  1. I didn't want to wait any more so I booked the hotel through Hot.wire and got the The Scarlet Huntington - 1075 California Street, San Francisco, CA 94108. 3.5* weren't that much cheaper so might as well get a better hotel. :) I checked the Scarlet Hungtinton website and saved $200 through Hot.wire.
  2. I was unsuccessful and went all the way to $206. My next option is to bid for a 3.5* hotel.
  3. I doubt that the homeless will bother me. They're just people at the end of the day. My max is $200/night and I'm leaning towards a 4* so I'm willing to pay. If I'm close, then I can go over by $10. My plan-up plan is a 3* so I'm flexible. Thanks Thereuare.
  4. My preference is a 3-5* in the union square east, fisherman's wharf and financial district. I see that there's a 4.5* in union square west. Is US west safe? Please advise. I will bid and use your Priceline.com link once you reply. Below are the details from Hotwire: Hot Rate Hotel Union Square West area Show map  90% recommended 30% OFF LEFT! $214 per night Amenities Indoor pool(s) Smoke Free Rooms Fitness Center Restaurant(s) Business Center Internet access Spa Services
  5. Oops ... I ended up going with an apartment rental because of the larger group. Bidding is way better, IMO.
  6. Hi, I'm planning to book a hotel in San Fran through bidding at Price.line.com. I'm planning to hang out by Union Square/Downtown and visit the Golden Gate bridge. The lowest star rating I would go for is 3.5*. I'm willing to stay in JapanTown as well since it's not my first time going to San Fran. Hopefully I can get a room for $150/night but that's wishful thinking. The max is $200/night. Please advise.
  7. I also got the Sheraton YVR hotel for July 13 at $72 through Priceline.com. I started bidding at $52 and worked my way in $5 increments.
  8. Hello, I am planning to visit New York City and need a hotel for 4 people (1 couple and two individuals) so I'm hoping to bid for two queen size beds. Ideally I would like to find a 3.5* hotel at $134. Do you think I will be successful in finding a room for 4 people? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  9. I got the Hudson, A Morgans Original for $134 from April 25-29. It's a 3.5* hotel. I also used the PRICELINE link on this board.
  10. Nope, $147 is not my final max bid. I'm trying to keep my costs low as possible. It would be nice to get a hotel at $160/night before tax. Do you think I am close?
  11. My dates are from April 25-29 for 4 nights. I put in a bid through Priceline and started with CPS, Chelsea, ESB, Hell's Kitchen, MTE, MTW and TS. I really did try to lowball and started with $87 and went up in $10 increments. In the end, I got rejected at $147. I started with all of the listed areas above and rebidded in the other zones (except for Downtown-SOHO and Upper West Side).
  12. Another question, do you think it's a good idea to take the Chinatown bus to Boston? How do I get to the Fung Wah bus station from JFK? Or should I pay the extra bit and still take the Mega/Bolt bus? I'll most likely take the Mega/Bolt bus. How far in advance should I make the booking?
  13. I'll be definitely taking the LIRR route. I'm going to allocate 4 hours when I arrive at JFK so I can catch the Megabus/Boltbus. Hopefully 4 hours should be sufficient time to go through customs, take the LIRR to Manhattan, grab a quick bite and wait for the bus to arrive. Hopefully I'll find a cheap bus ride during that time! Thanks for everything.
  14. Thanks for the tip. If I take the AirTrain from JFK, how much would it cost to get to my Megabus stop in New York? I'll be at terminal 7 at JFK, would I get on the AirTrain and get off at Jamaica AirTrain connection? Is this right? (I'm using this Wikipedia link as a reference.)
  15. I'm willing to choose ESB and CPS as well. It's pretty central, I'm planning to visit Times Square, Rockafeller Centre, WTC, Chinatown, Wall Street, 5th Avenue and maybe watch a Broadway show, see the Statue of Liberty, and go on a Circle line cruise. I should be okay if I choose ESB and CPS. In terms of the hotel, the highest I'll go is $160/night. I'm hoping to pay $120-130/night (before fees+taxes) but we'll see. I'll probably start the bids/rebids in the next couple of days, will keep you posted.
  16. Hi, I'm planning a trip to New York and Boston between April 22 - 29 from Vancouver, Canada. I'll be flying a red-eye flight on CX to JFK and will arrive there by 7:00am. I'm planning to head to Boston first (over the weekend), then adventure back to New York (on the weekdays). What's the easiest and cheapest way to get to Boston from JFK? Should I take the New York Airport Service and then hop on the Megabus? What time should I board the Megabus from JFK, customs and grabbing a quick breakfast? Do you think I should board the 11:00am Megabus ride? Do I have to allocate more time? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
  17. My preference would be Times Square, Midtown East, Midtown West but I'm open to the other 4* areas. Just want to have a good convenient location and price! I'm hoping to stay $120/night during this time (April 21 - 26) but I understand that's pretty positive thinking. Even $150-180/night would be decent.
  18. I've been a long time lurker and thought to join your awesome forum and contribute. I'm looking into a 4* hotel through Priceline.com from April 21 - 26 (5 nights) and was wondering what the rate would be like? I understand that I have 5 rebids, so I would like to get this right. What should I start the bid at? $90? $100? $120? Any advice is greatly appreciated and I'll keep you updated on my progress.
