  1. Update 2: Be warned that the Omni might put you on the smoking floor. Checking in, the host failed to tell us we had a smoking room on the smoking floor. The room odor was awful. I'm not an anti-smoking person at all but the room odor was not acceptable.... The resort was fully sold out and they had no smoke free rooms available. The front desk person kindly said they could refund the $ to priceline and cancel our reservation but only after I callied priceline directly. After a couple calls, we took off and ended up at the Rosen Shingle Creek (nice place). Understanding smoke or no-smoke is a risk you take with priceline, fortunately it worked out. This was my first issue like this in 20+ successful PL/HW bookings. Regardless, I'll avoid the Omni next time.
  2. Update: Priceline's direct price for this property/nights is now on sale with fee-chop making it $3.96 cheaper than my win (incl taxfees). I called and whined and they gave me the Priceline price guarantee (against their own site) so I got the difference refunded PLUS $25! Happy Bidding.
  3. Resort Orlando (Disney Maingate-Celebration) Omni Champions Gate Dates: 9/3/11-9/5/11 Started at $65 and upped in $5 increments adding nearby Orlando areas that don't have any "resorts". $80 not accepted, $85 was. However, within 5 minutes of winning, Priceline lowers the listed price for the Omni from 100-something to $87.20/nt. Apparently, my timing was just off and I'm only saving a few bucks... This was still the best price I could find (if only by a few bucks) for an Orlando resort on this Labor Day weekend. I'll try to sweeten the deal by offering a $20 sandwich at check-in and ask for a free upgrade. Be aware that the Omni has both a parking fee and a resort fee each in the neighborhood of $15/ea. Can anyone do better? Remember to use the BB PRICELINE link.
  4. DId you get the Beach (Ocean Blvd.) or Golf course (Diplomat Parkway) location? The risk bidding on this property is you never know which you will get...
  5. Other than the Nugget, I'm not aware of any other 4* hotels downtown.
  6. Just don't get cooked by the Vdara death ray: http://www.lvrj.com/news/vdara-visitor---d...-103777559.html
  7. These new resort fees are out of hand. I don't care if they are $3/night (Gold Coast) or $24.95/night (Green Valley Ranch). If you weren't aware, they also collect sales tax on these fees so they are even larger. Given a choice, I choose to support hotels that don't have these shady resort fees. Hopefully more will do the same and we can put a stop to this trend.
  8. Try to avoid hotels with additional resort fees. It's a scam. :)
  9. I just won: 4* Las Vegas (Freemont St) Golden Nugget 1/6/2011-1/9/2011 $78/night (Actual bid was $68/night but my free priceline bux made it $78/night) AFAIK, the GN has NO RESORT FEE and free parking. If you are going to the Consumer Electronics show (CES) and like this deal, come find me and buy me a beer. Or at least invite me to one of the CES parties... :) Mods, sorry but I forgot to click your referral link. Will do next time.
