  1. I believe around 20 miles ... :) The closest park is Colonial Park that has boating, mini golf, tennis court, basketball court ...etc and very nice trails you can bike or walk ... Go down Davidson Rd to the end about 1 mile, make right turn to another 0.5 miles and make left turn on traffice light, about 1 miles on the right is Colonial Park ... It also has a very nice playground if you have kids ... Another nice park is Johnson Park, that you take Rt 527 South, about 3 miles left turn to cross the bridge and the Johnson Park is there along the Raritan River ... If you miss the turn, you will go directly into Rutgers University, and you will find another fantasy of Asian Library, University museums ...etc. If you make a right turn from Davidson Av and heading Rt 527, you will see some shopping centers and restaurant, a miles down would be New Brunswick, you will see dozens of all kinds of good restaurant... Just park your car at the parking deck, it is very safe to park there and walk around town ... Or if you get on the Fwy 287 South and exit 5 you see Middlesex Mall, that area also has lots of good restaurants ... If you want to eat them all, the international Buffet restaurant right at the exit has Chinese, Italian, Japanese, ... :)
  2. Yes, and if you bid on Clark area 3*, you can get Crown Plaza hotel which has been renovated with very comfortable beds ... :)
  3. Trying to bid this hotel again for tomorrow (8-27-06 sun), but could not get it at $39, so, I guess what I got for $42 couple days a go is not too far from minimum... Just did a search on Betterbidding and found this. So, it seems, the best bet may be $41, if not $42 ... Tried again on $40, but rejected, not even countered ...
  4. We were doing BBQ this afternoon at the side of basketball court where kids and "neighbors" playing ... Quite a few families came to BBQ, sharing the only one but BIG grill, there were two tables and each has 4 chairs, which turned out enough since most families just did BBQ on steaks, hot dogs ...etc and went back to eat at their room ... We ate at the court... Nice weather, very cool ... One of the families told me that they bought their steaks at nearby Giants supermarket.
  5. It is 77 channels ... and in fact, I am watching the Basketball Tournament now... US vs Austrilia ... Great!
  6. Ok, I think Garry was right, it is now 2am and the extend link still exisit ... For last time, I guess it was because I had used it to extend on the previous night but got $160, therefore, not accepted ... I would see if the extend link still exist tomorrow at 11am ...
  7. This is nice place... espeically I set up our wireless router in the suite, so, all our portables: PDA's, notebook, Portable PC ...etc all work great! And, of course, we could watched the DVD's bought yesterday in that nice huge store at Race St near 11th ... So, you got Japanese movies, Chinese movies, Korean movies ...etc. in addition to 32 channels of the cable... what else do you need? I think, if I am going to sell my house and move to extended stay, this RI is also in my list ... Comparing commute to NYC for over an hour, from here to Philly downtown seems to be much manageble ... They also said, starting September, this hotel is going to be "smoking free" hotel, wow! that's one of my last concern ... No more 2nd hand smoke in the public area ...
  8. The complimentary breakfast this morning is great! but not too many people for some reason ... got a great time ... :) The general manager came to greet me, what a surprise! I think he is the 2nd general manager I heard would go out their way to help customer ... The other one I heard is Hilton Garden Inn Norwalk CT area, he would drive his private car to give customer a ride when hotel shuttle is not around ... Somehow, we were charged $4.50 on the pantry food, but they took it off... as soon as we dispute, we were not even here yesterday, as soon as checked in, took train to Philly and not got back till very late ... Well, the lady at front desk is very nice and very helpful ... She seems to know every guest's name and know we got another night thru PL ...
  9. True, but ever since 911, you need to have ticket to get in ... I was there and that's the only thing regret, otherwise we can live there and eat at airport stores ... We always love those stores and food court, like in Newark Airport, once in a while, you even see the show ...etc. But that's fine now, this wonderful hotel has R1 route to Phialdephia ... This hotel also has a very nice and LONG pool that has great view that we always enjoyed ...
  10. Yes, this Hilton Garden Inn is at very convenient location... When I was there yesterday, I found the parking deck is right next and can just walk over to the hotel... Besides, it is right next to Reading Terminal Market, Convention Center, Chinatown, Market St ...etc... I was told $200+ a night at front desk ... The lobby has nice sofa sets, so it is a nice place to take a rest for a few minutes if you walk too tired around the attractions around ...
  11. That's great!!! I am going to see if I can get it as well ... thanks for the info ...
  12. Since I could not use the extend link again, I just bid again at 2.5* on $42 and got it on first bid ... :)
  13. Ooops! Trying to go back to "extend" another day here, but to my surprise, the link was gone!!! So, the extend link is still as good as midnight, not yet changed to 11am the following day??? :)
  14. No problem, Dahammer, ever heard "Better late than never" ? When approaching the hotel, got stopped by the red lights of the train on cross road... Wow! saw the Septa train :) So we drove around the area instead of waiting for the train to pass, and found out there is a train station TWO small blocks from the hotel !!! I am always wondering why PL would not let me bid same day after 6pm, wouldn't it be great that PL would pop up a message, saying, "Oh! you are still bidding, no problem, I would let you bid till 6:30pm tonight, take your time and have fun!!!" And, may be 30 minutes later, pop up yet another message if I still could not get one, saying "Oh! haven't got one? no problem, keep doing a good job, you now are given another 30 minutes extra till 7pm ..." :) Ha! Gary told me yesterday, PL now extend the same day bid till 11pm !!! that is so cool!!! He also mentioned that extension is also extend from midnight to 11am of the check out day. What a great news!!!
  15. That makes sense ... so I took SEPTA train to Philadelphia on Friday ... What a shame! that the City Hall has EVERY weekday on 12:30pm a one and half hour to two hours FREE tour, starting at Rm 121 right across street of Courtyard at the center courtyard of City Hall ... We missed it to day :) There are also small tours, 4 each to take the elevator to the top to see William Penn, the guy used to own the whole PA and standing on top of the City Hall facing New York City ... :) But we did checked out the Reading Terminal Market, the oldest farmers market in this nation since 1893 ... Also checked out the PA Transit Museum on Market St Nearby ... The best thing is the Macy's (formerly Lord & Talyor) at the corner of City Hall and Market and Juniper. There is a free organ concert every day 12:30pm and 5:30pm, except Wed and Friday on 7pm for 45 minutes, the store closed on 8pm. Sitting at the Cafe at 3rd floor listening the performance is as great as sitting at the nice sofa of the shoe area of ground floor looking at the huge building that is in fact an attrium inside. You got a feeling like you are in a church ... Of course, today we also caught the wonderful $4.50 buffet at 11th St near Race, :o it is a 4 dish and soup and rice meal, if you just need 2 dishes (big portion anyway), it is only $3.90 If you do not like soup, you can get soda... Then I all of sudden realized that you can take Todays' Bus from NYC Midtown Penn Station area, at 31st St to Chinatown for $10 one way and $20 round trip, then you can walk right over to this Courtyard... no parking issue... This seems to be a good solution for weekdays trip ... Along 11th and 10th street across Hilton Garden Inn (self park $22) seems quite a few such direct bus between Philly and NYC and to DC as well ... There are some go direct to NYC Chinatown... $6 one way and $10 round trip!!! I also found out this 1018 Race street has a HUGE Chinese store (two stories, staircase inside) that has lots of Chinese instruments, clothes, DVD, movies ... and on 2nd floor, there is an Internet Cafe, what a surprise!! I was told the store was there 7 years, never knew its exisitence, passed there all the time ... Today also checked out the Pennsylvania Convention Center on Market, two blocks away, and what a surprise! at the Gallery Mall, the basement is the subway station, much nicer than in NYC ... Many security guards, all very friendly and willing to help ... This Courtyard is really a very very convenient place to stay at Philladelphia ... p.s. By the way, tonight we got the hotel at Residence Inn Conshohoken PA, so we were indeed take the train to Philadelphia to check out City Hall that we were not able to last weekend when we were at this Courtyard. It would be great if we had known all this when we stayed at Courtyard, but I guess it is NOT too late for whoever going to ...
  16. Take NJ Turnpike to I-276-W then Rt-202-W exit on PA-30-E (don't listen to your GPS, or you would has to do U turn back and no exit and another U turn back a gain ...) then left turn go under pass on LHS, you can't miss it . Just chat with the front desk and was told that they renovate part of hotel each year, and this year they just replace the new carpet, no wonder it looks so different ... Last year they have all new furnitures ... etc. so if you read reviews on Internet that are older than 12 months on this hotel, may be waste your time ... or even worse ... let you make wrong decision ...
  17. Some of you sent me messages saying this hotel was not reviewed good... One even told me that he would not have even bid the zone because there is this hotel... Well, I got to tell you folks: This is a very nice hotel ... When we arrived, the hotel parking lots are almost full ... This is very unusual since most hotel I got at good price often got very empty parking lot, sometimes even only dozens cars, make it feel a "scary" feeling, but this one is NOT. Feel so great the parking lot is almost full ... The room is great, new decor, very trendy, very morden style of carpet, nice new curved rod and curtain, the whole bathroom is very shine, the room is big with two beds and two sofa chair and still some room for my kid to make a tent; he brought his tent. Funny? camp inside a 3* hotel? :o The only thing may bother some of you is that they charge $12.95 for wireless internet bood thru hotel room or $9.95 directly thru your credit card. But, it is fine with me because it is super fast!!! So, my productivity is kind of double :) There is a proverb saying "Inch Gold hard to buy inch time." I guess it is not true here ... :)
  18. Since Residence Inn need $160 to extend, so I just bid again in the area on same $42 for 2.5* ... got nothing and keep adding zones till finally got upgraded from 2.5* to 3* before I exhaust all the zones ... Wow! This hotel looks really nice!!! :)
  19. Not yet heard from Dahammer, but go ahead to extend the stay anyway ... wow! got this!!! :) We searched the Residence Inn Conshohocken, however we were not able to find an additional night for your price of $42 per room, per night. Your credit card has not been charged for Request Number 371-131-141-63. During our search we found a rate of $160 per room, per night. If you are willing to accept this new price, you can get your additional night right now...
  20. Trying to repeat, but did not see Harrisburg Central... Do you mean "Harrisburg". Some how "Harrisburg - Hershey" does not have 3* hotel ... So ... Carlisle Details Harrisburg Details Harrisburg - Hershey Details Harrisburg West Details York Details Well ... could not repeat ... got nothing there ... will try again later ...
  21. Cool! That's a good reminder, I saw Minado when it grand open but never saw them around me ... It is certainly much better than Hilton Edison restaurant that costed me $220 that night for a dinner!!! The park we been several times, but it would be great to revisit at different times ... What else would you suggest? Dahammer. I just rented out my 1br at EHS $1,350 and may stay for more days there ... Of course, we can always go back to U Penn and Museum of Art if nothing exciting locally ...
