  1. Used BB PRICELINE link. Rejected bids for Singapore: $81 - 5* City Hall/Marina Bay $81 - 5* City Hall/Marina Bay & Orchard Road $107 - 5* City Hall/Marina Bay $107 - 5* Orchard Road $81 - 4* Orchard Road $81 - 4* City Hall/Marina Bay & Orchard Road $99 - 4* City Hall/Marina Bay $100 - 4* City Hall/Marina Bay & Orchard Road I might just end up booking a 3* on Hotels.com for around $100.
  2. Thanks for the suggestion, thereuare. I've just been informed that 2 people might not be able to make the trip. If this ends up being the case, I will just try to bid on Priceline. If not, I will be back trying to find all my options. Thanks for all the help, everyone :)
  3. I'm hoping for at least a 3* for under $100/night.
  4. I need to book a hotel for 4 adults (family), preferably located somewhere not too far from the Crowne Plaza. Does anyone know what the best option would be for such a long booking? We're fine with sharing a room, but looking at past winning bids on BB, a room for 2 adults will cost in the range of $60-70/night. Since we would be 4 adults, we would have to book 2 rooms -> $120-$140/night -> 5 nights would be $600-$700. Hotwire is about the same price ($130+/night for the 4 of us in one room)
  5. My first bid on a 3.5* hotel in the DTW Airport area for $40 was rejected (it gave me the $55 rebid offer). My rebid (with Taylor zone added) for $43 was accepted. Detroit Airport Marriott Detroit Airport (DTW) 30559 Flynn Drive Romulus, Michigan 48174 734-729-7555 Like usual, I used the BB PRICELINE link.
  6. Thank you for all the helpful replies and PMs, everyone. I have checked in and am in a great room (x08) on a lower floor at the end of the hall, away from the elevators (though, I am right across the hall from the stairs). It seems like being pleasant and engaging the front desk staff (who were very pleasant themselves) goes a long way here (or anywhere). :) The shuttle leaves the airport every hour on the hour and took 30-35 minutes to get to the Westin this evening (I was the last person to get dropped-off).
  7. Thanks for the info :) Any suggestion about the best way to get from the airport to the hotel (other than renting a car)? The main option I've found so far is the Airporter shuttle (airporter.biz - $36 roundtrip)
  8. I needed two nights (1/29, 1/30) in Halifax, NS and got the Westin Nova Scotian for $60USD/night. I'm very happy with this rate considering that the best price on the Westin website for these nights is $164CAD/night (before taxes). I searched, bid, and won using the BB PRICELINE link: Rejected - $45 - 4* - Halifax Rejected - $50 - 4* - Halifax + Dartmouth Rejected - $52 - 4* - Halifax + Dartmouth + Bedford Rejected - $40 - 3.5* - Halifax Rejected - $45 - 3.5* - Halifax + Dartmouth Rejected - $51 - 3.5* - Halifax + Dartmouth + Bedford Rejected - $55 - 4* - Halifax => Received a rebid offer of $70 Accepted - $60 - 4* - Halifax + Dartmouth The Westin Nova Scotian 1181 Hollis Street Halifax, Nova Scotia B3H 2P6 902-421-1000 I read the mixed reviews posted here for this hotel, so I have to ask...does anyone that has stayed here have any advice about specific things/rooms to request? Cheers :) Misc bidding info (as of 1/26/2011): Out of the three regions in Halifax (Halifax, Dartmouth, and Bedford), only Halifax has any hotels 3.5* and above, which makes for a lot of great rebidding opportunities.
  9. Thanks! I actually just now booked another room in the same area. I went in hoping to get Coast Gateway, but got the Holiday Inn instead. Now I'm excited to check it out and see how it compares to the other two! :)
  10. I was surprised when my initial bid of $40 was rejected for an Airport 3* and shocked when my $42 bid was rejected. I finally won the Airport Holiday Inn for $45. According to the Holiday Inn website, the best rate for any room that night is $115+tax. Rejected - $40 - Airport Rejected - $42 - Airport + Kirkland Accepted $45 - Airport Holiday Inn Seatac Airport Seattle Airport (SEA) 17338 International Boulevard Seattle, Washington 98188 206-248-1000
  11. After having stayed at both the SeaTac Hilton and Coast Gateway Hotels, I have to say that I actually prefer the Coast Gateway. While both are nice hotels and very close to the airport (I ended up walking from Coast Gateway and it took all of 4 minutes), Coast Gateway comes with free WiFi and complimentary breakfast while the Hilton (as most do) charges $15 for 24 hours of WiFi.
  12. Congrats on getting this great deal! The cookies ARE great and the free wifi in the lobby always helps. When you check in, remember to give them your HHonors member number if you have one - in addition to a shorter line and earning HHonors points, the front desk staff is much more likely to give you a free upgrade (I was upgraded in December twice in different countries after giving my membership number) :).
  13. I booked the same hotel on Hotwire in a similiar situation (shows up as 3-star on Hotwire, but 2.5-star on Priceline). Do you think it would be worth my time to email Hotwire about it?
  14. I got stranded in Charlotte at CLT after US Airways cancelled all of their flights (no announcements were made at the gate, nor were there any agents there...but that's another story) and needed a hotel last-minute (booked 1/11/11 at 3pm). The airline handed out cards offering their service (a number you could call) to get "discounted hotel rooms", but the cheapest rooms were $89+tax for 2-2.5* hotels far away from the airport. So, I started bidding with Priceline as follows, then checked out Hotwire after my $70 bid for a 3* was rejected: PRICELINE Bids: Rejected - 3.5* - $40 - Airport Rejected - 3.5* - $45 - Airport + Gastonia Rejected - 3.5* - $50 - Airport + Gastonia + Matthews Rejected - 3* - $55 - Airport Rejected - 3* - $70 - Airport + Fort Mill Note: I believe that these all of these bids were rejected because the Holiday Inn was already booked solid for the night. Areas with no 3.5* hotels (as of 1/11/11): carowinds north concord fort mill gastonia matthews north charlotte pineville rock hill university Areas with no 3* hotels (as of 1/11/11): Fort Mill After trying to figure out what hotel I would get (causing much indecision), I booked "Executive Park - South Park area hotel (1.7 - 7.5 mi from CLT" for $59 (total after taxes and fees was $74.15) because it had a 95% Hotwire guest recommendation rate. It turned out to be the "1 QN BED STUDIO DELUXE SUITE NONSMOKING" at Staybridge
  15. I can confirm that this is still the same hotel being listed: 1/12/2011-1/13/2011 2.5*, $53/night Complimentary Breakfast Fitness Center Pool(s) Business Center Laundry Facilities High-speed Internet Access Golf Nearby Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites - Grand Blanc, MI 3405 Regency Park Drive, Grand Blanc, MI, 48439 (810) 695-3000
  16. I was hoping to get the Hilton for $40 like I did last night, but ended up with Coast Gateway Hotel (for $40), instead. Note that Kirkland is the only area in Seattle that does not have a 3* or above available, which definitely limits rebidding options 1st bid (Rejected): $38 - 3* @ Airport 2nd bid (Accepted): $40 - 3* @ Airport + Kirkland Coast Gateway Hotel 18415 International Boulevard Seattle, Washington 98188 206-248-8200
  17. I bid $40 for a 3* in Airport area and was expecting Coast Gateway, but I got the Hilton Seattle Airport And Conference Center instead :) 17620 International Boulevard Seattle, Washington 98188-4001 United States 206-244-4800
  18. I posted my bidding experience here (Airport area, started bidding for 3.5* and then went down to 3*): Priceline Minneapolis Mall of America Good luck with your bidding :)
  19. Well, I've been lurking around the site for about a month now (when I was first introduced to it and the Priceline Name Your Price feature) and have used Priceline a couple times, so I thought I would It said that there were no 4* hotels in the Airport area, so I went down to 3.5* Rejected - $40 - 3.5* @ Airport Rejected - $42 - 3.5* @ Airport + University/Metrodome Rejected - $45 - 3.5* @ Airport + University/Metrodome + Midtown So I went down to 3* (it never hurts to try for 3.5* before trying for 3*) Rejected - $42 - 3* @ Airport Rejected - $45 - 3* @ Airport + Burnsville Finally, my bid was accepted for $50 ($122 total for both nights after tax) and I got the Radisson Hotel Bloomington By Mall of America for 2 nights (1/17-1/19) 1700 East American Blvd Bloomington, MN 55425 952-854-8700 Happy bidding!
