  1. Thanks for the suggestion but we decided to hold out for an indoor pool.  We went with the above hotrate and got the Lake Tahoe Vacation Resort.  Even with the added $20 resort fee, it was a great price.  Fingers crossed that it doesn't disappoint.

Before I purchased this one, I tried a different one in the Heavenly-Stagecoach area, $77 and also listed with an indoor pool.  Ended up getting the Ridge Pointe Tahoe, which does not have an indoor pool.  There is another partner hotel up the hill that does, but that isn't really what we signed up for so we called Hotwire and eventually got it cancelled.  We booked the above in the same call, so we couldn't use the link but we absolutely will next time.

Thanks for the help, as always.

Sorry for such a plump post, but seemed easier than 4 separate posts. If separate is better, I will do that next time. Thanks!

  4. Well, maybe you can help with this? Plan on doing the usual city visitors things, going to a lot of different areas... seems like good subway access is more important than being in a specific zone. Having said that, I dont't think we want to be too far north (Harlem, and maybe UWS/UES?) nor too far south (Downtown/Financial).

    I am guessing:

CPS, CHELSEA, ESB, HK, MSG, MTE, MTW, SOHO, LES, TSTD

But I would love suggestions/changes if any of these are areas we might want to avoid.

Since I have reservations at $125 in an ok place, I don't want to go over $125. I would like to go much lower if possible. :D

As always, thanks for your help!

  5. Hi, looking for starting price advice for NYC (any Manhatten zone except Harlem, Downtown/Financial or LES). I was thinking of starting at $110 but I found rack rates of $125 at a few decent 3.5 and 4* locations so I am thinking I can do a lot better? Any suggestions for starting price? Want to go 4* to avoid the riff raff that might pop up in less.

As always, used the PRICELINE link from here! :)

  6. Waited WAY too long this time, and worked hard for this deal.

    1. 4* MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB - started at $220, went all the way up to $300 with no luck

    2. 4*, the above zones, added MSG, Chelsea, Soho, UWS, DT - $220 to $300 with no luck

    3. 3.5*, MTW, TS, ESB, MSG - $220 to $300 with no luck

    4. 3.5*, the above plus Chelsea, Soho, UWS, DT. WINNER WINNER!!! 4* in Soho.

Weird how it works like that sometimes??

    Used PRICELINE link, of course.

  7. Just got back from a 4 night stay at Wynn. Called ahead to confirm, and ask for a double config rather than the usual king. I was told that it would be an additional $50 per night, and it looked like they only had a few left. Rats.

We got to the hotel in the early evening when it was relatively quiet, and I asked if there were any double rooms available. He stated that there would be an upgrade charge of $50 if they had any. As I opened my wallet to remove my credit card and ID, I removed a $20 and laid it on the top of my wallet. I then asked if there was any chance of a complementary upgrade to a double. His reply... "let me check that for you!" While I can't say it was the $20, he managed to find a SWEET double room on the 51st floor for no additional charge - and he was aware it was a priceline purchase so it isn't only for full pop guests. Well worth the $20, and much less awkward that I thought it would be. :)

Worst case scenario if he said no to the complementary upgrade, I keep the $20, and life goes on. If you don't ask, they can't say yes.

  8. :)

Using the BB PRICELINE link, my bids:

    started at $75... denied.

    tried $85.... denied.

    tried $95 ...denied.

tried $100 WINNER WINNER CHICKEN (buffet of course) DINNER!!

Now I just need them to give me 2 Qn beds instead of a king so my BFF doesn't have to deal with my sleep cuddling all week. And of course.....what shows to see?

thank you BB! If it weren't for your help and guidance, I would be too scaredy-cat to try PRICELINE and I would end up paying over double. I feel like I owe you dinner!

  9. Won 3.5* Daddy O in Miami Beach for $100 for tomorrow night. Now it looks like we may not make it due to snowstorm/canceled flights. Is there any hope at all that priceline will do anything for me? I know the official policy would say no, but has anyone had weather issues and gotten anywhere?

If Priceline won't, would it hurt to call the hotel directly and ask if they will move my date back a day or two?

And finally, we got our car with hotwire (full size, Ft. Lauderdale, $15 per day x 5 days). If I can't pick up on the scheduled day (tomorrow) will they honor the reservation for the remaining 4 days, assuming we can get out on Friday?

Sorry for all the questions, I'm a noooooob.

    :)

  10. Any guesses? $107 + resort charge $20 per day??

    Suite

    Oceanfront

    Smoke Free Rooms

    Complimentary Breakfast

    Pool(s)

    Business Center

    Laundry Facilities

    High-speed Internet Access

    Kitchenette

Also, is it unreasonable to think I can get above 3* in the keys for under $150? I have been told that I would be LUCKY to get 3.5* or over for $150? I may need an price/attitude adjustment!! :)
