  1. Started bidding at $70, $73, won at $76. Hotel completely renovated and reopened May 2014. Former Holiday Inn Willmar. Used the link on BB! Thanks Better Bidding!
  2. Today I won Royal Lahaina for $160 on HOTWIRE. 3.5* Amenities Beachfront PropertyPool(s)Restaurant(s)Laundry Facilities (self-service)Golf NearbyTennis Nearby Prior to using Hotwire, I bid through PRICELINE starting at $125 and up $5 increments adding rebid zones (all areas) until I reached $145. Not accepted. Dates as are mentioned. Used PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links on this site from the beginning searches through my Hotwire win. Thank you for all the assistance and encouragement from the board. What a great site! Slyspif
  3. The best non-opaque I have seen is $329. I see some wins earlier in March, I will try my bidding cycle again this weekend.
  4. I dont have a problem moving around, so I would split 3 times. I would like to be next to the beach however. I have been looking at hotel rates to determine what days to split off, and dont see much change in the rates. Am I doing this right? I did bid today, slowly adding rebid zones I went $120 to $130 resorts only, with the last bid including 4* ~ no go. At $125 Priceline "thought" about it for a very long time and I thought I had it, but no. Thanks to the other board members too for their input! I fly into OGG, but will go anywhere within 30 miles.
  5. Well, it is the Aston Maui Lu, but I will spend more...
  6. Thanks Thereuare, Lazycash, and Lapuravida, I will look at splitting my bid. I have used this board since 2005, so I am familiar (but rusty) on the tactics. My family is visiting Maui and I am a little shocked at the prices. My maximum budget would be $150/night all in. I do have a backup reservation. So, not too much in terms of lower star level wins on either HOTWIRE or PRICELINE?!?
  7. Hello Thereuare and Board Members, I have been looking and clicking through your links trying to find a great deal during a peak time. I see a lot of wins in the 4* and Resort categories, but with the resort fees I am still looking at $200 plus per night. Any suggestions on a strategy for a lower star level? Do you see many wins in the lower star levels? Thank you in advance!
  8. A new one for the list. Has both airport and seaport complimentary shuttle! Started with the PRICELINE link on BetterBidding.com, Bid $80 3* (Airport FLL), Added Miramar, bid $90 3*, Added 2.5* bid $90, PRICELINE countered with a $22 add on, and I added Pompano Beach ( a calculated risk) for $96. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $96.00 Subtotal: $96.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $19.36 Total Charges*: $115.36 slyspif
  9. Update: I just used the "add nights" feature to add 11/2 & 11/3 for $70.00
  10. Started at Savingsbarn.com, bid $65 for 11/4 to 11/9, rejected. extended dates to 11/10 and raised bid to $70...accepted! Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $70.00 Subtotal: $420.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $59.99 Total Charges*: $479.99 Right on the beach near Seaworld, perfect! slyspif
  11. Trying for a 3* in Santa Monica, moved down to a 2.5* and hit on the first time. Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $110.00 Subtotal: $220.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $40.46 Total Charges*: $260.46
  12. Watch out! Not a great win in Chicago. I may have gone too early! Hotels are just starting to mark down rooms for the "after the fourth of July" period. What looked to be the Westin Michigan Ave popped up on Hotwire for $109, so I tried to do better on Priceline. Starting on Savingsbarn.com, I bid $70 for the NMA River North zone, then added Midway at $80, then added Millennium, Loop, Grant Park at $90 and "won". Priceline offered to add days, which I needed because I was splitting my bid, but I was rejected!! and offered the last night, 7/6/07, for $135. I declined and went back in and paid $120. slyspif
  13. Started through Savingsbarn.com, bid $145, offered $22 instant rebid, instead I added Waikiki Beach ( what the heck ) and bid $150. I had started with 5/26 to 6/1 trying to avoid price changes, and Priceline offered extra days, of which I added one. The family is VERY excited to see the Penguins. slyspif
  14. NOT the hotel I needed, does not even have a pool! This was bid as a 2.5*, and Priceline did the "and we've upgraded your hotel quality level to a 3-star hotel!" deal to me :) Your Offer Price: $50.00 Extend Your Stay Number of Rooms: 1 Number of Nights: 1 Subtotal: $50.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $13.65 Total Charges*: $63.65
  15. Results: Homewood Suites by Hilton 3* (8745 International Drive) Universal/Sea World $45 Suite, Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access, Kitchenette The amenities matched the hotel list here except "high speed internet", and others said this was the HS closer to Sea World..so I grabbed it and the family is very pleased! 1 room(s) @ $45.00 per night x 3 night(s) SubTotal:$135.00 Taxes & Fees:$25.29 TotalPrice:$160.29 FYI - I used SB.COM but I am not sure you will get credit as I also used an Entertainment Book coupon ($10 rebate). Can you please comment on this Thereuare. slyspif
  16. Yes, I am searching 2 adults & 2 kids. I am not adverse to going just 2 adults and "working the front desk". I use priceline too and actually have 3 kids and so far no problem. Before posting this, I did a 2 adult search and found several 2* to 3* options, none match the amenities listed here. They must have mixed them up or have new hotels :) Can you ID this original 3* or the 3* in the 2 adult search with pool(s), Restaurant, High speed internet?? Thanks! slyspif
  17. Complimentary Breakfast, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Business Center, Laundry Facilities, High-speed Internet Access Thanks! slyspif
