  1. I starting bidding for 4* at $95, used all the rebid zones and ran out at $135. Tried next day starting at $140 and landed this hotel on the first attempt. Really disappointment with Priceline lately. Greedy bastards. I barely win anything at a good price and have to always pay close to Priceline Express rates. For cars, I've ended up going with Hotwire over Priceline for the past several months. Really starting to hate companies that are publicly traded and greedy for profits.
  2. Won a compact at PHX for $13 on first bid. Was hoping they didn't have any compacts but they did.
  3. Won the hotel on the first bid. Hotel is secluded and away from the main area where all the other hotels are. Unfortunately, in Priceline, it's all one zone. The hotel needs updating big time but we did enjoy the big room, full kitchen, and free hot breakfast. The staff is super nice as well.
  4. I'll likely go the Holiday Inn Express route since free full breakfast and free parking seem very appealing. Thanks for pointing out that you have a referral link to direct hotel websites as well. You can close this thread now.
  5. I'm willing to do 2.5 stars in Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Culver City, and Westwood. Honestly, the Holiday Inn Express in Hawthorne is going for $85/night with my AAA discount and it includes free hot breakfast, free parking, and free wifi. Since I have a car, I'm leaning towards just booking that considering with both priceline and hotwire, I don't know if the hotel I get will include free parking which sometimes costs $30/day. Any thoughts?
  6. Tried 3.5* Westwood $70, Added Culver $72, Added Lawndale $75, Added Inglewood $78, added Santa Monica $80. NO GO. Added 3* $55, Added Hollywood $60, Added Beverly Hills $65, Added Redondo $55, Added LAX $59...Still NO GO. Now I'm pretty much locked out for the day. How's my strategy? Did I do anything wrong? Since I'm willing to go down to 2.5*, should I use HOTWIRE instead?
  7. We're easy. Even a 3 star like Residence Inn or Courtyard is fine with us. I've even stayed at a Townplace Suites in San Antonio and it was pretty decent.
  8. We are two couples (need 2 rooms) taking a vacation in LA for 3 nights. We would like to visit Santa Monica, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, and Malibu. We will have a car. We would love to get lucky and find a place with free hot breakfast and parking but it is not an absolute requirement. Can you help me come up with a strategy for bidding? Budget is $80-$100/night
  9. Hi, I'm new to this and have not used Priceline before. How much additional is tax and fees on top of the winning bid? Also, do you have a bid history? I"m trying to get this same hotel for checking Dec 7 and checkout Dec 11.
