1. The priceling express deal shows 5* casino hotel in Las Vegas- NE 3/3-3/4 for $125, with swimming pool and airport shuttle (additional features under hotel amenities). My guess is either the Venetian or Palazzo (either would be fine). I wonder if I should bid below $100 using free bids to go up to $110 (or so). Any thoughts or other strategies I could utilize? Also, can I get two rooms when bidding? Thanks, Jonathan GO BLUE!
2. It's been a while since I've used priceline, so came here for a little refresher on how to optimize my bids and connected using links on the site. I wanted a 4* in Times Square, so I checked other free bid zones (there are 10). I started out at $75 and increased bid usually by $5 increments. On my last free bid, I bid $112 and it was accepted for Novotel. After taxes and fees, total is $144.85. No idea what the hotel is like and is on the north end of Times Square (52nd st.), but that just means I'm a little closer to the Carnegie Deli. Amenties include: pet friendly spa non-smoking gym restaurant handicap accessbile
3. We needed to make an emergency trip to Boston, MA and are looking for a hotel in the downtown or backbay or boston common or convention center, etc. areas (not out of the city). We are just looking for a clean property stay at for a few days, at this point tonight through Monday or Tuesday. Any bidding help would be appreciated. thank you, JP
4. I have tried to get a room for a couple of days and maybe I jumped prices too quickly, but I was starting to get desperate... I tried 3.5 * in the Loop for $170 and was offered a free bid if I went up to $220, I declined I used a free bid and added North Michigan Ave- River North for $180- ACCEPTED I used the board's 7% off code for a total of $613.02 I saved a little off of the Hot.wire express deals (3* $182, 3.5* $188, 4* $196) but saved a lot compared to regular prices. of course I used the PRICELINE link from this site.
5. Didn't find much updated information here so went at it on my own. Used the link on this page to go to Priceline.com to search for rental cars at LAX. Cheapest price was $28/day, from sixt (who?). Hotwire is $21/day Went to name my own price to bid $15/day. Bid was rejected but was offered the chance for another bid. I tried to bid $17, but got an error message that said I needed to bid more than $18. I tried $18 even, got same error message (they really did mean MORE THAN $18). Bid $19 and was accepted for mid-size (chevy cruze or similar) at Hertz. Total cost after fees & taxes was $61.31 btw, I love this site. Thanks for the help.
6. I have been trying to get a 4* hotel in Chicago, for this weekend, 6/28-6/30, for two days. I looked at other winning bids and used a strategy suggested on this site. I first tried N. Mich Ave. adding free bids, from $95 ended at $110. I tried the same thing with Mill Park/ the Loop. No luck. Included both NMA & MP/Loop, began at $105, added free bids up to $120 I tried again today, went down to 3.5*, NMA, began at $95... ACCEPTED on first try.... guess I started too high. used the PRICELINE links from this forum.
7. Congrats, I tried to book almost the same trip... the same areas for 6/28-6/30 over the past two night and I have had not luck. Any suggestions?
8. On several threads within the HW forum, I have seen references to bidding on Hotwire, e.g., a recent post concerning Chicago Hotels. I did not realize that you could bid on HW and I do not see a link to do so. Am I missing something or did I misread the post? thank you
9. Won this on my sixth bid. We are arriving late at night and were looking for something near the airport but was willing to stay in Scottsdale so we could spend the day there. Began with just the airport/3* for $35 rebid with Apache Junction for $40 rebid with East Mesa for $42 rebid with Happy Valley for $45 Added Scottsdale for $48 (expanded my acceptable area) Rebid with Phx- West for $50... Accepted
10. Bid 1: TS/ 4*- $140 Bid 2: Added Coney Island- $165 Bid 3: Added Long Island City- $185 Bid 4: Added Lower East Side- $195 Bid 5: Added MSG- $205 Bid 6: Added Morningside- $208 ACCEPTED room total: $416 Tax & fees: $ 94.08 Total: $510.08 If booked through Hotel website directly, stay would have been $716. Followed the strategy based upon a recent post and used the PRICELINE link from that post, Love the site. thanks so much for the help.
11. Had lots of chances to rebid, most areas do not have 4* options, so started very low. At $60 was offered a room for $75. a couple of bids later, $70 was accepted at the Marriott. I'm going to have a cajun christmas. Thanks for the tips and advice... and as always, used the PRICELINE link from the site.
