  1. The Courtyard hotel ended up being a good choice. We were there to find a house and ended up buying one in Sun City. The hotel is in a bit of an isolated area but not far to drive to restaurants and shopping. Probably best for business travelers rather than families or getaways. Everything was clean. Good coffee and very nice free business center (computer AND printer). Staff was great.
  2. Was really hoping for Surprise but decided Chandler would be OK. Started at $50 bidding for 2 1/2 star Added Apache Junction - $52 added Chandler - $55 Waited a day Started at $56 Added Apache Junction - $58 Added Chandler - $60 Prices are over $120 on site so I guess the 3 star will nice and we'll check out Surprise another day.
  3. This property comes up as a PRICELINE EXPRESS Deal on Priceline and there is a similar deal on Travelocity. I was hoping for the Holiday Inn when I accepted the deal at $52/night plus taxes and fees. I was going there for a week while visiting family so not planning to spend a lot of time at the hotel. It turned out to be way better than I expected at this price. I had a king bed that was very comfortable. The room was small but clean with a nice shower, flat panel TV and a fridge and microwave. There is a coffee maker in the room but coffee is available at the breakfast bar all of the time so I never made it in the room. The hotel has free wireless internet that was strong enough to be usable in my room. The area seemed safe to me but is there an unsafe area in Keene? I might have gotten a better price through bidding but haven't felt lucky enough to bother with that lately. This hotel exceeded my expectations and I would stay there again.
  4. I know, paid too much but it was a long exhausting trip and Priceline just wasn't working for me last week on a trip across Utah, Colorado and Nevada. I think I started at $85, added a second area and went to $90 and was given a last chance to change offer at $103 (plus $25.10 taxes and fees) I'm mostly posting this to let others know that Staybridge Suites isn't family friendly on Priceline. I've usually been able to get rooms with 2 queen beds when travelling with family. This place was not only almost as expensive as an AAA reservation in the area but when I called to ask for 2 queen beds, I was told that my room was a King/smoking and I would have to "talk to Priceline" about changing it. You all know how that would go over! They did eventually change me to a non-smoking king with a fold out couch with the caveat that Priceline might charge me for the change (they haven't so far). My family was in open revolt over the smoking room and barely civil about the fold-out so I won't be using Priceline for family reservations anymore! The place is rather nice for couples and business, especially if you want to make use of the kitchen. Lovely breakfast and pool area.
  5. Long time visiting, first time posting... Houston is great if you are looking for a deal on 4* but not so great if you want one in Cy-fair and the options are 1* and 2*. No easy rebids. La Quinta online was listed for $65 (AAA discount). I tried $35 and it was accepted. Might have gotten it for $31 but I probably would have bid $45 if I hadn't read through the notes here. There are a couple of other hotels in the area so I was very happy to get the one that I wanted Thanks! Room Cost (avg. per room, per night): $35.00 (USD) Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 3 Room Subtotal: $105.00 (USD) Taxes and Fees: $25.71 (USD) Total Room Cost: $130.71 (USD)
