaurant, business center, and Internet. I think this is the Rafaello after searching through Trip Advisor. Does this sound right?
