  4. HOTWIRE must have changed the zones because it indicated "City Center - Opera area," not "innere Stadt."
  5. Ended up as $518 per room for 5 nights all in. The cheapest rate on the hotel website is $1,086. Very happy with this deal. 6. Bid $175 and was accepted -- $218 all in. Cheapest price on Expedia was $388 all in. Been here before. Good deal I think.
  7. Bid $45 Indianapolis Airport 3.5 stars and got nothing. Lowered bid to $42 and 3 stars and got the Radisson. $56.25 all in. Price elsewhere is $83 ($95 all in). Pretty good deal for an overnight near IND.
  8. First bid of $130 ($154 all in) successful. Cheapest room price on Hilton.com is $316. Not too bad I would say.
  9. Been bidding for 5* in this area in the $165-180 price range for a few weeks. Came through today at $180 ($442.88 all in for 2 nights). Cheapest on website comes to $679, so a $230 (33%) savings. Not bad. Have stayed here before on priceline bids and was perfectly happy.
  10. First bid of $50 accepted. $65.57 all in. Lowest price on Hyatt.com is $152. So, got the room for about 1/3 the price. Not too bad.....
  11. Pretty good deal. About $225 a night with all taxes and fees included. Lowest price on hotel website is $378 a night.
  12. Got the Marriott Park Lane for 1 night, 11/22-23. Offer: $150 Accepted: $150 Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $150.00 Taxes and Fees: 31.86 Total: 181.86 Price on Marriott.com: 299 GBP (roughly $480!).
  13. Got London Crowne Plaza - Financial District/City on two reservations. Nov 18 for 1 night for $104 ($129 all in). Cheapest on Crowne Plaza website is 226 GBP (almost $500)! Nov 23 for 3 nights for $103 ($369 all in for the 3 nights). On Crowne Plaza website it was $1,169! Saved over $1,000...not too shabby. Amenities listed: Fitness, Restaurant, Business, Internet
  14. I have gotten the Hyatt on PL when their website said it was sold out. I had no problem getting a room. It is a HUGE hotel with plenty of rooms.
  15. Yes, it was my first bid. I did not hold out much hope of getting anything for less. But whenever the first bid is accepted, one always wonders.....
  16. Bid $70 for 4* in NMA-RN for one night (8/7) and got the Sheraton. Lowest price on Sheraton.com was $199. Not a bad deal I guess.
  17. The Palmer House is not on the Miracle Mile.
  18. Been trying for weeks to get a room for this night. Rates are sky high this weekend ($419 Marriott, $229 Palmer House, $199 Hilton, $299 House of Blues). Previous bids up to $100 for 3* or better failed. Tried yesterday on a fluke and scored the Renaissance for only $82. The lowest price on their website is $339! Not sure how this happened, but glad it did.
  19. This is one reason why I avoid moving down to 3* in cities that have a lot of boutique hotels of variable quality. If I am willing to stay at a boutique in SF I will use Hotwire where there is some chance of idenitifying the hotel in advance...as I did for a forthcoming stay at the Serrano. I am bit confused by bulajim's mention of a "3* like Hilton or Hyatt." My understanding is that the Hiltons and Hyatts in SF (apart from the airport) are all 4* properties for PL.
  20. Amenities: Boutique, Restaurants, Fitness Center, High-Speed Internet Access, Business Center
  21. Actually, the lowest price on the Serrano website is $199. So I got it for less than half price. Pretty good deal I think.
  22. Got the Serrano for $89 for 7/27-29. Seems like a good rate (cheapest I saw for this for elsewhere was $169). I could tell from the listings here that it was either the Adagio or Serrano. Both were acceptable for the price. Never stayed here before but all the reviews I have seen look good.
  23. My advice is to start bidding as soon as you know you are definitely staying. Since you have two couples (4 people who should each have separate PL accounts), you can bid every day between now and then. Start at the low end of the reasonable and acceptable price range and then only start going up as your date approaches. That is my humble advice.
  24. Actually, I have gotten hotels in USE plenty of times but never the Westin. I almost always got the Hyatt Regency (and, recently, the Marriott). I have heard in that the Westin's PL are not that great, so I was always happy not to get it.
  25. Yup, Chicago Hilton, not the Palmer House
